WHEEL SMASHING LORD 6-205

The Eternal Edge

>his favorite sword was thirty long, the hilt with two handed grip and wrapped in oxhide. it was balanced expertly, and a name engraved under the tang - a relative of some sort, he was fond of saying, though it beggared belief that such a man had emerged in this world anything than fully formed. >>
>>155922328
Unironically, how can Maya recover from getting aura diffed this hard?
>>
>>155922328
Maya's like a fantasy jeet right? Is Incubus from the same world? Is he actually an albino jeet?
>>
>>155922328
>Incubus knew the answer to the riddle all along

Fucking kino, he spent most of books 3 to 5 losing aura and becoming increasingly pathetic, hell he was freaking out when this fight began, but he might actually be closer to Royalty than we assumed.
>>
>>155922328
>it beggared belief that such a man had emerged in this world anything than fully formed. Lunar Emissary

Remember when Abbadon used to say that Incubus had no origin and just popped out of a sewer back in the day
>>
>>155922756
Yeah. Their world wasn't isolated so its theoretically possible he's part of some foreign not-Valyrian race that dumped babycubus off their ship or knocked up a local, but he's probably just got plain old albinism.
>>
>>155922580
Maya kinda sucks inmensely. Killed her master and lied to Allison about it, repeatedly underestimates Incubus and refuses to see his obvious merits as a students. Stubborn, close minded and hypocritical and unlike Allison she's a peasant, she doesnt even have the royalty mindset to make up for it.
>>
>>155923047
She's an actual fraud, in the non-meme sense.
>>
>>155922328
Incubus stocks SKYROCKETING with that fifth panel.

I like how his blood arms are remarkably similar to those of a Thorn Knight, like our grill Juggernaut Star
>>155923441
and yet Maya insists he is a poor swordsman. She's probably my fav character in the comic but either she's right and we haven't seen the truth yet or she has been high on copium for far too long to see reality
>>
>>155923513
Meti's manual does say that she hopes the student is encouraged to become a farmer. Incubus was a keen student of the most literal aspects of sword law, but openly disdains the philosophical part. He's an extreme pragmatist so he resonates more with the kill or be killed part of her teachings.

>>
>>155923618
He was right, since the only worthwhile part of Meti's teachings was the practical skills. Otherwise she was just another dumb hypocrite who made a big show of crying about the privilege afforded to her by her own abilities.
>>
Seems Maya calling Inky a poor swordsman was nothing more than the kvetching of a common scrub about how the person who keeps beating their ass isn't ACTUALLY good their game.
>>
>>155923618
>He's an extreme pragmatist so he resonates more with the kill or be killed part of her teachings.
Reading this sentence makes me rethink the flashback where Incubus allegedly killed Maya's family. He'd have no guilt there because under Meti's philosophy if she didn't want them to die, she should have stopped him from killing. That specific tenet seems to be one of the few that they both practice.
>>
>>155923618
>openly disdains the philosophical part. He's an extreme pragmatist so he resonates more with the kill or be killed part of her teachings
ok, I see it now. He's all in for the power granted by Meti's teachings but for the part concerning morality. kinda of reminds me of Ki Rata, actually
>>

Incubus, Salami Dave, Gog,

Why are the best characters in this series the Demiurges?
>>

>After running for three years and three days, Prim finally came to a tumbling halt. No matter how far she ran, no matter how fast her legs carried her, she could not find the end of the road. No matter how she scanned the horizon, or reached out with trembling fingers, she could not grasp her resting place. The road continued forever.

>There was a way-angel there, standing on a pillar of basalt, who understood many things, and he said to Prim: ‘O piteous thing.” Struck by her dreadful appearance, he recognized her as the orphan of Hansa, for he was very wise in the world. ‘What seek you on the road, small one?’ said the angel, “Perhaps I can offer succor.”

>“The end of the road,” croaked Prim.

