One thing I never understood about the manga vs comic debate bullshit, is how people say it's easier to buy manga but most manga series are long and it if you want to own it you need a shit ton of volumes which why I rarely buy manga vs comics I can get complete stories or runs in a few trades or just one volume, there's not a lot of one shot manga at all. If I want all of Knightfall I just need to buy like 3 trades but if I want all of even a shorter manga series like FMA I need 27 volumes which adds way up even compared to a few big ass trades or even single issues at least if you're buy like 2 dollar back issues. It's even easier with indie stuff because of it is really damn short even popular stuff like Hellboy and Tank Girl got way less than manga.
>>155669885>comics complete storiesLMAO
>>155669915If it has THE END at the end of the page, it's complete simple as. It doesn't matter if there's stuff after I can choice to read it or not.
Comics are too expensive because what you're getting isn't nearly worth the price. Manga is high enough quality usually to justify what it costs. I don't expect comic fans to understand this, because if they did they wouldn't be comic fans.
>>155669885Manga's cheaper if you know where to look and understand written Japanese.
>>155669923>I can choice to read it or not. You're an ESL thirdie, now it makes sense.
>>155669927I can buy whole comic boxes on ebay for 30 bucks filled to the brim, I can't do that with manga.
>>155669935>ESL blaming over minor typing mistakesgrammar naziYou're an anti-American faggot, all comic haters are go read your Jap shit.
They really are cheaper, manga just tricks people with the price and hooks them in to buy books but it adds up. I won't doubt it's cheaper to buy all of Chris Claremont's X-Men over Jojo.
Manga is only getting more expensive
Manga is cheaper in japan because everything is, thry make like half the salary of the average american
>>155670007There will always be scanlations.
>>155670007Damn don't get also anon, they're doing hardcovers and omnis in manga now but unlike most comics that's the only way they're being collected and their way smaller than comic omnis but they're tapping into that ''special edition'' type of collector hardcore. Dark Horse these days seems to only being those type of volumes for their stuff now.
>>155670028I don't even like how deluxe editions look, at least but a dust jacket it on it. I'm reading comics not a fancy bible.
>>155670014This thread about buying comics though, you can always look at scans of western shit too.
>>155670057Damn it's like soulless version of this, they couldn't have put Vash on it like this or something?
>>155669945Yes you can
>>155670074It's not called trivash the stampede, it's called trigun
>>155669885At least Viz keeps most of their shit in print unlike Marvel. I don't want to have to pay 100+ for an omnibus or epic collection on the used market.
>>155670007Dc and marvel making cheap compacts was a good decision
>>155669885>This team wins too much, if you bought all their highlight reels you'd have video for days>You should look at this other team whose highlights you could finish with your morning coffee
>>155669945None of the comics in that box would be worth 5 cents
If you want a complete series you just buy the complete box set, which usually goes for $100-$150.Akira's deluxe edition box set is $130.Even the collector edition stuff on the higher end that comes with extra goodies like Dungeon Meshi's are like $170.Even the complete series box set for FMA is like $190, which translates to ~$7 per volume. That said, manga is WAAAAAAY cheaper in Japan, you can get a full 20 volume series over there for like $70.
Comic fans being obsessed with condition means buying them used mean they'll likely be in better shape compared to most manga which lot of the time is really beat up used.
>>155669885Manga is more bang for your buck despite decompression. All those USM or Knightfall omnis are worthless.
>>155670007Gotta have my manga they’re only charging more for shit translations and censorship
Kindle Edition
>>155672040Well yeah. Manga is actually good.
>>155670074That's soulless too.
>>155674512Shut up.
>>155670364Ouch.
>>155670057I like their simple design and over-all built. What I don't like is that fake leather will crack over time.
>>155670150What is the Trigun? Is that like a 3 legendary guns put together?
>>155677853Correct.
>>155669885You're not meant to collect manga, you're meant to read it once, wipe your ass with it, and throw it in the trash.
>>155670364By this logic Action Comics mogs Dragon Ball since it's been coming out non-stop since 1939.
>>155680564Action Comics has almost no wins.
>>155669885Goddammit. Did /shelf/ die already?
>>155669885It's because you can start at issue one and read through current whereas DC/Marvel wants to just advertise "famous " runs/story arcs and then have you skip around without context. It's incredibly unsatisfying and a big rain I haven't gotten more into American superhero comics. DC/Marvel with seethe at this but it's true. They've even begun trying to publish all of their biggest titles in collections but they still these them out of order based on what they think the most famous runs are so you've got volume 23 coming out followed by volume 88 and then ten years later you finally get volume 24. No one wants that and new readers aren't going to get into that. People will say they would never read that many issues, but something like One Piece is just as long as nearly any American superhero title and a lot of people have read it. The truth is they just don't want to publish it
>buying a story arc of a western comic is cheaper than buying a complete manga seriesWho could have imagined this? Groundbreaking concept OP, you better report it to someone who can get the idea out there.
