How often are there superheroes with superpowers that incorporated into the art in creative ways? Why isn't it more common?
>>155663589>Why isn't it more common?To quote /co/: >It would get old fast.
>>155663589Not often enough. When you write comics to just get a story across, or to get your paycheck, there isn't much room or time for nice things.
>>155666916I didn't love all of Whedon's run, but when it worked, it was fucking magic in a way I hadn't felt since Claremont.
Steranko
>>155663589Doesn't Doom Patrol have a girl who throws dialogue balloons at people?
>>155663589>Why isn't it more common?Because superhero comics have to be shit out at an insane pace, there's not a lot of time for cool art.
>>155668145the goat
>>155668249Which one?
>>155671373Idk
>>155672233Useless.
I remember this DC villaines (New TeenTitans I think) that had some kind of reality bending powers but for the life of me I can't find what her name was again, she looked misshapen
>>155673573What era?
>>15567437980s
>>155663589speaking of Havok and great art, check out Meltdown. story isn't great, but the art is top
>>155673573>>155674457She on this?
>>155675878No, her face looked like it was half bent, or like having a huge stroke, If she really was in the New Teen Titans it was the second volume 1984-1988
>>155675878Who's the girl near the bottom with the blue hair and eyeliner?
>>155676340Cross Christina?
>>155676340I think thats Johnny Rancid? But genderbend?
>>155663589I mean OP, you try coming up a superpower that allows for creative visual uses every month for years, doesn't take too long to draw, and doesn't break your story
>>155676423>>155676617It is Cross Christina.
>>155676647splicing space in nonlethal ways>creative visuals can literally just be playing with panel boundaries>doesn’t take too long to draw because it’s just cutting what you’re drawing into pieces>doesn’t break the story because any method of attack with it will have to be creative somehow
>>155676094Maybe she was a Teen Titan that had a mind breakdown?
>>155676746No, she has black hair and was kind of thin, from what I can remember, I think she was only in 1 issue, sh
I finally found a pic of her but I still have no idea what her name is againGod why is it so fucking hard for ANY goddamn search engine and shit ass wiki to help you?
>>155663921No
Finally fucking found it, it's TwisterHer powers are "illusion casting"
>>155677130
>>155677130Huh. Shame about her face, she's actually got a pretty cute design otherwise.
>>155676967>>155677130Oh, ok.
>>155663589Too hard
>>155663589Does strong bad hopping panels in that one sbemail count?
>>155677130>>155677154>Donna's left boob getting biggerSEXO
>>155676967>God why is it so fucking hard for ANY goddamn search engine and shit ass wiki to help you? That's just how it is for obscure shit. Even modern AI with its massive search engine capabilities struggles to find accurate info on stuff like 80s DC comics.
>>155677154Meh. This has been done a bunch, and it's not particularly creative.
>>155668249I know in the show Jane has a personality called Silver Tongue that can make words appear and throw them. No idea if it's a thing in the comics.
>>155668055Did Claremont's run have anything like that?
>>155682269Yes, Claremont regularly had moments to let individual members of the team shine and really cut loose with their powers.
>>155680289I never said or implied it was
>>155682340I think they did alot of this with X-Men.
>>155663589>Why isn't it more common? Because most comics writers aren't very creative..
>>155665157Whats this from
>>155677130Hey this cover is really good.
>>155663589The push for realism in the 2000s kind of killed that sort of artistic expression in cape comics. Basically just a more refined version of the Family Guy adult cartoon style, the art is no longer a part of the product, just a means of moving the story along.
>>155684468Alan Moore's Captain Britain
>>155684704Not really.
>>155675878What a weak rogues gallery.
>>155686051They look ok.
