How come season 2 wasn't as good as season 1?

less sexual abuse at the workplace

It wasn’t that bad, the Apocalypse two parter was better than everything in S1 and the finale was the same level of contrived as the S1 finale. The only bad part really was Polaris.

>X Men 97 season 2

>not called X Men 98
>season 3 not called X Men 99
>season 4 (if it makes it that long) not called X Men 2000

This member berries for a 90s Saturday morning cartoon only has so much juice. It was never meant to be anything more than tire spinning for a 30 year old cartoon -- how many new episodes can that sustain?

Season 1 just threw everything into a blender with touches of Krakoa and Grant's new X Men because they didn't know if they'd get a season 2 so no point in holding off on stories they want to build to. But it got renewed, and there's nothing left to say... except pandering to nostalgia for the jackets they wore during New X Men. What are they gonna adapt - The Twelve? How much *good* X Men lore was there left to explore?

The original X Men cartoon ended just as Marvel's bankruptcy (financially and creatively) took hold. 1997 to like 2001/2002 when Quesada/Jemas settled in was a really bad time creatively for Marvel.

Not naming the seasons "X Men 98" and so on, is the biggest red flag about no creativity. If it was an actual passion project, each new season would be a new year, and while they would have to fudge the timelines, it would start to adapt the good corners of X Men comics from those ensuing years... X Statix, Igor Kordey's Soldier X in Bosnia, Hine's District X, X Factor Investigations, Yost and Kyle's Academy X, hell NYX and introduce Laura, a standalone Juston and Sentinel episode. going full circle and having the "X Men 2000" season embody the Bryan Singer movie. Culminate in something like Messiah Complex or Remender's Uncanny X Force

90s X Men comics mostly sucked and this is just Disney consoomer slop for that time period. Its just that the Genosha destruction had no right being as good as it was

This pretty much sums it up there's a massive drop in quality after his final episode and the new writing team take over.

>Season 1 just threw everything into a blender

The original cartoon was "everything into a blender" with a Jim Lee's skin.

correction: "everything Claremont"

and the cartoon was running out of Claremont stories to adapt. The last season started with a Phalanx event

Two incorrect statements in half a sentence

It was better and the worst parts involved writing around the godless homosexual's terrible ideas.

They're rushing things so they can do M-Day

DeMayo had a five year plan, he was rushing through stories because he was a fanboy who wanted to cover as much as possible.

It was more than Claremont. Most of the Apocalypse stuff came from Louise Simonson's X-Factor run, he was never an X-Men villain at the time. Magneto attacking the military base, Juggernaut, Master Mold, all from Lee/Kirby. Magneto's Savage Land mutates and Sauron from Roy Thomas/Neal Adams, Sinister's Nasty Boys were from PAD's X-Factor with his particular version of X-Factor showing up later, Omega Red was from John Byrne/Jim Lee after Claremont left, Bishop from Byrne/Portacio, Graydon Creed, Belladonna, and Nightcrawler's origin from Scott Lobdell, the Weapon X stuff from Barry Windosor-Smith and Larry Hama, Sinister's origin was an altered version of Peter Milligan's. They mostly drew from Claremont because the guy wrote X-Men from 1975 to 1991 and even then there was a lot they never covered.

Season 1 wasn't all that great to begin with. Everything was rushed as fuck

The whole thing ran on fat losers that never moved on from kid shows they grew up with an wanted what they had growing up. This is an impossibility to make or sustain so any praise season 1 got was just revisiting the childhood of old. Same thing happen with Star Wars Force Awakens, people were just excited for Star Wars in theaters again after nine years and the old actors reprising rolls. After Last Jedi shat the bed everyone took apart the first movie because the spell was broken.

making a five year plan was a mistake too.

Yeah, the Lewalds said on the original show they always assumed whatever season they were working on would be the last, they had no multi-season plans.
