The pitch that showed the rabbit friend becoming the "face" of the corruption talked about how he was basically a meme spewing chud while pretty much every HB/early CN character fucking dies in that initial battle the trailer showed, leaving us with just the OC's. The April Fool's event where Adult Swim pibbified the shows for the night was probably more creative than anything the actual show would have given us.

And as you'll now notice, the "meme darkness" basically killed the enthusiasm among those who didn't figure all the rest of it out.

Why? Because this wasn't about the fucking show itself, people wanted their official zalgo. That's what it was about from day one. It was the closest thing to a horror show about a cartoon trying to survive Zalgo and even better, they wanted the Darkness as a Schmorky-free Zalgo replacement.

I have seen this same story play out 15 times since the Deadpool movie (which only happened because FOX being unsure of the character's popularity was literally the last barrier to a greenlight)

Whenever there's a crossover between two cartoons, one of the most important things is finding out how to make the characters of one show work within the color gradient of the other so that the audiences eyes don't fucking bleed. Especially brighter colors.

You see this in the Simpsons-Family guy crossover. The Family Guy eyes, Peter's shirt, Brian's fur, et cetera. They're all dulled down to match the whites of the Simpsons. Because white in particular is a color that will strain the hell out of your vision if it's out of line from its surroundings.

Sure it can work for those few seconds of Finn's hat on the screen that we saw, but longer chase sequences? It gets bad

Basically every crossover character would need this done at least to the whites of their eyes among other elements of design before the darkness got them which basically means some poor schmuck would need to figure out how to blend all the color schemes together in something with more streamline.

It's shocking how many people online act like it's a whole-ass show already out, I've seen people analyze the shit out of it and write some 10-hour video essay on it as if it was anything more than just a little teaser. I think they do this because it went viral for a bit and people just wanted in on the algorithm bandwagon.

Pibby had a hugely successful pilot/teaser too, the main difference is that Pibby almost entirely relied on getting a shitload of IPs greenlit alongside it, which is like winning a NASCAR race and then trying to get sponsored at the next race after adding a dabbing mannequin and a 100lb trunk full of fanfiction in the car, and getting pissed when sponsors say they'll fund you if you take the trunk and mannequin out, then whining to the internet about how nobody wants to sponsor you.