>“There is no end,” said the angel, and it was so indeed. For the road was the rim of the Wheel, which encircled infinity. There was, truly no resting place. For some, this would have been dread news, enough to strike the life out of them. Many had given up when they learned of this, and laid down to die, as was sometimes the way of men in those days.

>But for Prim, it washed over her, and soothed her, and for her weary and torn heart was the sweetest balm in the world.”

-Prim Masters the Road

>>155922960
Yeah. I used to think he was being less literal about it, that Incubus was some kind of mind-demiurge made manifest and therefore just kinda showed up, to explain his temptation-in-dreams MO. But alas.
>>
>>155925122
He was watching big sis Maya having a mental breakdown; he's even looking in her direction instead of Meti's. Of course he isn't amused.

Of course not, any King/Queen who puts another above themselves is just a Servant with an ego
>>
>>155922756
Maya and Inky both grew up in the yellow city which orbited Throne (it fell into the void during the war because of how intense and fucked the fighting was), since Throne was populated by many worlds after it was opened to the common people the residents of the city could be any race from many different worlds.

People need to stop claiming 'royalty' is a concept with merit, its literally just another false notion fools in this series bind themselves to.

On a metaphorical level Incubus became a farmer while, barring a brief period, Maya did not. The problem with Meti's philosophical teachings is that they more or less loop back around to the practical teachings in a way that invalidates the philosophy.

He cared about Maya as a sister and didnt give a shit about Meti. If anything, we won the rat test *again* when he killed her family. His peasant flaw was being irresolute, wavering when he attempted to execute Maya because he was torn and secretly wanted her to come back to him. Hence his embarassing failure to behead her with 10 blows.
>>
>>155925634
Ada does not do consistent skin colors anyways and none of the characters are part of their IRL cultures. Everyone is white, even the demons.
>>
how come Incubus is only marginally stronger than Maya even though he has a fucking key?

was he just completely inferior to her without the key?
>>
>>155925122
He's looking at Maya the whole time. Her running away like a bitch is what bothered him, when he talks about the death itself later he's smiling about it. I don't think he actively wanted her dead or anything, but probably the only time he would even think of protecting Meti is when he still needed her to train him.
>>
>>155925690
Keys are just paths not answers
>>
>>155925690
In KSBD being really good with a sword is more important than literal divine powers. Remember, royalty is a continuous cutting motion.
>>
>>155922328
The best and most unusual ending here would be Maya actually accepting the offer. She's his only family and the only person that even matters to him and he keeps reaching out no matter how many times she rejects him. There's no ending their situation with violence anyway, which they both know. They're just play fighting.
>>
>>155925690
He was apparently the #2 of their little operation, so she probably was his superior. She developed her most potent technique after she lost her key. Not to mention the fact that he's demolishing her right now.

Keys aren't some ultimate power. Almost every demiurge became a demiurge by killing the previous key-wielder.
>>
>>155925569
Royalty means less than nothing. The only reason anyone wants it is as some dumb title of authority. Hansa was Royal, but he was never happy. He was a miserable, cantankerous, old asshole who spent every moment spreading that misery to others. YISUN was Royal, but was also never happy, given the whole "suicide out of depression" thing.
>>
This comic seriously reminds me of the Keys To The Kingdom book series.
>God is gone

"Race" is almost meaningless in KSBD. You can say "black, "white", "latino", whatever, but theres a gorrillion different worlds with humans and things close to humans on them. Our earths "races" are probably a tiny fraction of whats out there in KSBD. Probably alot of "humans" that evolved alot like us but have different organs and stuff.

This desu. Maya knows she faces her end, Incubus still copes for le survival even when everyone including him knows with absolute and immutable certainty that Jag will kill everyone and them him. Which makes his effort of immediate survivor meaningless, and simultaneously cements his own self-appointed place in the Cycle as constant permanent beta-bitch getting dominated. No other demiurge recognized him as a lord, and he answered them by... proceeding to perpetually bend the knee to whoever happened to intimidate him today.

