We all can relate to sneakily watching South Park as kids, tons of shows in the 90s like Ren & Stimpy and Dexters Lab had adult jokes and risktaking content, and the theatrical Looney Tunes shorts we all grew up on were never originally made for kids in the first place, and none of aforementioned content has ever "corrupted" children’s minds or turned them into idiots, it instead turned them into fun people with a great sense of humor. In fact, I’d argue it’s better for kids development to let them watch stuff like this as a kid than letting them watch sappy Disney movies, Disney renaissance and revival shit is what turned millennial and zoomer girls into annoying bitches. The reason cartoons have this sanitized mentality in the first place is because of Disney cementing the idea of animation being for kids and bible thumpers, hippies, and parents groups pushing for censorship of /co/ media in the 60s and 70s, now this idea still lingers of companies and parents thinking kids can’t handle certain stuff.

If I ever have kids I’m letting them watch cartoons with cursing, gore, nudity, etc. to toughen them up and make them gain a sense of humor, fuck this "G, PG, PG-13, R" nonsense. It goes against our nature.
>>
>>155983222
At Comic Con I saw like an 8-10 year old cosplaying as Angel Dust. Shit like that is why you don’t let kids watch adult shows.
>>
>>155983253
Even if the subject matter is inappropriate, to play devil's (heh) advocate; it drove the kid to be creative enough to make a cosplay from scratch. I think that's a good thing!
>>
>>155983222
>South Park.
Never happened.

>Looney Tunes.
The Hays Code made sure they were kid safe as parents were bringing their kids to theaters.

>Ren and Stimpy.
Only geeks and nerds watched Ren and Stimpy, normies were watching Tiny Toons and Animaniacs, as well as old Looney Tunes reruns.

>Dexter's Lab.
Wasn't mainstream.

>Sappy Disney movies, Disney renaissance and revival shit is what turned millennial and zoomer girls into annoying bitches.
Never happened, they became that because their (grand)mother was a annoying bitch and they passed their genes to them.

>The reason cartoons have this sanitized mentality in the first place is because of.
That was Filmation, not Disney.

Ratings exist for a reason, otherwise CPS will have a field day and if you let them watch said inappropriate content CPS WILL take your kids away.

The way I view it, age ratings are a guideline, not a rule, if I had a kid I’d just let them stuff deemed appropriate for their age and wouldn’t be too mad if I caught them watching TV-MA shows, I’d fucking ground them if I caught them watching Elsagate or Cocomelon though.

Although, I don’t see much of a problem with letting teenagers watching MA and R rated stuff, I started playing M rated games when I was 13 and nobody cared.
>>
>>155983466
>genus
Lol
>>
>>155983524
Yes they are a rule, if you let your kid watch a R rated movie, a M rated game or a TV MA rated show Child Protective Services will take your kid away and you will never see you kid again.

Plus Elsagate and Cocomelon were only things in India and other 3rd world countries, they're not a thing in the first world.

>Although, I don’t see much of a problem with letting teenagers watching MA and R rated stuff, I started playing M rated games when I was 13 and nobody cared.
That was back in 1995 before Child Protective Services started cracking down on that.

Do that now and Child Protective Services will take your kid away.

That's got to be from iPad parents who are all like "well, it's a cartoon so little Timmy should be able to watch it" and then never follow up on it

My father was pissed at me for watching Powerpuff Girls, he probably would have strangled me for watching shit like Helluva Boss but these days, it seems like no one cares
>>
>>155983585
Nigga, I had classmates in fourth grade who’d watch Family Guy and South Park and play Call of Duty and GTA, if parents got arrested over their kids watching and playing mature stuff than like half the children in the US wouldn’t have parents anymore.
>>

>>
>>155983771
>That's got to be from iPad parents who are all like "well, it's a cartoon so little Timmy should be able to watch it"
Even though the idea that cartoons are only for kids is a relatively recent one, and Disney is probably at least partially to blame.
>>
>>155983222
>We all can relate to sneakily watching South Park as kids, tons of shows in the 90s like Ren & Stimpy and Dexters Lab had adult jokes and risktaking content

