>the internet is getting tired of disneys cliches

How will the mouse react? Will they finally make unique stuff or will they still pander to shit taste normies?

There was an entire online ecosystem for making these observation in like, 2006, this sort of stuff was the bedrock of websites like cracked, this is not a new phenomenon.

Elon Musk is a humongous faggot but I love how he basically caused all the more terminally online types to fuck off to Bluesky aka Tumblr 2.0. If this movie trailer was released 3 years ago you’d get tons of consoomers defending it.

I remember you also couldn’t hate on beanmouth before all those fags moved to Bluesky.

Everyone forgets the most important part about the Bluesky exodus.

It was a pretty fucking massive failure and everyone had to go back to twitter as it became clear their audiences didn't feel like following them.

It's the same as the Reddit Voat exodus.

The core problem for Disney animation is they have to coast entirely on Nostalgia now and no one really even wants a new Disney Princess at this point.

Once frozen 2 of all things got a lukewarm reaction from the internet at best, it was fucking over

You know, after looking at forspoken I've come to find the real problem can be summed up to "We don't know how to balance a straightman-funny man dynamic"

In a given comedy duo, the straightman isn't supposed to be constantly overshadowed by the funny man, nor be completely hapless. Doing so causes the bit to lose direction. The straightman works best when you actually allow them to banter with the funnyman to the point of being able to move things along.

And in the case of shit like Borderlands, the problem is literally everyone is super fucking zany. In the first game, the player character is the straightman who reacts to the zaniness of pandora, but as the series goes on, it loses that more and more.

People have been tired of Disneys cliches since the golden age of animation.

The way I see it golden age Disney utilized cuteness a lot but those films managed to be Citizen Kane-level masterpieces, not to mention they had tons of dark shit in them too (Night on Bald Mountain, Pleasure Island, etc.), they started to become hit or miss after the wartime era and degraded even more during the xerox era, every film from The Little Mermaid-onward is sanitized kitschy garbage for morons. Their style also started to get ugly around then too, their 3D films are especially hideous. It shouldn’t have took this fucking long for normies to realize how shit modern Disney is.

Shrek had a negative impact on Disney too, where else do you think the snarky, 'deconstructing', and quirky humor in their 'revival era'-onward films like Tangled and Frozen came from?

Heck Disney was already sort of doing that before Shrek with Aladdin.

Aladdin was doing what Shrek did in the sense that it was the first film to rely on starpower celebrity VAs for success and had tons of proto-meta and referential humor.
>>
>>155670783
I wanna say the real problem here is that Disney didn't understand you're not supposed to copy the thing designed to make fun of you.

Shrek worked because it was allowed to be as cynical about the "magic" as it wanted. The current movies aren't allowed to do that.

The other big thing that I've noticed that people seem to forget about Shrek is it worked because Shrek was allowed to be a bitter asshole prone to lashing out at people because of his own outcasting.

He felt a lot more real than a lot of Disney protags, and when you add disney sanitization back into that, you're left with annoying quirk chungus.

I wanna say that is a huge problem too. You used to have different flavors of smartasses. Some were more playful, some were more dry, some were quirky, some were deliberately obnoxious in a funny way.
And these variations also centered around how they'd fit into a cast or duo who would balance them out.

You notice that sorta disappear more and more after like.. 2013 ish

>tranny flag in bio

>>
>>155670529
Yeah and sometimes the straightman does get a bit too Judd Apatow or Jeff Winger/Dan Harmon for my tastes where they become unrealistically hypercompetent and/or smarmy/snide where they become annoying. It's these two extremes I hate. The reason people like Spidey, Bugs, Daffy, Fry, Bender, etc. is that they all encounter something that complements them or humbles them while also challenging them to use their wit in interesting ways.
>>
>>155671211
I mean, you wanna know something really important that I've noticed a lot of games/series have missed recently?

In a good comedic ensemble, the role of the straightman shifts depending on situation and conversation. Because different characters will have different traits. Like, the zany jokester will often play the straightman when paired with a situation centered around the anxious over thinker, but that reverses when it's a story about the former's whimsical nature going too far and dragging the two of them into something.

>How will the mouse react?
They won't, the issue with a lot who adhere to terms like "the mouse" is you've deluded yourself into thinking you're talking about or to an entity. Disney like many media companies have embraced being a market spreadsheet.

There's no incentive to make anything other than what that illustrates sells because it shows negative opinion or tastes have no substantial effect on profits.
I don't like it but I can't even feel hate anymore because there's nothing there. Instead of engaging simply observe the relentless spiral in effort against the consistent success of these things and you'll realize you're angry at an equation. As much as a fallacy as it can be to blame shift, this is a case where the byproduct is less from company decision and more customers.

And I doubt Disney would even course correct if they saw a steep decline in profits, there'd be no lesson for the computation to process other than re-do more live action classics or a sequel of the last successful thing.
Disney will probably only change if a substantial margin of people started going to other, quality animated features. Less out of an interest to better themselves, more to elbow out competition. But as the awards for animation have also consistently shown very few people care.
>But Anime
Not exactly competition due to success being scattered across companies, and not consistent. Audiences may see whatever popular thing is out from curiosity, but there isn't a sizeable, vested interest to become a life fan like people have with Disney. Disney in comparison can squat out whatever and as we are right now illustrating people will care.

It's too locked in. Even this post is futile, families outside 4chan will inevitably plop their kids in front of latest Disney thing instead of any of the decades of TV and film they could otherwise, merch will be bought for school and birthdays, parks will be gone to.

To be clear, look at Frey and Cuff in the aforementioned Forspoken example.

Look at Frey's most infamous dialogue.
https://youtu.be/rhkQE6NKS6E?si=2mHL9EQ6vDGE-QFF

You know what makes this dialogue so bad? It's not the "I just moved shit with my mind", it's that she isn't even reacting to Cuff's input. It creates a banter that is entirely one-sided and goes no where.
Literally all they had to do was make her react to what he told her and then her quirk chunginess can actually go somewhere. Even her getting mad at him "ruining this for her" with his cynicism and relative lack of reaction could have been an actual fucking banter.

And that's where I'm noticing all these quirky adorkable characters keep going wrong.

This character type has existed for decades but in the past 10 or so years, a shit ton of writers have forgotten that they're only as good as the more down to earth or cynical characters who are supposed to balance them

A big reason why so many people have been turning against Disney lately is probably because of how it’s been almost a decade since they’ve made a well received film, the only exceptions are Encanto and Zootopia 2 and I’ve seen some people start to think that the prior film was overrated.

Unless it has major repercussion on their box office returns, there will be no reaction from Disney at all.

As of right now
>Live action remakes make billions
>Grrrl Power self insert fantasy makes billions
>Two movies in a row starring a young boy failed, therefore not doing that any longer
>Kinda sorta slightly but not really implying Lesbians brings in money and tons of fan engagement, so that will keep happening
>Everyone inside the industry vehemently defends the ever living FUCK out of bean mouth design, that is not changing due to becoming a hill they will die on.
>Panic attacks brings in good press, wins awards, and elevates employees' social status so that stays
>Middle tier executives love them some witches, we get it in the TVA shows, Star Wars, Freeform series, they are not going anywhere, quit bitching about them already.
