It's not like the show is actively trying to pretend that she's in the right, it knows that she's wrong but she's the type of woman who would rather double down and make things worse than actually admit she doesn't know what she's doing. Everyone knows someone like this. The person whose painfully mediocre at everything they do yet has such a massive ego that they think they're some genius. Peggy is essentially the Karen we all hate but we get to see her actions often backfire on her. Even when she's right like the Randy Travis episode no one believes her because it sounds like she's just talking out of her ass again and she ends up making the situation worse and worse through her own actions. Nearly drowning Randy Travis over a fucking song.
