Like claiming the core characters don't get character development, or that you have to choose either episodic or serialized even though he immediately acknowledges that Avatar is also a mix of both and is very good.He thinks the side stories were about developing the side characters when they were really about resolving issues with the core characters or introducing new powers for Steven. Like the episode about Steven going to Kevin's party wasn't about developing Kevin, it was about Steven making up with Connie after he turned himself in to homeworld. The episode about Steven fighting Kiki's pizza nightmares isn't about developing Kiki, it's about introducing Steven's psychic powers. Powers he uses against the diamonds.There are reasonable arguments you can make against Steven Universe. The show isn't perfect. But this guy appears to be gish galloping bad arguments to exaggerate the show's problems, and I'm not gonna take 4 hours dismantling his 2 hours of bullshit.
I like steven universe but I will note that I only watched two seasons.

The premise was interesting, but... They should've spent a couple more hours during pitching to flesh out the overall story a bit more.
