Was the extreme anger and outrage justified?
>>155982578It was justified

>>155982578Look at it carefully before you ask retarded questions
>>155982578Yes
>>155982578No.
No, which made the reactions funny
just a bit
>>155982578honestly? yeah that shit is heinous and looks like something you only get by holding a gun to your animator's head and demanding something trendy.
>>155982578Im surprised Victor is still geting employeed at Warner after the failure that was this and Aquaman as well them canning Driftwood.Likely he gave some blowjobs to Sam Register before he left.
>>155982578It looks like shit, but it's not worth getting upset over. Nobody really cares about Thundercats. It was always just a shitty He Man knockoff, but it had a sick as fuck intro.
>>155982578the extreme anger and outrage was hilarious and so was the extreme upset response to the extreme anger and outrage. My favorite part was when Nico Colaleo defended the Thundercats Roar and people assumed he was the one working on it
>>155982578It looks like total shit but sperging and raging over a cartoon is never justified

>>155982709Kek
>>155982578I mean, look at it.
>>15598257890% sure the hate for it lasted longer than it.
>>155982578It was probably the culmination of bean mouthery, nowadays there is no cartoons on any broadcast network airing at all to discuss, good or bad
>>155983163How about ... oh well there's ... hmm
>>155983163>>155983240
>>155982578It was justified especially when viewed in regards to the greater issue with mass media repackaging old IPs, completely rewiriting for a modern audience, and then acting shocked why the old fans hate it. They remake old shows because they want the old audience back but at the same time don't respect the old audience and want to chase a new one with literally no effort. If the reaction to Thundercats roar was unjustified than so was the reaction to literally every other half assed remake of an older IP.
>>155982578It didn't go far enough, producers should feel scared to even think of rebooting shows like this
Yes, fucking obviously
>>155982578fuck yes and fuck you
>>155982578they said they'd blacklist anyone who criticized the show. Now there's no industry to blacklist anyone from, so good going
>>155982578All that and more.

>>155982578They killed their industry making shows like this, pretty sure the topic is settled like the dust of a crater>>155982696You can choose to goon about spiting people who aren’t exactly the same as you or you can have a healthy art career

>>155982578No. If a show looks bad don't watch it. If it makes you feel bad that strongly it won.

His grandparents later gave him up to a foster home when he was 10. Eventually, he moved out, putting himself through high school and marrying at 19.[2]Wolf enlisted to fight in World War II and lost part of his leg in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he studied mechanical engineering and worked at Westinghouse, patenting several inventions.[3] Wolf later became primarily involved in the development of toys and board games. He developed a version of the portable record player.[4]In 1981, Wolf sketched a group of superpowered animals which combined superhuman and superanimal powers. After pitching the idea to several studios, Telepictures agreed to develop the series in 1984, and it became ThunderCats.

>>155988768yeah
Yes. I wasn't, and still am not, a "the west has fallen" guy who calls everything calarts style. But it was the first Thundercats after a previously well liked series died on a cliffhanger, never to be finished, the style was ugly, the humor was dumb. It was a worst successor than Teen Titans Go, and I hate how people got soft on Go.
>>155986625It was a different time
>>155983404>modern audienceNever existed.
>>155982578A little. The artstyle was kinda obnoxious, but the show unironically had good animation. But people are shallow and don't actually care about animation quality, they only care about aesthetics and vibes.
>>155982578Most of it was done by Nico. Otherwise the whole outrage would have been over in a weekend.
>>155989719Retard lmao
>>155989729You're a bot who can't string more than a couple of boards together and has been shitting up the board with low-effort replies to everything. Your opinion doesn't matter.

Which one was more popular among children in 2020
>>155989778Epstein
All they had to do was NOT make it CalArts beanmouth design and NOT rely on shitty millenial humor. If you want to do a comedy version of Thundercats, that is fine, but they went in the worst possible direction with it. It suffered ALL the same issues of every cartoon of that era but this time they used a classic IP to incorporate their shit ideas into. People had every right to react the way they did towards it. Either make a Thundercats show that's in the style and tone of the original 1980's opening theme OR do a comedy reboot that's actually funny and still honors the source material while still looking cool and being entertaining. The people involved in the making of the show including it's faggot manbun showrunner didn't do any of that. Instead you got cringeslop that's a product of it's era that most people look back on and make fun of.
>>155989719looks awesome actually
>>155989719A beautifully animated poop is still not worth watching.
>>155989719The quality of the animation doesn't matter (even if it is in fact good) when the animation is attached to garbage looking characters in a painfully unwatchable show. Literally no one gives a flying fuck about characters being animated well with tons of movement and wacky expressions when the show does NOTHING to justify why it has good animation. That's not people being shallow. Animation quality simply isn't the most important aspect of a cartoon. The OG Thundercats had crappy animation outside of the OP but it didn't stop the show from being a massive success and capturing the imagination of an entire generation of kids and airing on television for a decade straight.
>>155990595No it doesn't lol
>>155989762Boohoo nigga lmao
>>155990695>That's not people being shallow. Animation quality simply isn't the most important aspect of a cartoon. This is the only time /co/ will ever say this. >>155982578i sometimes forget that this show was even real because it was constantly used as a benchmark for how bad things really were becoming.