> Salami was actually kind of a cool bro keeping out even worse things
Salami had his moments and I enjoy his vibes, but the matter of fact is he stagnated 1/6 of the multiverse into total cardboard box infertility incapable of producing anything or anyone of real value under his coddling rule, all in order to maintain muh order that folded instantly to Jag just showing up.

The single useful thing to come out of Celestial Empire is Dave himself, and it's a whole plot point that the Empire only held him back. That's what broke him the most - "for muh greater good" was his entire justification, and was undeniably a compete total fucking waste and he knows it. It's a cold, hard fact that he would be better off spending those millenia just practicing ki-rata. Monks of the Silent Voice were completely right, he was completely wrong, and all the sacrifices along the way only projected his own suffering onto countless other to no gain whatsoever.

>>155932382
>Eons of safety and stability for countless people is worthless
Eons in a barn are worthless for cattle being led to a slaughter, yes.

And this argument is inherently flawed because if coddling a litter of chosen in a safe place for a while is the measure of rulership, then Dave gets squarely beaten by Mammon. It's the wrong avenue to take for him, because he very deliberately designed the Celestial Empire to not be the Vault of Yre. It was supposed to be a true community - united, eternal, strong in the face of adversity through the power of it's numbers, institutions, discipline and organization, even without Dave. It was meant to be able to protect itself, unlike Dave's lost family, but it never learned to because just like a traumatized father, Dave has never allowed to to walk a step beyond his sight and build it's own strength. When the first real adversity came, the Empire failed utterly, specifically because Dave built something as infertile and egotistical as Yre - a sad monument to his sadness and vanity - but LARPed like it's something more than that.

>conscripted into the omegadeath genocide army
>world bled dry by tributes
Solomon did that too. Rayuba's twin new suns did not come from a multiversal Amazon. It's just where Mottom or Incubus did it chaotically, he was trying to organize his Application of Particularly Sharp Rocks towards building something, but something turned out to be nothing more than a house of cards.

>He's just not willing to leave it without a suitable successor.
...while also being the specific reason why there could be no suitable successor until it was too late.

Continuous cutting motion or not, Royalty has never been associated with doubtless determination - that is the domain of Jagganoth's obsession, Jadis' non-will, Mottom's trauma, Gog's detachment, Mammon's holy count, and Incubus' survival.

If all it took was just being a monomaniacal retard about something, all of our demiurges would've already solved the Wheel long ago. It's the definitive fetter of mind binding it to endless repetition on the Wheel. A Lord is not paralyzed with doubt, but he most certainly evaluates, changes his mind, regrets things, expresses will through decisions and finds strength beyond strength through rising beyond the self, rather that being a slave to the thirst for existence (or nonexistence).

Wasn't Zoss already Royal before he got the key?
>>

He's a fool. It ends when you decide to end it. He's a bad swordsman not because he loves his weapons, or takes too many blows to loo off a head. It's because he's not willing to kill Maya and free himself from this charade. Notice how he keeps asking her to come back to him and to the sword. He can't give up their cycle and history. His attempts to kill her are weak, because he knows that her existence gives him meaning.

Maya is also a fool. She tries to break the cycle by perpetuating it. You can't stop it by getting into sword fights and hoping to be the better swordsman. If she took her sword, said that it all ends with her, and took her own life, she would strip Incubus of his purpose, and be free of their little cycle of revenge and the blade.

Meti only ever intended to train one student. The other was never anything more than a warning, and a lesson, to her true disciple.

Meti's final lesson will only be completed when Incubus decides to kill the rat, and in the process forsake all mortal ties to this world to attain Royalty.
>>
>>155934993
Man, the advent of Maya murdering Meti instead really calls in to question the point of a lot of what Meti spoke. All seemed obvious before, but not now. And Meti 100% knew Maya would kill her in rage.
>>
>>155934231
Royalty is not beyond skepticism or self examination. However, acting indecisively or half assedly has been derided by both Meti and Zoss. Solomon's pretend play succession contest, Mottom's fear and victimization, Mammon's self pity, Gog's "I used to be the greatest and taking things seriously is below me" escapism routine and Incubus and Maya's inability to let go of each other are testaments to this unroyal flaw.