The older millennials here can because restrictions on children’s programming that were in place throughout the eighties changed in the 90’s

>the theatrical Looney Tunes shorts we all grew up on were never originally made for kids in the first place

True, they were intended for adults and occasionally children who would be viewing them with a guardian

>none of aforementioned content has ever "corrupted" children’s minds or turned them into idiots, it instead turned them into fun people with a great sense of humor

Wrong. Our generation, and the subsequent ones are being subjected to mkultra style programming and desensitization by a conglomerate of wealthy “elites” Pomni in your pic is actually an interesting example of this. She represents both a specific “jester-like” demon who is a frequent symbol of initiation amongst certain groups, and also a small child with “panda eyes” (I would prefer to not go into detail about this)

>Disney renaissance and revival shit is what turned millennial and zoomer girls into annoying bitches

You recognize how (their) programming effected women of your generation but not how it affected you?

>If I ever have kids I’m letting them watch cartoons with cursing, gore, nudity, etc. to toughen them up and make them gain a sense of humor, fuck this "G, PG, PG-13, R" nonsense. It goes against our nature.

If I ever have kids (I wouldn’t because this world is hell) I wouldn’t let them watch any of this. I would read classics to them as much as I could.

South Park caused widespread ginger bullying after the kick a ginger day episode aired since children are too idiotic to understand satire.
Early sex introduction is associated neuroticism and neuroses. Neuroticism also correlates with humor as defense mechanism.
Early gore introduction causes desensitization and a coping technique of watching gore as a form of self harm since empathy isn't desesitized.
Studies on Unregulated kids media like Cocomelon has shown toddlers becoming more restless and crave short term dopamine hits and english skills deteriorate.

Removal of age ratings usually fall in line with stricter content guidelines on all media. We might have more Looney Tunes like media but R rated media will have to be heavily censored.

It's sad you even have to ask that. No, ratings are never okay.
With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably.

Ratings are for pearl clutching parents who forgot their own childhoods. Not the children.
Children can deal with anything.
If something is too violent or too sexual for their age they'll hate it and watch something else.
The only real problem with kids watching adult content is they become more annoying in an attempt to appear edgy and cool.
>>
>>155987620
No it is not, CPS protects kids from monsters like pedos.
>>
>>155987750
100% fake as...

Ratings are for kids. Not the phone clutching parents.
Children can't deal with everything.
If something is too violent or too sexual for their age they'll read the warnings on the rating so they won't touch it.
The real problem with kids watching adult content is they become scared for the rest of their life.
>>
>>155987753
CPS sometimes takes kids away for things like "letting them walk to the gas station to buy a candy bar". And then they put them in foster care where there's a lot of real child abuse.
I'm not gonna say they're always bad, but it's not as simple as people think either.
>>
>>155983697
>It's a reminded

>>155987805

>>
>>155983222
not really. parents are just lazy and don't want to have difficult conversations with their kids and can't discipline them properly if they repeat or act out on adult things they see. it's probably even worse today where parents just give a kid a device with internet access without bothering to do any supervision and fuck off. I think ratings are helpful to determine the level of profanity and mature themes a show or movie has, but it's stupid to think that will prevent kids from seeing or hearing things beyond their age or emotional maturity. it should be a parent or guardians responsibility to guide their children with that stuff, because they're going to see it one way or another, you can't shelter them 24/7, so it's up to them to have a talk about fiction vs reality, and how to behave like a respectable human being while enjoying media that's crass, crude, and/or vulgar.

Companies are always gonna need TV ratings to cover their asses should any angry parents try and target their programs. Hell, The Amazing Digital Circus has been flagged as Kids' Content on several occasions.

But that's really as far as these ratings' power goes. They're suggested guidelines, but not hard rules enforced upon ALL.