>>155990695>Literally no one gives a flying fuck about characters being animated well with tons of movement and wacky expressions when the show does NOTHING to justify why it has good animation.counterpoint: 95% of anime
>>155990811>>155990830/co/ frequently shits on other calarts toons for having subpar animation first and foremost. There was a lot of stink about the Cuphead show not looking as good as the game and a lot of shilling of nu-Spongebob for having expressive wacky animation.
>>155990751Animation qaulity is important though. It's just not as important as the writing. It might be a visual medium but there's a reason why the overwhelming majority of creators don't soley rely on animation to interest people in a show and I can't think of one example where the animation is the main selling point while also extremely successful. That's doesn't really happen because people want an interesting plot and characters to carry the show and keep them intrigued.
>>155990853Obsessed lmao
>>155982578Idk man, this wasn't SPECTACULAR or anything but I found it amusing, even kinda funny at times I'll admit I'm not too attached to the ThunderCats IP to begin with, but this was hardly worth obsessing over the way the internet did. I doubt even half the haters watched one episode when it finally came out
>>155990869You're conflating wildly different things from the situation you described while simultaneously asserting that /co/ has a singular opinion on the merit of "good" animation vs other aspects of animated shows. Kindly fuck off retard.
>>155990895Dumb cattle lol
>>155990869>There was a lot of stink about the Cuphead show not looking as good as the game and a lot of shilling of nu-Spongebob for having expressive wacky animation.Because the Cuphead show felt like a larping of the style, the game is based on and the NuSpongeBob one is indeed shit.