I come back to these two pages, and I feel like Zoss is speaking to Incubus just as much as he is to Alison. "Little men who play at sticks and think themselves the lord of the world" describes who Maya used to be far more than it does Incubus, and "Relinquish your foolish delusions of control. You cling too much to victory. You cannot save her." applies EXTREMELY well to his whole thing with Maya.

In fact, it almost feels like he isn't making a distinction between Incubus and Alison at all. Like he's treating them as two heads of the same entity.

...or, perhaps, like a swordsman and her sword.

The Maybe Sword might not be the prophesized Terrible Blade of Want. It might instead be Incubus, a man who is very much like a naked blade in search of a hand to wield him.
>>
>>155935444
Who gives a shit about Meti? She doesn't even merit the respect Zoss received for his unmatched achievements of being big dick god king of the entire universe who invaded heaven.

Her 'philosophy' outside of the one line about sharp rocks is nonsense, its just her being egotistic while playing at being a hobo.
A shitty version of Diogenes since he didn't have ridiculous superpowers in his back pocket.

>forsake all mortal ties to this world
That would just make a Jag and Jag is already a better Jag than Incubus could ever be. Back when Incubus was licking dirt from under Meti's, popping his first Maya boners and coming up with kenshi nicknames, Yaun was already a dead man.
>>
>>155935569
It's been pretty obvious since Incubus first showed up in flashback. He's the actual indigent, filthy and starving, while Meti waxes poetic about how swords suck in between getting all her wants and needs handed to her because everyone is afraid she'll kill them.
>>
>>155935569
>Who gives a shit about Meti
Incubus, evidently, as he took her for a teacher.

>big dick god king of the entire universe who invaded heaven
Zoos is pretty adamant that the whole God King stuff was a mistake.

>She doesn't even merit the respect Zoss received for his unmatched achievements
>ridiculous superpowers
So Zoss is the real shit because he could shit lightning and thunder, but Meti is a bitch fake because she could shit lightning and thunder.

Everyone treats Meti as supreme authority on Royalty specifically because she went down the same path as Zoss, and on the way made tangibly wiser choices.
>>
>>155935671
There are major differences between Meti's and Zoss' philosophy, and Zoss straight up realized he fucked up and has been trying to do things differently.

No, Jag has many, many ties to the mortal world. His entire purpose for destroying it is to save it, after all. And, most importantly, Jagganoth is a man and not a sword.

A sword, on the other hand, has no need to philosophize. It has no greater purpose, no master plan. It simply cuts anything that touches its edge.

>>155935569
Go reread the 18 Precepts, but understand that they are directed at Incubus and not Maya. And then they will all make sense. For example:

>Your stance must be wide. You must not be spare with the fluidity of your wrists or shoulders. You must have grip on the handle that is loose and unstrained. I heard it said you must be tender with your sword grip, as though with a lover. This is patently false. A sword is not your lover. It is a hideous tool for separating men from their vital fluids.
Incubus has named his favourite blade after Maya, his lover.

>When decapitating an enemy, it is severe impoliteness to use more than one blow.
Incubus has shown great disrespect to Maya.

>The weak swordsman clings to victory. He thinks of his life, his obligations, the outcome of the battle, his hatred for his opponent, his training, his pride in his mastery. By doing so, he is an imperfect vessel for the terrible fires of Will. He will surely crack. He will not laugh uproariously if he is cleft in two by his opponent’s blade. When his sword is shattered, his hands will be too reserved to tear his enemies’ flesh.
Incubus is constantly distracted in this fight by the potential for true victory - having Maya at his side once again.

>The weak swordsman strikes his enemy down and thinks his task done. He relishes in victory. He casts away his sword and returns to his lover. Little does he know his single cut will encircle the world five times and strike him down fifty-fold.
Again, Incubus thinks victory in this battle is returning to his lover, Maya the God-Queen.

