I remember trying to go to school for a fine arts degree as a standard industry job and spend my free time working on my own ideas. That never pained out, and turned to old and sick to barely function daily. I envy all artists that find their niche while holding a job. Certainly it would had been good learning how to do most artisan skills in some form of trade job as well. Better be good at trig for contract work.

Jhonen's work means a lot to me and it's the only thing I haven't read so I've been saving them for over a decade for a bad time. I finally read #1 this past summer because there was a night I was genuinely about to kill myself, bashed my heae into a door. In retrospect, I think Johnny The Homicidal Maniac was actually Jhonen's weakest work specifically because of the gore. It impedes its own thesis statement of condemning Johnny's enemies as less than human when his response to them is to brutally dissect them like an actual serial killer. Going on to do a music video for Mindless Self Indulgence and appearing on Double Toasted didn't help, either.
