LanternBros... what happened? I thought we were a ratings smash hit? Why are they taking so long to greenlight season 2?
>>
>>155898566
I haven't seen the show, but it was objectively a hit.
It's similar to Penguin not getting a 2nd season, it's because they didn't want to make one.
if the writers decide not to make a 2nd season, it's their wishes, not HBO's

It's Lindelof Watchmen Part II

they should just cancel everything about it and fire everyone involved

It was.

The answer is right there in your twitter screencap. Did you not finish reading before you ran off to make a thread?

Delusional as fuck. It was a hit with the usual twitter crowd, and that's about it. Most people who like the DCU avoided it like the plague, and people who were fans of Green Lantern thought it was absolute putrid piss-shit.

Anyone who thinks it was good doesn't actually like Green Lantern, because they barely fucking used any in the show, and killed off one of the main Lanterns in the beginning. As usual with Damon Lindelof slop, it revolved heavily around racial politics, same with WATCHMEN, and just like WATCHMEN, it will get cancelled with lefty dipshits acting stupefied pretending it did great and Warner Bros just hates money.

I haven’t seen the show but it was objectively important. We need to address systemic racism in more media.

Anyone saying Lanterns was "a hit" is just straight up lying or at the very least fudging the numbers. Nielsen Ratings show the highest it ever reached was number 7 on the charts.
>But 10 million views!!!!
Worldwide, which isn't good

Most people will miss this subtle satire.

It never cracked the top 10 overall according to Nielsen. It only ever tracked on Acquired Series (in 8th place, before rising to 7th).

This is cope.

how are we even determining success anymore

7th place for Acquired Series. It never charted on the overall Top 10. It got mogged by illustrious hits like Reacher, Reacher's spin off about fucking Neagley, Ted Lasso, and SheridanSlop Lioness.

Hal Jordan's actor deserved a better show.

are people really pretending the show wasn’t an objective hit? it was rivaling the penguin in viewership

Any word on that basedboy Coy getting reprimanded by DC yet? The guy who runs the DC podcast who said anyone who doesn't like Lanterns is a moron who deserve to die?

I would think a decent writers room would be able to come up with enough worthy ideas for multiple seasons. Just goes to show you how fucking far writer rooms have fallen talent wise

i would call them people

Code for "we have to figure out a way to bring back Kyle Chandler so people keep watching" only problem is the writers room is full of terminally woke retards who are currently steaming that they can't make a superhero show entirely about John Stewart beating up white guys all across rural America with no superpowers or superheroics
>>
>>155898566
Unless they up the budget I'd say this show has exhausted all its potential. The concept of the show really doesn't fit Green Lantern. The likable parts of this show are purely due to the two leads, Hal and John are pretty entertaining to watch, the show is a failure otherwise. The aliens look like humans, the ring has to always be dying so the characters don't have to use it, likewise Guy Gardner has to be strangely polite because they do not want to animate a fight between him and John. Can you see them writing plots with Sinestro and Atrocitus with all these constraints?
The only sequel this shit should get is an actual movie, and it needs to end with Hal, John, and Guy all teaming up. There's really nothing else that can fix Season 1's problems.

That's a new one. Got any clips?

Its pretty obvious what's happened:

** Everyone at WB, DCU, HBO knows they need Kyle Chandler back **

But he signed a one-season contract.

So now they need to go back to him and try to recruit him all over again. Which means paying him more to clear his schedule and do this. And the script has to be "good enough" to get him to come back.

But they're still on a tight budget, so they can't do "space opera" like the diehard fanboys want. So it has to be another mystery-thing.

And then IF Kyle Chandler agrees and they can rein in the budget, then HBO would give them a green light

"Lanterns" was never meant to be a multi-season show like "Arrow"
It was a "prequel miniseries" - to explain why John will just show up as GL in "Man of Tomorrow"

Its pretty clear from Gunn that his movies aren't going to do origin stories. And Green Lantern is still too tainted as a movie prospect thanks to Ryan Reynolds.

They planned to make an Aaron Pierre breakout mini and accidentally hit with a Kyle Chandle series and now they rework things to capitalize on it