All this is not random philosophy. It's specifically for Incubus.

I disagree. I think she always suspected Incubus as the true, better student would kill her. Meti's final laugh was both mocking Maya and herself as Maya killing her is like the D student inadvertently surpassing the A+ student at the most critical moment.
>>

Not only she was a woman during his during of age she was the only woman who ever gave a fuck about him, even if said fuck was just out of pity.

Meti probably didn't respect him as a sword god until he was already old enough to be a demiurge fearing own mortality.

Legit speaking why did Maya even hate the dude so much he didn't ever stop to think what he though of her.
Or maybe she did and both narrators are lowkey pretending this isn't a millenia long lovers spat.

>>

I'm speaking during their training.

The narrative has given no single point where Maya gave a fuck about Inc, while Inc was "killing" millions to her name every day. Yet she let him become his second right up to the point she broke and left.

I can only assume she genuinely hated the guy, or both are so hurt they are really pretending they weren't lovers. Inc with the "she was my sister" crap and Maya with the "evil boy born evil"
>>
>>155937166
Something interesting is that while Incubus calls Maya "sister," Maya typical uses indirect terms or euphemisms for Incubus even to his face. That's a pretty heavy level of intentional detachment.
>>

>>
>>155937288
Yeah but did she give a fuck out of humanistic sense of responsibility (that she later forgot about and likely just ignored incubus as "that thing that keeps orbiting her") or did she actually care for him as a person?

If we are to believe her own claims at face value she never even realize how much Inc cared for her.

It's the same path he walked, just with more trauma and less ambition. Zoss would definitely help him if he didn't consider him a lost case, and right now, he turned out to be the least lost of all demis.

This is what I keep coming back to, Maya chose the Sword Life because of ego and a desire to have power over others. Incubus was already a step below barrel dwelling hobo relying on handouts so becoming Poisoned By The Sword honestly wouldn't be as big a deal as becoming Poisoned By The Vermin You Must Subsist On. Maya had alternatives, which is why Meti keeps calling her Noodle Seller even when she has a key. Incubus has never wanted to anything more than survive, whether that means hiding, fleeing or learning how to murder absolutely anything so that he won't be fucked with. I wonder if Jagganoth here >>155935579 wasn't even being mean when he said "This throne was never yours" - deep down, Incubus doesn't want to be a king, he wants to be a murderhobo wandering around having fun with his murderbuddies.

>>
>>155937385
I'm inclined to think of Meti's comments as almost another version of the rat test - if you want the rat to live, you should take steps to ensure it survives. Perhaps by selling it noodles, for instance. Maya's attempt to feed lil Incubus comes across more as a spiteful dig at Meti rather than a real attempt at empathy, to me.
>>
>>155939694
One could wonder if Maya, upon finding out that Incubus was coming, killed them herself to spare them his wrath. They would then be dead because of Incubus, in a roundabout sort of way. I think its more likely that Incubus killed them because he expected Maya to pull out the old murder magic skills to defend them, defending the rats and all that, and was surprised when she didn't. He doesn't look at all happy in the house burning scene.

So Jags broke the script by assaulting Rayuba and trying to Allyson's key

In the usual cycle, the heir ascends to the throne of heaven by usurping the demis, the [THING] happens and he dies/disappears, and Jags comes back to slowly end the world until Zoss gets pissed off and leaves.

You see everything around you sliced in a line, but you don't feel pain. You look down, but before you do your subconscious already determined that you just got fucked, and indeed you see that you are now two disconnected halves slowly sliding apart like in a samurai parody flick.
Or, in Alllisons case, you get hit with the Maybe sword. The only thing going through your subconsciousness is "lol. lmao". You feel fine. You are fine. Literally too stupid to understand you just got hit with a superweapon, which ironically makes it harmless.

