>ST: What projects outside of GloomCookie are you working on right now?>SV: I am working on a project called Nightmares & Fairy Tales, a series of short stories that are self-contained. Each story will conclude itself within one to three issues. The main character of the series is Annabelle, a creepy doll. Annabelle will be the only recurring character. Each story will feature new characters & events giving the reader a variety of stories and characters to enjoy. The stories will range in feel, from horror to dark fairy tales. Some of the stories will be rather light, while others will be quite disturbing. I feel that FSC's art will be both a good contrast and compliment to both styles of writing. Her name is Foo Swee Chin but she likes to be called and referred to as FSC.>Her art is very cute with a rather disturbing edge to it. I am so excited to be working with a girl! And it's cool that two girls will be doing a horror comic! >Why did you pick Crab Scrambly as your artist for this storyline?>No one else could have illustrated this story like Crab. His art is so unique and gave the story exactly the atmosphere I was looking for. Also, he feels just as strongly about the material as I do. He became invested in these characters and connected to them in a way I’ve never experience with any other artist. From the beginning he understood what I wanted to do with this story, what impact I wanted it to make, and how important it was that we create a voice for Madame Lalaurie’s victims.>Tell us a little about Camilla d’Errico and why you felt she was right for the job.>Camilla’s art is gorgeous, and honestly, perfect for the stories I have in mind. So I thought I'd just try my luck, since there is no chance of getting things published locally. After a year and some more, Dan showed the stuff I mailed over to Serena and she decided to let me draw Nightmares and Fairytales. I am really fortunate. I remember having that up on my dorm wall in college along with other goth comics Amazing Screw On Head and next to an Evanescene poster. I might have posted a pic of it in my room here back in the day. Well. Might have been on /b/ before we had /co/. I also had an Annabelle plush doll. I think I might have had it in the dorm or maybe just back home. It's in a box somewhere now.
