Alright, maybe that is bastion

i hope duane gets to give some this conversation he's been getting it a little too much recently

Really
>>
>>155666736
He seems like he's having a pretty good time watching this
>>
>>155666750
Jivi is giving a performance worthy of Aldish Broadway.
>>
Jivi's queen simping is sickening
>>
>>155666750
Why wouldn't he be in a good mood? He knows if Jivi is there pretending to be a Blacktongue then his girl Sette has some pure chaos planned.
>>
I'm convinced they completely bungle the rescue in a way that convinces Sonorie to have a regular chat with Dwayne and humiliates Nora.
>>
>>155666676
Fuck that dude. Everything you need to know about this new guy in just two lines and one glare.

Jigley delivering what Duane needs most right now. A laugh! Enough to endure the cock and ball torture.

One thing I really like about Unsounded is you can always tell even the background character has their own story. The doctor, the attendant with the scar, they have just enough detail and emotion that you can sense they're a full person.
>>
>>155666676
>torture
Don't they know they literally put duane in the extreme infinite horrible pain chamber and he was like "dude lmao existing is suffering already fuck off "
>>

When she woke up in the morning all she wanted from that day was to see some cocks. Was that too much to ask? Apparently, yes.

But he's never experienced Nora's patented Ballbustomatic, which busts the balls of your very soul.

He's an asshole but I immediately get his logic. "Maybe if she actually has consequences she'll stop believing she can do whatever she wants and it'll somehow go her way."

Not gonna work and it's gonna get a whole lot worse.
>>
>>155667680
I don't thing the vicar of Christ has a say over this.
>>
>>155668277
Nora's a bit better at this and is actually able to make him suffer above and beyond his usual suffering. It's why he chewed his lips and such off before they made him his new face, so he couldn't be coerced or tricked into giving Nora intelligence.
>>
>>155668338
I don't remember it. I have no lasting opinion on it.
>>
>>155668784
I think this is reading too much regard for Mikaila into it.

>Maybe if she actually has consequences she'll stop believing she can do whatever she wants and it'll somehow go her way
To me that's part of it, but he's more offended that an unrelated out-caste male is examining his niece.
Unc reminds me of my relative's stories from labor and delivery concerning some traditional families. Wife in labor, comes in under obvious distress, but only male doctor is on shift. Doctor says he's got to examine wife/monitors say get the kid out now/etc. Husband says no man can touch her, and yeah nah we're not gonna leave, deal with it. Staff do what they can; kid comes out megafucked. Kid's a potato, wife's messed up, but you got your wish: no man touched her bro. At least here Miki is just going to lose a tooth.
>>
>>155668799
I think if Nora is so vile that the Pope is forced to condemn a fictional character from a fantasy webcomic, it would really further the cause.
>>
>>155669111
It's less about being offended, I think, he feels he has to be extreme about propriety and class consciousness after what Mikhaila has done to counteract some of the shame she has brought to the family.
>>
>>155669192
This. Lemuel explicitly let her get away with way too much, and now she's explicitly committed several crimes which could lead to her exile, if not Leysa and Simon as well. If Goodwin didn't already crack her teeth, Uncle definitely would have then and there.

It's the hand she fucked up on purpose in the setting-her-husband-on-fire ceremony. Wonder if it's symbolic or if it's some pymaric thing to get her to heal better.
>>
>>155666679
Nora really hates to hear Duane laugh, huh.
>>
>>155669867
It's a human behavior, in some estimations the Most Human behavior; and Nora won't suffer Alds to display that.
>>
>>155668813
Well, she's giving him a feeling of being alive and manipulating that. It's a lot more sophiscated that just injecting pain straight into the dick.

Dude arrives after hearing some wild story about Mikaila wearing pants and finds some guy with his finger red to the knuckle with the juices from her newly busted mouth cherry, he's quite right to shut it all down post haste.

