I really preferred when Marvel comics were less interconnected and more separated. Like, each book had its own cast, and it wasn't interferring much with each other, except occasional cameos. People whine about x-men being separated from the rest of marvel, but the truth is that each book should be its own universe.

Maybe I speak for myself, but I do have a fatigue of every fucking marvel character appearing in every fucking marvel book, sometimes randomly.

And I completely hate retarded mash-ups, like the most recent marvel mangaverse. It was beyond vomit-inducing
>>
What years would you consider this to be the case?
>>

The fucking 1940s apparently, cause even in Spidey's first few issues, he almost gets fucking ran over by Thor.

certainly the nearly 20 years, and certainly starting with bendis era of avengers. The idea of making marvel comics more interconnected kinda came with alonso, though
>>
The events are like an avalanche right now and they need to fucking cease.

Probably why I can't get into Marvel.

This has never been the case.

But Sub-Mariner met the Human Torch in 1940.

X-Books should be in its own canon because 1. They don't need the other Marvel cast, as shown by the strength of the X-Men movies and stuff like X-Men Evolution. 2. It makes more sense that way.

X-books can fit in just fine they just need to stop writing the X-men as so adversarial to everyone else. Cut out the
>Mutants deal with mutant problems.
>WAAAH WHY DIDN'T YOU SOLVE MUTANT PROBLEMS.
Bullshit

Captain America was in Evolution

NTA, but I don't think the issue is other characters appearing in other hero's books. Marvel Team-Up as a concept was just Spider-Man and a rotating roster of guests. The issue is when every book is crossing over into another book in an endless "event". I tuned out of Marvel completely during Civil War because of this, and I never got back on board except for the occasional, self-contained mini series. It's like standalone stories can't be a thing anymore and every book has to lead into the next big event or tease the next big, ongoing event that lasts for a year, it's exhausting.

Well yes, on that, we can agree. There's so many events that when you combine it with the decompression it barely feels like we even get to have a status quo before it's changed again forever
>>
>>155663761
It’s kind of ironic that as much as the big two like to use the multiverse, they sure do like to cram way too many characters and concepts into a single universe.
>>
>>155663761
That's in large part due to no editors who give a damn about quality books. If you just want sales and short term gain, then you constantly force two bases of customers to mix and try out other books but if the stories suck and have no intention then you water down everything. Marvel used it to its strength and intentionally. Now it does it every goddamn waking moment.
>>

rereading old issues it's honestly impressive how tight the old continuity used to be. If Iron Man was having trouble in his book he couldn't be on Avengers. If some big storm happened in Thor, Spider-man was dealing with unseasonable snow.
>>

Sounds correct
>>
The only good crossover I've read in Marvel is The Avengers showing up in Daredevil: Born Again.
>>
>>155663761
i hate people with your opinion because you don't actually point out the quality of writing. the dr. doom and dr strange: triumph and torment just got a reprint and i'd never read it before. it was fantastic.

>every character
it's just the ones that marvel thinks are marketable. there are too many wolverines, there are too many spider-mans, and focus is always given to the same motherfuckers

>vomit inducing
sounds like your problem is your amygdala
>>
>>155666017
>>155666346
I agree with these way more. Marvel being interconnected was never the problem. How it was interconnected back then compared to how Modern Marvel believes interconnectivity should work, is the bigger issue.
>>
>>155666017
>It's like standalone stories can't be a thing anymore

Except they happen all the goddamn time.

>It’s exhausting

What is exhausting is people being hyperbolic and clearly not knowing wtf they are talking about
