Chadulk hereI have a question for you, capeshitters:>what is stopping capeshit writers from being creative?I unfortunately read a lot of capeshit, either marvel and dc, and they are uncreative slopPokémon moves such as Trick Room showcase how Japanese media are infinitely more creative when it comes to powers and fights than Western superhero comic books. This is a weird statement, but hear me out. What exactly is Trick Room? Well, for a few turns, slower Pokémon move first, while faster Pokémon move second. In the Pokémon anime, this is depicted as a small room created around the fighting Pokémon.Trick Room is a form of reality warping, but a very specific, rule-based variation of it.My question is: why have characters in Western superhero comic books who possess unlimited power to alter reality never used their powers in such a creative and unconventional way? What is stopping them?

Editorial. Also, I hate to say it but one real reason is that anime has had a specific way of approaching fight scenes differently.Hokuto No Ken followed kung fu movie rules of everything coming down to one blow, and JoJo part 3 really established this "one specific power and the winner comes down to whoever has the trickiest way of winning."
>>155670397Modern western writers can't into action because they think of it as prestige TV/streaming writing rather comfortable, "how will they get out of this?"-writing. Sure sometimes they throw a wrench like Planet Hulk or Secret Empire something into the mix where they orchestrate a situation that is hard to get out of, but they rarely ever think if new ways to use the powers because they aren't paid enough or are hacks who think the powers have already been fully explored in all situations. The same could be said to a lesser extent with the old writers from the 60's because they couldn't dream of DBZ type action. They think the reader is cynical like them and thinks "Oh I'm reading a Hulk issue and that means he HAS to win or he HAS to live by the end." In actuality, that's where they're wrong in that everyone already knows that but they still engage with it anyway.
Deathbattle threads and all the posters need to be purged from the board, its literally just letting spammers and shitposters from other boards illegally immigrate their shit into /co/.
>>155670397Comic writers are too dumb to write complex powers.
>>155670462Most "anime fans" are surface level normies and larpers so its not surprising they dint know