As for Jag, it's a tossup between him honestly feeling that he is invincible, or having a buried doubt that there's something out there that could kill him.

well Maya's sword is literally a shitty spare blade forged by an apprentice swordsmith as practice, in fact it's so badly made it shattered when Maya used it for the first time
>it's all about perception/will of wether something gets cut or not
maybe, maybe not. Perhaps anything with an edge no matter how sharp or dull is a potential Maybe Sword
>>
>>155950425
normal swords dont always kill their target

I don't think there hasn't been a cycle where Gog hasn't joined forces with the heir and the demis to seal jags, like in Rayuba

Her entire arc is "I escaped causality to try everything zoss style, and none of it worked. So fuck you, I got mine". She's basically Angela from Lobotomy Corp down to cosplaying 50 different costumes.

She probably walked out in Rayuba because she was certain it wouldn't work.

So whatever Gog can pull off doesn't stand a chance against jag or the fully realized heir, either in full power or just mass of flesh forms

>>
>>155952106
At least as far as Maya is concerned, you also have to survive her actual swordsman skills that literally turns thin air into a monomocular razor that cuts everything in a hundred mile cone.

So if even if you can beetle your way out of the maybe sword's effect, you still need to tank an instakill attack.
>>
>>155951130
>It seems stupid that this lameass thing would be able to kill him when nothing else could.
Sword fighting mantles the act of cutting, which is the closest action to mantling YISUN, who endlessly divided himself to become creation. Sword fighting *literally* brings you closer to god.

The maybe sword isn't a real sword slash, it's forcing the receiver into zero-sum argument where failing literally CHIMs you in half and no force inside the wheel can stop it since the wheel is just a subset of god.

It's abby going back to his Elder Scrolls fanfiction days.

>Im pretty sure he had an incredible will.
Mana quite evidently hated his life and everyone in it. He was violently molded against his will into a great violent molder of things used on people against their will.
>>
>>155956075
hating your life isn't a requisite to not being... uuuh cosmologically sentient.

he could hate his life and still NPC through it, but all the panels we saw of him were of him being quite content with his lot. He was just an ugly bastard with a job, who from one single line we were hinted that he thinks demiurges and sword saints were a bunch of somewhat admirable dicks
>>
>>155956188
Nah, he was poisoned and surrendered to violence as inevitability of existence, hence he inevitably gets Cut.
>>
>>155956221
>surrendered to violence as inevitability of existence
Someone didn't understand Zoss
>>
>>155941806
>It sliced up the blacksmith dude, and Im pretty sure he had an incredible will.
The amount of will Mana had doesn't matter since he didn't pass the vibe check. Like Intra letting the Blue City fall or Au Vam dying with the Yellow City, no matter how powerful you are you will fail the moment someone else catches you by surprise.
>>
>>155955478
So then it's just a super cutting technique and the whole "It kills you unless you refuse to die" is just bullshit.
>>
>>155957776
no, it's both things at once. one kills the mooks, the other the final boos.
>>
>>155959244
I mean in specifically maya's case she can do both things at once.

Allison probably can only do the maybe sword.
>>
One of these days, I'll start reading this comic.

really wonder who killed intra, he lived during the universal war

Inky just can't catch a break, can he?
>>
I just reread the whole comic and noticed Abby's Pandemic Derangement Syndrome for the first time.
>>
>>155940835
>deep down, Incubus doesn't want to be a king, he wants to be a murderhobo wandering around having fun with his murderbuddies
Jagganoth knows that most of all Incubus wants to not die. He knows that Incubus is a star lord, storm king, crowned with a key of power culled from ten thousand and one warrior. And a miserable worm who flees his rightly appointed death. Even now, he squirms on that pile of divine corpseflesh he calls his flagship, which will soon become a heap of rubble to be picked over by the crows, and indulges in dreams of reunion with his former lover, as he sends twenty thousand thousand men to their deaths, indulging in blood alchemy to extend his life and supping on blood of virgins. One hundred worldd scoured, picked clean and split for dogs. One million mothers hanged, their faces forgotten.

