Will Duane keep his composure?
>>

How far are we to sundown?

>3rd panel
Oh she's MAD mad. I can see Nora doing something to rile up Duane and scare Sonorie so she can have him under her thumb again.
>>155887403
>How far are we to sundown?
Dunno but I think Nora might be thinking about this too soon.
>>
>>155887403
Probably a few hours, doubt Nora would schedule a meeting with the Queen when there's only a few minutes to prove Duane's whole soul is present.

Cue the retards:
>WHAT? IS DUANE IN ALDERODE NOW?

Interesting transition to Miki while also visually reiterating the conversation itself. And a nice detail with the queen grabbing her red gloved hand that burnt Roger. Layers upon layers.

What do you mean? Goodwin is going to suplex Nora next page.

I'm still waiting for someone to solve the mystery of how miki can be a ghost in duane's mind when she's still alive
>>
>>155887351
I wonder if she's gonna try to play the hand of offering Duane to not wipe out the Soud and use them as Cresce's new pissmop step child (provided they acknowledge her queenliness and stop with that Ssaelit nonsense)
Survival, and perhaps even slightly better treatment than in Alderode but becoming entirely a caged people
>>
>>155888352
>Hey kid, you want your people to become the new two-toes?
>>
>>155887803
Wasn't Emil aware of this? Dude's a straight shooter, I imagine he wouldn't leave the "he does turn into a legit zombie at night" bit out when telling her about him
>>
>>155887803
What would that prove? Being mindless beasts is the default expectation of plods infected by ghosts. The fact that there is a large period where Adelier is human is what's remarkable in the first place.
>>
What do we think the new development is?
>>
>>155889107
If they haven't been working on it, it's likely because almost all the Black Tongues are dead and Roger's soul disappeared before the work on his soul could be completed. I imagine whatever new development has taken place relates to either Bastion and/or Darkest.

And what of the Soud when they're all used up like 'poor Roger,' I wonder.
>>
>>155888266
Duane has perfect memory because he isn't held back by a fleshy brain. Miki's "ghost" was Duane involuntarily remembering her when sundown drew close. He gets unwanted Mikaila.mp4 hallucination popups while going fucking nuts because he's being sucked into the khert and until recently most likely thought he was literally seeing ghosts.
>>
>>155889431
Not really distinct, but a subset of the copper caste. Coppers are the population from which the rulers are selected and groomed.

Miki and Duane have a father/daughter khert connection. I know this.

>Alderode's end is near
Rich coming from the country with a recent coup, secret culling, apartheid, and multiple sekret weapons backfiring all at once
>>
>>155891193
The difference is, those issues weren't systemic (except for the apartheid, but even that was exacerbated by the same recent events). Cresce has gone through political upheaval and a lot of deaths, and it could have gone through even worse, but there was never any risk that the state itself could have collapsed.

The Souds are the only natural caste. Their whole thing is the dhammakhert ignores them.
>>
Alderode's probably more robust than Sonorie thinks and she'll be saying "two more weeks" for the rest of her life.
>>
>>155891014
The Soud would persist without the dammakhert, probably better than before since it's almost certainly component to the fertility crisis. Soud are little more than Aldified ethnic Tains.
>>
>>155891143
Cutter saying 'A-BLOO-HOO-HOO!' goes here.
>>
>>155892020
The plan is to use the dammakhert as a back door to mind rape the Aldish and then use the constructs to kill anyone this doesn't work on, I suspect. The Queen's comment here makes it seem the mind rape plan might not be spoiled after all.
>>
>>155892374
Duane's khert vision showed Alds going for the Soud like they were all Roger Foi Hellick, with Crescian constructs mixed in. But it also showed the Silver in Alderode and that's been since destroyed so who knows

It's crazy how unsounded is actually libertarian propaganda when you get right down to it.
>>
>>155891715
Yes and no. Soud are immune to almost all the effects of the Dammakhert, but they get treated like a caste by it, with all the fucky effects that has on breeding. IIRC, non-alds who have children under the Dammakhert can give birth to Soud children, and Soud who leave Alderode can give birth to kids who look nothing like them.
>>

It seems so.
>>
>>155894229
Nah, it's pretty easy to bring people together if you can just make them believe that they're working towards something better. Of course, actually working to improve things is hard, so the powerful and power-hungry prefer outgroup narratives.

they are immune to all effects of the Dammakhert

>with all the fucky effects that has on breeding
>IIRC, non-alds who have children under the Dammakhert can give birth to Soud children

wrong

Souds are not affected by the Dammakhert at all, their phenotype is fully natural and no Soud will be born from foreigners entering Alderode
>>
>>155895744
>>Souds are not affected by the Dammakhert at all
But they are a bit - Souds convinced outside of the Dammakhert look Soud, but aren't Soud.
Souds can breed with foreigners to create other castes

There's minimal impact, but its there.

