geez, no wonder John K hates the 80s so much
>>
>>155834802
John hates anything that isn't 40s WB or his childhood cartoons.
>>
>>155834802
luckily for John K he has a right to an opinion
just like my opinion of John K is a horrible but talented person
>>
>>155834802
80s is too old. John k likes the 10 and unders
>>
>>155834802
most 80's cartoons are shitty toy ads
>>
>>155834802
You know what they call Pound Puppies in Paris?
>>
this show was good though. it's basically proto-A Pup Named Scooby Doo.
>>
>>155835542

They don't call it Pound Puppies?
>>
>>155835705
same production studio to I bet
Kennedy Cartoons
>>
>>155835429
the change starts in 87
>>
>>155835743
Nah, it predates Kennedy Cartoons. The animation was definitely more lively than most of the static 80s cartoons that came before it but it wasn't quite the wacky, surreal stuff that would happen with A Pup Named Scooby-Doo or even Garfield and Friends later in the decade. It's sort of a bridge between those shows and the dead animal shows like Monchichis and Shirt Tales.
>>
The 70s-early 80s recessions did a number on animation, by the mid-80s there was economic prosperity that slowly brought about more investment in the industry.
>>
>>155835905
and, well, the boomers entering the industry and imagining TV animation could be more than cheap babysitters for kids
>>
I like this show more than any of the things John K ever made.
>you’re an idiot!
>you’re retarded!
>how could you?
>Ren and Stimpy is actually super important!
Don’t care. Never liked the man’s output. I can appreciate its place in history and I’d never argue that his work was bad, but I don’t like them. It all just seems like vapid yelling and wacky faces. Pound Puppies is pretty bland and unimpressive but I still would rather watch it than The Ripping Friends.

t. Billy West
>>
>>155836062
I like both. I just like well made cartoons.
>>
>>155836085
It says quite a lot when a guy who seemingly takes every role offered to him has drawn the line at ever working with John again.
>>
>>155836085
>>155836123
>Boo hoo John made him actually do more than one voice take he was so oppressed ffs
>>
>>155836167
Yeah and then when John was asked to simply complete things on time for his job (something every Nick creator before and since him has managed to do) he had a meltdown bitch fit and was fired.
>>
>>155836167
Nice coping
>>
>>155836167
Making voice actors do 130 takes just to torment them is not "reasonable."
>>
>>155836285
That isn't what happened. In fact, Billy West was grateful to work on the show because it was his first real gig working in the industry. The rift in their relationship bagan because John demanded Billy quit the show when the network fired Spumco. Billy didn't develop any grudge towards John until John said a bunch of nasty stuff about him afterwards and they had a pretty public falling out.
>>
>>155834802
He’s just mad that his version of Mighty Mouse got canceled back then.
>>
wasn't there a remake on the Hub at some point?
