I don't mind the romance stuff with Superman and WW so removing that in the film version I think mostly just made her whole sacrifice with the lasso breaking a bit less impactful. I can't remember if the movie keeps the stuff after President Lex's big speech where there's a timeskip and they basically reveal that Superman was actually a human from the far future who had superpowers, gets sent back in time, lands in Ukraine. Making the story a time loop just didn't add anything and seemed kind of dumb.Overall though I like that it isn't just 'Superman but evil'. Instead it's real message is that by trying to impose utopian egalitarian ideals in a top down manner will inevitably lead to horrible outcomes for some, even with the most benevolent or kind-hearted dictator.