>>
>>155891483
It went through all of that in the span of like a month. The only reason Sonorie isn't ousted yet is most of her opponents outed themselves in the failed coup.
But their economy and social strata has a long way before recovery.
>>
>>155897536
"Recovery?" What economic or social recovery does Cresce need? The state is functioning well- those things that it promises its citizens, those citizens get. There are no shortages of food or supplies from what we know of- sure, many cities and towns are likely still recovering from the Silver's rampages, but that's different from the state/country as a whole needing to recover.

Sonorie was unpopular because of her stance on Alderode- both taking an Aldish husband and not being HARD enough on the country. She didn't take the Silver weapon and was not pushing for invasion or holy war, though people wanted her to. But she killed roger and promised to strike at Alderode, though not through war, so those problems have mostly been solved.
>>
>>155897314
weren't ulestryans just an offshot of cresce?
>>
>>155898211
Ulestry is a Crescian satellite state. Looking back at the Red Berry Boys chapters, it's full of brown people but those people aren't as dark as the average Crescian.
>>
>>155898122
you do forget that cresce communism/totalitarism was impopular on all frontier towns and a lot of people were angry at having their settlements literally dismantled because the capital deemed them useless

Cresce operates a good chunk of the country like 1800s corporate towns
>>
>>155898304
didn't notice that, i though they were culturally something akin to "farmland crescians"
>>
>>155898122
When you get a lot of nobles suddenly dead, you need time to divvy up the belongings, make sure the heritors don't spend it overnight on booze and boobs, and that they swear fealty. Otherwise you're gonna have a lot of intrigue coming down the pipeline in the middle of trying to get supplies to the front lines.
There's also all the two-toes with a memory span better than a goldfish's, who'll remember how easily and quickly the nation turned on them overnight, and will be less likely to return happily to work without some kind of guarantee of better treatment (which the business owners and citizenry will oppose because it's different from the status quo). Ignore the two-toes, you get strikes, riots, crippled industries during war time, and worse.
>>
>>155898306
>impopular on all frontier towns
It was unpopular in Ethelmik specifically because it was a mining town whose mines ran dry, it was the crescian equivalent of a rust belt town. Other than that, most of the discontent was actively being stoked by shartes.
>>
>>155896121
>Souds convinced outside of the Dammakhert look Soud, but aren't Soud
How so? Nobody can breed with foreigners to create castes except within the Dammakhert IIRC.
>>
>>155898998
The Dammakhert tags a newborn Soud soul within it as SOUD. If the baby was born outside of it then its soul would not have that tag. That's the only difference for a Soud born inside or outside.
>>
>>155899166
Given how they're unaffected, this creates the implication that it's not just the souls that are affected, but that the dammakhert itself has some sort of "memory" function. It's able to keep track of not just tags, but what is weirdly untagged. If the Soud are truly immune, this is really the only way it can work: if the dammakhert can "log" souls without having to directly touch them, and thus be able to go "this is Soul #Whatever, untagged, and thus treated in the untagged way." I think, this has come up in the thread before, that a Soud that leaves and comes back is still properly accounted for. But they have to be "made" in dammakhert for it to "know" it's a Soud.
>>
>>155899234
> that a Soud that leaves and comes back is still properly accounted for
Yes. Once they have the tag it sticks with them. And Souds aren't truly immune but practically are. It's more that the Dammakhert has no programmed instructions for Soud after tagging them unlike the other castes. Someone could probably reprogram it to do stuff to Soud but that's beyond the capabilities of the Alds. The Etalarche curse wouldn't be such a hack job if they could edit it that deeply.
>>
>>155898564
Fuckin' shartes. Shit would be 100% chill without all these Shartesian sympathisers out here. Can't we do something about them?
>>
>>155898306
>Cresce operates a good chunk of the country like 1800s corporate towns

That's a good comparison when you understand that a corporation is a form of government, only it has shareholders instead of a congress or a ministry. There's a good reason it was illegal for them to exist in the United States.
>>
>>155887403
They know he goes back to being a zombie, right? I assume that's what the restraints are for.
>>
>>155887725
one random getting confused by a transition panel really got to you that badly ey?
>>
>>155896121
Souds are just Tains with a special dammakhert designation where they are passed over by the fucky effects. A Soud born outside of the dammakhert loses that special privilege but genetically there are no differences between a Soud and Tain beyond that.
>>
>>155899683
>That's a good comparison when you understand that a corporation is a form of government, only it has shareholders instead of a congress or a ministry.
1800s, not modern.

Corporate Towns were effectively wage slavery set ups where the person was entirely dependent on the settlement's owner to live. Miner would get paid in "local money" that could only be used there, and all goods were owned by the corporation. No social mobility and you'd be literally worked to death on a mine.
