How much did he actually contribute to the golden age of his shows?
Epstein sex trafficking victim foot rub receiver.
>>155911952Nothing
>>155911952Probably about 10% and that's being generous. He did set the groundwork, establish the characters and their personalities, and got the ball rolling with the Ulman shorts so it's not like he's incapable of providing creative input. He's basically like George Lucas. Has creative ideas but needs tons of people to tard wrangle him and actually make his creations good.
if im not mistaken, matt only ever had writing credits on like 4 episodes and one of them was 22 short films, which had 22 writers. i have no idea which segment he wrote but im sure it wasn't one of the good segments
>>155911952I don't think full credits for the OG Simpsons shorts exist anywhere, but Groening apparently wrote every one of them himself. There's some funny stuff in there so he deserves at least *some* of the credit for setting the groundwork https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwKdq4OiyqA Groening has some comedy writing prowess, but his latest work sadly makes it clear he's pretty washed now
>>155911952Sam Simon, who was the showrunner for the first two years of the show, was asked during the first season how much Groening contributed and he replied, "He's the show's ambassador."Now, Simon and Groening hated each other so you've got to take that into account. The show and the main characters would not exist without Groening's work on the OG shorts. But he had never written a half-hour episode and Simon was in charge of teaching everyone how to write a sitcom (Jean and Reiss were the only experienced sitcom writers on the original staff), so Groening couldn't contribute much at that point beyond giving general notes.Basically Groening created the family, Simon created the "world" of the Simpsons and their writing formula in seasons 1-2. Then Jean and Reiss became showrunners in seasons 3-4 and did a lot to shape what we think of as the Simpsons style of comedy.
>>155913424He is also one of the 12 credited writers on the first movieApparently, Ralph singing in the fox logo was his idea as well as the pig shit part of the plot
>>155911985Fpbp, sick freak
>>155911985>>155915700Why is no one making a big deal out of this.
>>155914404red pill me on Sam Simon
>>155911985This>simpsons predicted a lot of disasters Gee i wonder why!
>>155916072He was an experienced sitcom writer who got his first break working for James L. Brooks on "Taxi" and ended up becoming co-showrunner for the final season. After that he worked on "Cheers" and again for Brooks on "The Tracey Ullman Show." He had some experience in cartooning (he worked for Filmation before he got the "Taxi" gig) so he was the obvious choice to run the spinoff.Simon and Groening wrote the episode that was supposed to be the premiere, "Some Enchanted Evening," which ended up being aired last in the season due to animation problems.Simon developed a lot of the supporting cast, though it's not clear which characters were his idea, and he hired the writing staff, mostly young guys who had worked for the humor publication "Army Man" and were very loyal to him because he taught them how to write sitcom without losing their edge entirely. He did not get along with Groening and after the fourth season he left the show permanently, but not before negotiating a generous settlement that gave him a piece of the merchandise and a permanent executive producer credit for doing nothing.
>>155912799Wrong.
>>155915944Because he ordered the show to make a profeminism episode in preparation for when the news hit he was in the fly list. Before it leaked tho, he had already completed the episode where bart is upset at the genderbent icthy & scratchy show and somehow ends in a clique of radical feminist students.
>>155911952Only right wing White men can make art, so Swartzwelder contributed far more.
>>155916114consider me red pilledmakes me wonder why he and Groening hated each other
He provided a bedrock for smarter, more talented people to produce memorable work. For all their ability it's unlikely any of them would have conceived something as striking and elemental as matt's caricature of the american family.
>>155918042>He provided a bedrock-- WILMAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>155917834Different views and Matt’s ego, probably
>>155917040Kys, seething faggot
>>155916114>negotiating a generous settlement that gave him a piece of the merchandisedude was fucking set for life
>>155911952>create show>hand it off to better writers>don't get in their wayI fail to see the problem. Sometimes a creator's best work is done by someone else.