>>155990884Rent free ayy..
>>15599085395% of anime doesn't have good animation. Never has just like most American animation. Anime actually does often have more interesting stories that western shows since western animation is either sitcom gag comedies or superheroes but the big problem with anime is they suck at characters and personalities. they lack the nuance of character writing unlike the best Western animation creators. The plots that anime often showcase are typically more unique and ambitious but you're usually being lead by some bland skinny teenager with messy hair and no personality. That's the problem. Their characters lack zest.Prime example. Look at Disney characters and compare them to the abysmal Ghibli characters. No one would even remember any of the names of those characters over at Ghibli if some of the names weren't in the title of the films
>>155990853>animeBruh anime is really badly animated most of the time, you're not making a counterpoint but agreeing with him
>>155990869>a lot of shilling of nu-Spongebob for having expressive wacky animation.I have only ever seen the modern spongebob over-the-top wacky animation shit on here for being a poor substitute for the solid writing and humor of the earlier seasons, so I think you're fucking stupid and should kill yourself.
>>155990988Idiot
>>155990988No one would remember Disney characters if Disney didn't whore them everywhere nonstop from the time we, every person reading this, could form thoughts.
Modern Japanese animation is not even as consistently good as classic Japanese animation. Just look at any reboot to confirm this fact
>>155990988>>155991003it's "good" by retarded weeb standards which is all that matters
>>155990916>You're conflating wildly different things from the situation you describedYou're gonna be crucified on /co/ for saying you prefer Invincible over the DCAU Justice League for being more consistent with its characters despite worse animation.
>>155991088>for saying you prefer Invincible over the DCAU Justice League for being more consistent with its characters despite worse animation. Why the fuck would I say something so retardedly false? Are you having a fucking stroke?
>>155991031Lying delusional retard>>155991057>No one would remember them if...Nigga literally the greatest pieces of animation came from Disney. You could watch any one of those classic films ONE time and still know Captain Hook, or Stitch, or Baloo or any other charasmatic iconic characters that everyone and their mom knows the name of. What a stupid ass response. As if the world would collectively forget about Donald Duck existed if Disney didn't promote Donald Duck all the time. He may lose popularity but that character is ingrained in the memory of every person on this planet since they were kids. You don't forget things like that and you being disingenious wont change that fact. You're just disagreeing for the sake of it and not because you're making a good point.
>>155991147The Justice League cartoon had Batman be an asshole for no reason other than to contrast him with Superman or the other guys half the time, and that's not how he would've acted in BTAS
>>155991190We've forgotten great works all of the time. Your grasp of history is as weak as your grasp of common sense.
Trudging my way through the 2011 series. Currently on episode 6. I'm almost afraid to see how much worse this gets.
>>155991197Batman isn't great in situations where he doesn't have complete control over. Of course he acts like an asshole because in BTAS he's solo or leading Robin. He doesn't have a commitee of people telling him what is the right and wrong decisions. When other people put him in positions where he feel he is right, he's going to act out. That's basic storytelling 101. They handled his character fine in Justice League. You just don't understand how dynamics work.
>>155991224Nice rebuttal, retard. Glad I stuck around for you to unironically say "wE fOrGeT sTuFf sOmEtImEs". Here's your last (You) before I move on.
>>155991197I disagree but also fail to see what the fuck that has to do with falsely praising Invincible for qualities it does not possess.Take your fucking meds.
>>155991247I'm still seething with anger that it started so strong and turned to shit so fucking quickly. What a waste of potential.
>>155990988Ghibli is kind of a bad example since it's far from how generic anime can get, but I agree with the general sentiment and this doesn't get talked about.Anime characters seem to rarely have entertaining banter. Obviously that's the cultural barrier speaking on my part, and subtitled translatons are imperfect to gauge this sort of thing either way, maybe Japanese are having a hoot at some anime dialogue but I'm looking at >>155991063 and can't shake the feeling that the dialogue is all kinda generic, like the characters are just going through the beats they're supposed to go through without much zest or desire to spice things up with something different here and there.
>>155991256>That's basic storytelling 101.No, it's complete headcanon on your part that's never properly explored in the show itself, and next you're gonna start going on about how I need everything spoonfed to me if I don't headcanon reasons for contrived writing.>>155991302I can praise it for being able to build a story arc for more than a couple of rushed episodes, but that feels almost unfair considering the time JL was airing at.
>>155991283Anon, this isn't one of those times where you can continue to argue with retarded rebuttals that make no sense in desperate hopes of winning an argument. As if that will make you correct. Disney is remembered because it's pushed nonstop constantly. There are many brilliant beautiful pieces of art that are forgotten by time and some mid crap that gets constantly whored because they have people backing it. Disney is the latter. It's animation greatness has been riding off the coat tails of movies older then your great great grandparents. And anything created recently that's really really good can't catch a break because disney owns the idea of cartoons through marketing and control of critics.
>>155991063Remove the nostalgia goggles. Top is cel animation. Bottom is digital animation. Both are great & are made with real talented artists who know their craft, compared to whatever shit Thundercats Roar is supposed to be. Japan went digital in making anime 2 decades ago with Dragonball Super being the first ever anime to be animated full-blown digitally. And even in the digital format, they mog alot of talentless fucks in the current western industry.
>>155989719Dogshit animation. You can't copy Naruto ninja moves without first learning perspective & anatomy first.
>>155991409Anon being retarded on purpose gets old after the first 5 or so posts.
>>155991425Nigga, dragonball super was shit on for years because of that fuckawful animation. It only gained anything resembling positive attention because it's more dragon ball. And everyone keenly remembers the video game animation in broly and...whatever was going on in dragon ball superheros.
>>155982578>Was the extreme anger and outrage justified? It deserved way more.
>>155982672>Posting a gif of a show even worse than it
>>155991425>Remove the nostalgia goggles. This objectively has nothing to do with my post and I question why you even typed it. >Top is cel animation. Bottom is digital animation. Also completely irrelevent to anything I said. I'm starting to think you're creating your own conversations with yourself. >Both are great & are made with real talented artists who know their craftAre you delusional? How many examples do I need to post for you to grasp the basic concept of old anime has consistently better animation than new ones? That's the point I was making and it's true. This has nothing to do with nostalgia, this has nothing to do with cel vs digital, and it doesn't matter if you think both are better than fucking Thundercats Roar. My sole point is NEW anime often lacks the animation quality of shows from 30 even 40 years ago and they've become lazy as shit. Not in general, just consistently.
>>155991583>super was shit on for years because of that fuckawful animation. It was shit on because the production was rushed and therefore suffered in quality overall. Not just animation but also the choice of going with Yamomura's awful design designs and horrible shading. People ultimately ended up liking the show though because despite moments of terrible animation, it still had great animation and some of the arcs were fun. By the time we got to tournement of power, the art and the animation was great. Funny thing though even at it's worst, it still had way better animation than the entirety of GT. I even rewatched it just to confirm and was shocked by how little they gave a shit about including big fight sequences in GT and the lack of effort they put into them.
>>155991832NTA but the old version has less personality by not including the tall guy falling clumsily.
>>155989677There no such thing as a CalArts style.
>>155989719Anime has unironically convinced an entire generation to eat dogshit as long as there's 2 minutes of sakuga, which is ironic because some of the most beloved anime of all have trash animation
>>155991889anon the old show literally added personality to the fucking manga because the people involved with the production understood it's visual medium and tried to give the series more flare while still maintaining the core aspects of the author's original intention. The old version ADDED personality.
>>155991956That does not address the comparison I made
>>155982578No. The art style looks great. I especially liked how they removed all the goonbait from the designs.
>>155991885You have to be trolling because GT is generally more consistent than Super, even by ToP. If anything, it's more correct to say Super had moments of great animation. Maybe five minutes worth overall. And I say that as someone who thinks GT is generally worse than Super.
>>155991987Your comparison is retarded and objectively gay. The gag of him falling wasn't even funny and added nothing to the seen other than a moment of cornball humor no one ever once laughed at.
>>155982578>extreme anger and outrageYou mean from the people that got mad that some people's reaction to reveal was "That looks retarded"?No.
>>155992021It adds characterization while your examples just add some pretty visuals to keep the viewer momentarily engaged. One tells you about the character, another is shallow eye candy.
>>155982578Take it as you want but the most rabid haters were latinos. Thundercats is huge in Latin America
>>155982713That wasn't even from the Roar staff though but the TTG people.
