Honestly enjoying season so far but God for "best friends" abaddon and Esther barely hang out. This season did make me appreciate Ben more he's goated in the concierge ep and that he and abaddon are "brothers" but weird how much they push abaddon and Ben to hanging out and even Kathy but not his supposed bestie. Really is funny seeing abaddon using magic relics implies he knows how like esther but prefers to fight feral unlike her. Also interseting ben plot honestly ben was a bit of a focus this season with 4 stand out eps and this was one)>2.The visit-Not as great as last seasons but fun to see more of alive nathan and get more on Kathy's relationship with her ex. Also funny esther was always so confident but they do set up it's because her dad kind of leaves her a lot so she had to grow up.>3. Ghost day out- Fun b plot with randy and ben happy randy did become a main stay. Love him as a loser friend for ben it's fun and like when kids actually have kid friends in these type of shows. The main plot was great love seeing nathan come to terms with his own mortality or lack there of. An really the key heart of the series almost want to put it above The visit or dinner party but those two just have more funny moments in general>4.Astral esther-really fun mom ep, made me like shayna more she really was a good middle ground for esther and kathy. I also like they do keep her muted a lot better than making her stand out to much. Ben and Abaddon had a nice bonding moment too, Abaddon canonically wants to "ruin ben's innocence" and is the big brother I'm sure the fujos will go wild.

Though I do think similar to my other note falls a bit to hard into the "esther" wanking. I hope the "you'll save the world thing" was just him trying to trick her for help. I feel like esther is best being just a little girl who isn't super compotent like ep 1 and ep 3 and 5. She should have fears and worries also crazy how confident she was looking down his gun barrel like that was a bit crazy even for her. Esther in a earlier episode screams looking at random dead bodies. I feel esther should be tough against magic and things but not something so real since she is against murder.>7. The concierge-Mostly want to rate it higher but really the ghost election plot kind of just comes and goes. But ben kathy part really sells the episode ben gets to be a cool and hero for once and shows he might be a coward but he loves his family. Ben really this season has won me over. I never saw the appeal but this ep alone makes me really root for him and his growth.

Just finished watching the season, it was pretty damn fine. On the other hand, it feels like a very "mid of the show" season, you know what I mean? I think it’s fair to say this is the best thing Netflix has put out in years, if not ever, animation wise or not. It definitely doesn’t feel like something you’d find in their portfolio. Most of their originals are laughably bad. I've been rewatching a lot of 90s-00s shows for spooky season like tales of the cryptkeeper and you have these great styles for 2 season then when it's bought in 03 suddenly the style gets super downgraded and cheap looking. An it's only gotten worse since then. Basically just go the cheapest route and while the animation got smoother they would never let them switch to something off a more basic rig style. But really do love seeing esther with the more distorted expression. It's lowkey the inverse of the anime cuteification thing where they sometimes fear to draw ugly faces or distortions that give wrinkle lines. Also obviously not because notice how much indie animation and animatic style things are more popular. Only purists really care that much.
