/co/ keeps whining about this show, but it's been wildly successful. Should I actually watch it?

It's an OK show when it's not delving into one of its "stop the whole episode to do a twitter rant" moments
>>
>>155692323
I avoided the threads until I binged up to episode 6, was enjoying it a lot and then went to the threads to discuss it, only to find nothing but burgers arguing about their gay culture war shit as usual. So my conclusion is you might enjoy it if you're not so brainrotted you need to view all media through the lens of politics.

if /co/ is whining about something that's usually a clear indication that it's a good thing. i learned that years ago and it still holds true to this day

Never underestimate the general audience's love for buddy cop stories. It's hard to fuck those up.

Gambling is also a successful industry with millions of players yet that's no excuse for a person to gamble themselves. Watch it because you want to, not because view count goes Brrr

Did you watch high guardian spice and Lesbian space princess?

Its a decent show. It disrespects the characters of both Jon Stewart and Hal Jordan. It rewrites the lore, though not in completely terrible ways, but certainly in some "I'm a lazy writer" type of way in some instances. And the show is racist as shit. But if you ignore the one or two racist scenes each episode, and the disrespect to the source material, then you'll enjoy it just fine.

Actually what I've learned is that if something is good then there is almost no discussion about it BECAUSE there is not much to bitch about.

Yes, thank you for reminding me people are stupid.
>>
>>155692663
There's nothing disrespectful about the source material, nor racist, in the show.

Imagine opening your throat for the blatant politics getting shoved down your throat and then acting like something is wrong with people who don't want that

People might take you more seriously if you weren’t caught lying all the time and crying “muh politics” every time a woman or black person steps on screen

>Averages 19 Million Viewers
That is extremely low. The Penguin had 24 million and still flopped.

One thing I can never quite understand is why it even matters how many people watch a show on streaming. It's not like it's selling ad time like a TV show. Surely the only thing that matters for a streaming service is that subscriber number go up, and that's not really even dependant on anyone watching anything, just that they keep paying their monthly subscription.

>Lanterns Averages 19 Million Viewers
HBO has 140 million subscribers.

So 13.6% watch it, and it's not like there's anything else to watch at HBO right now either.
>>
>>155697389
You need high viewer shows and movies to attract new subsections and keep the pre-existing ones. A hot new show everyone is talking about that you can only see from HBO Max will get those new subs and it will likely keep old ones from cancelling because there’s a new season coming up
>>
>>155697389
I suppose the idea isnthatvthey have the draw with the new show. I suppose the real metric is how many subscriptions did they get after the premiere. That would indicate people who aren't already subbed thinking Lanterns is good.
