What would’ve happened if Aang had not run away? Would he have been able to fight off the Fire Nation attack, escape to either the earth kingdom or the water tribes, or would he have gotten killed?

He’d probably activate Avatar State by pure plot armor like always, foy to the Fire Nation and onesidedly stomp the Firelord just like at the end.
