So we got G1 throwbacks in one story but they look like Bayformers in the next, or Sentinel Prime comes back as a headmaster who can control titans, or introduce the Enigma of Combinations and a new OC combiner team (all female of course) because that's the current hot toyline or movie or whatever.Then they put british fanfic writers at the helm, one of them creating gay fanfics and undoing every character development the cast had up to that point, the other doing political satire so hamfisted and dumb, it would make Monty Python embarrassed.
I mean, consider that they had to transform shit like picrel to make sense in the books, so there's a reason everything becomes garbage and nonsensical.Then they used the comic to make all their other toylines relevant, so you had a Transformers comic and it had ROM the Space Knight, Action Man, GI Joe, and M.A.S.K. and maybe two transformers in the background.

Don't take things so personally, and enjoy seeing characters in a way you wouldn't before. It didn't change their past depictions. They connected everything well, but you didn't need to read any of the stuff not involving the Transformers if you didn't want to. Gathering, Ascending, and BW21 were fine. It was nice getting to have focus on toy-only characters for the first two, and the third did some neat things.