Did he forget that Jagganoth's words marked the length of his lifespan? Does he think his death will not find him at the appointed time?

That throne was not and never be his because Maya has already killed that man, he merely returned wearing the face of a friend who betrayed her.
>>
>>155963723
Funny there's a blurb that speaks of a "fourth conquest"

And didn'y abbs say at one point that Incubus was gonna be the last guy standing after Ally dies, and he will rule for some time before Maya appears out of nowhere and kils him
>>
>>155963926

There's a page in the tourney arc right before WC and Salami start fighting where WC goes on a page long rant about her and Salami being the same, people who "enforce the system" which smashes all those who stand out or try to make something of themselves

When it makes no fucking sense when you remember Salami is literally "MIGHT MAKES RIGHT (MAKES LAW): the immortal art of coping" and his "system" literally is whatever he wants it to be, and not some hell bureaucracy enforced through institutional pressure.

Then I check the alt text and its literally a "joke" about ACAB the page date says "august 2020".

I think I can elaborate more and it should also explain why this comic used to have had an overproportionately large hatefandom but I'd to have talk about a bunch of shit like the KSBD official Discord raiding this thread non stop, lowkey peer pressuring Abbadon, which may have resulted in White Chain becoming human-looking for basically no reason and with no storylet reference / forewarning or the comic even bothering explaining how, and to compensate for that nonsense you end up having Nukoku do the same "parallel" except she doesn't even become half-human and does nothing but exist, which feels like Abby just did that half assed the "unique transformation" parallel to justify humaning WC. But I gotta sleep. also nukou's eye makes me think of Himself
>>
>>155946636
>>155938854
The association between long penetrative objects wielded by men is much older than Freud and I don't think really needs a lot of explaining. Weapon appears as a synonym for penis in Middle English.
>>
>>155963928
Yeah it is kinda funny that Incubus maintains his immortality in the way we know Jag personally despises.

Anon, I...
>>
>>155964009
I don't think it's a PDS, I think that Abby was doing the WC/SD conflict, and therefore he had to examine their parallels, and the best he got is their roles as representatives of authority, which prompted the "authoritarianism is... le bad! Fuck da police".

WC transformation is a consequence of WC becoming the troon representation in the cast, so some form of transition was necessary as a conclusion. Her becoming a troon rep is by itself a (poor) consequence of her preceding identity crisis, which in turn is a consequence of Esoteric Straight Cop WC being a very boring character.

Nukoku is a consequence of Cio's death being pointless, which follows from Cio's existence being pointless. There's no elegant solution to that character.

The whole gay liberty thing was pretty lame, they immediately were shown to be incapable of actually standing up for themselves in this war and have all getting bitched out hard.

Elite ball knowledge. That was a good book series.
>>
>>155926776
>jagganoth wins but allison just recreates the universe
...fuck that fits too well.
>>
>>155964416
It was a very bad contrast between the immediate character study (WC/SD) and the overall plot (Rayuba invasion).

WC's theme of contemporary gay liberty values is generally a very poor fit for everything else in the story - the plot, the the setting, the aesthetic, the cast, etc.

Catchpoles are vaguely yonic, go around your head and are used to force you to enter a confined chamber, after which you might get executed. That's basically unbirthing.

Allison is the worst part of the story, yes-

He obviously wasn't trying to kill her, retards. Is literacy dead or something?
>>
>>155965753
Its still pretty retarded when someone trying to "not kill someone" still slashes them in the throat 11 times. The whole thing is stupid in terms of writing and trying too hard to be epic (in the literal sense).
>>
>>155965781
We don't even know what actually happened beyond what Maya has told us, and she's known for coping and lying.
>>
>>155965812
>Incubus slashed her once at most before deciding he wasn't really into it/left her for dead

>>

He knew she could tank it. And everything worked out: Maya picked up the sword again and even developed a new technique. Now he just has to finally convince her to rejoin him in murderhoboing together forever.