This must be all rather much for Sonorie, who isn't long from murdering her friend to placate a baying crowd cheering her for solving a problem she caused. Now she's sitting here watching one of her hatchetmen torture a corpse for laughing while eating cookies of his head.
>>
Fortunately Duane is on a ship by the end of the day or Nora might actually investigate his zombie hole.
>>
>>155669192
That might be on his mind, but do you really think he'd let a Jet doctor treat her if she'd busted that tooth in a random accident? Everything we've seen of family culture in Alderode suggests otherwise.
>>
BUMPS
>>
>>155672556
We don't know enough about this dude to say much yet but this is a very different situation from a random accident that could be dealt with privately and no one would care about
>>
>>155671622
Nora would not be able to enter the khert. So far, no one has shown the ability to traverse it in meat form except Sette and, apparently, Murkoph.
>>
>>155672556
Ashley answered a bit about this, and yes under normal circumstances they'd only want to see a Soud doctor.
A Jet doctor was present because the Lion barracks are mixed-caste, but he still wanted some female witnesses to prevent a scandal. If this was a random accident, I think it'd be more socially acceptable for her to receive immediate treatment from whomever was present, but again he needs to bring Miki to heel.
>>
Going to be crazy when all this leads to Jivi Flask becoming the finest stage actor of his generation. Have we heard him sing? He must've sung sea shanties, I bet he can carry a tune.
>>
>>155672782
True, but it's not like they've experimented with this ability either. IIRC the only time Sette got through was during or shortly after a Khert fire, when the laws of physics were funky to begin with. Sette is a unique existence but I think the First Soul only gives her control over ghosts, not allow her to enter the Khert to begin with.
They probably could recreate the conditions and send someone else through, but creating a Khert fire is a bad gamble for questionable benefits, and Duane would almost immediately find a way to ditch or kill any Crescian that followed him in. The Khert itself is impossible to navigate by any known means.
>>
>>155672782
>>155672867
Also they have to kill someone
>>
>>155667430
It took me a bit but that was because I didn't think Jivi would actually go along with this.
>>
>>155673000
The khert fire is more of a problem than killing someone, as far as Nora is concerned. Jivi either doesn't know these ingredients (I don't think he does), or wouldn't share them (I don't think he would unless the Queen asked, which she won't, because the way he phrased it made it sound like utter nonsense).

Sette could tell them. But you could pull her teeth and she'd spit blood in your eye before she would, I bet.
>>
>>155672782
Even if it's a admin exclusive privilege, it could still be something they could investigate. Bastion made use of it without being able to walk the khert himself.
>>
>>155673279
Iirc there was a gag where they mentioned someone had to die and everybody looked at quigley. So Jivi should know at least that part even if he didn't mention it
>>
>>155673970
Fortunately, no one is going to tell her how it actually works.

It is somewhat interesting that they've had him for awhile but haven't be able to detect his soul getting pulled back into the khert at night. Do we even know why that happens, actually? Is it just cause his mind HAS to sleep and when it does it gets pulled out? It's a strange tangling of death and sleeping for a setting that, metaphysically, has not tied those two together very much otherwise (ala Elder Scrolls with their whole "if something resembles another thing too much they just become the same thing and sleeping is like dying so sleeping actually puts you into the afterlife" and so on).

Anyway, even if he's not getting stuck like in Ethelmik or during the big climax, he does normally still go bouncing back in every night, so I'm wondering if that has somehow stopped or they just can't detect it.
>>
>>155678133
It's mentioned briefly, but they are aware his soul leaves during the night. Duane's also had ample time to detail this in his journals. Check page 29 onwards of the current chapter.
As for why this happens, Duane has no physical brain and shouldn't need sleep, so this does suggest it's a metaphysical effect. The Khert is trying to claim his soul and do its duty, but he's kept whole and reeled back in. But Lemuel knew the Pymaric would work this way, which means Bastion must have designed that function intentionally.
I wouldn't tie his Khertly escapades to a need for sleep so much as the night itself. If there's any future loredumps relating to the Sun, Moon, or nighttime we should keep our ears pricked.

>>
>>155682620
Usually it's reserved for boys.
>>
>>155678881
>which means Bastion must have designed that function intentionally
I feel like he wouldn't, unless Duane had a specific purpose beyond being a prototype. Because Bastion specifically wants to defeat death, and having that also just catapult you back into what passes for an afterlife these days seems antithetical to that.
>>
>>155682922
Duane is a prototype made out of a guy Bastion probably despised on principle, so his comfort and well being wouldn't be high on the list.

Though if he hadn't lost him he'd be much better preserved, for sure
>>
>>155682918
His problem is with a man fingering a woman's mouth, probably.

L-LEWD!!
>>
>>155678881
>But Lemuel knew the Pymaric would work this way, which means Bastion must have designed that function intentionally.
This doesn't seem as much about the 'descend into the khert each night' bit and more about the overall goal of the plan, which was to let a Ssaelit die and come back. I don't think Bastion or Lem knew Duane would keep bungie jumping into heaven
>>
>>155669111
Assuming it stays in her mouth but dies, she's in for a bad time. Marathon Man type pain.
