>>The film received critical acclaim for its visuals and cultural representation, with some calling it one of DreamWorks Animation's best films.>flopsWhy isn't it enough to make great movies? Why must the good be sent to die?
The whole movie industry is dying and every time you break someone's heart, they dont come back to give another movie ankther chance
The more trailers and promos came out, the more this looked like the most obnoxious film ever produced
>>155984034>critical acclaimThey burned that bridge too hard, people rightfully and justifiably do not trust word fuck one from critics, especially when it comes to POC characters. Them backing The Last Jedi and doubling down when audiences dropped off, making sure Ghostbusters 2016 had a Fresh rotten tomatoes, praising Terminator Dark Fate, and even making sure Ironheart had more positive reviews left anyone except those looking to confirm their preconceived biases without much in the way of online critique they could trust. Nowadays random fucks on youtube are pretty much the only ones who get listened to, regardless of if they deserve it or more often don't, just because critics saw a cheap and easy way to feel like they were doing something "Important" and pushing "Meaningful" stories at the cost of hyping up garbage rather than take a loss on the imaginary scoreboard of fucking up IPs and trying to find the success in the 10x flops that our entertainment has devolved into. We're pretty much down to more people than otherwise just plain not agreeing it was a good movie worth seeing, and shockingly enough we have a recent example to call back on. Godzilla Minus 1 had a teeny tiny release, and through pure word of mouth turned into a surprise success despite critics not even bothering with it during its first week of release, and now the sequel is tracking pretty damn well. The days of Roger and Ebert helping make hits is long gone, now critics are pretty much relegated to standup comedians with shitty personas.
Who the fuck is writing at Disney? Where's the fresh blood actually capable of putting out new ideas that people want to see?
>>155984199This is DreamWorks.
>>155984199Nigga this is a Dreamworks movie.
>>155984210>>155984213Wait it isn't? I could've sworn it was or maybe I was confusing it with something else
>>155984199>Who the fuck is writing at Disney?Women and gays
>>155984034>cultural representationProblem is no one actually wants this, even the tweeting women and de facto women who demand it
>>155984034I'm sorry your shilling didn't work anon
>Culturally representing an absolutely corrupt basedciety that salvages/kills any disenter by political dynastic clans, taking every cent of the high taxes, encourages monopolies through oligarch nepos that lead to incredibly shitty services and deaths while pagpag jologs nepo babies dictate squatter jolog minded entertainment like this flop of a jolog Kapampagpag movie.Yeah fuck you. I am glad this shittt pagpag jologs movie flopped. Filipino culture is absolute dog shit. Worship your shitty Vice ganda bakla like the jologs you are.
>>155984332I still got paid, my time wasn't wasted at all.
>>155984368Keep seething
>>155984034To be fair, there are decent movies being released nowadays that would surely be successful were they released back in 2020 and before. It's just that it's getting harder and harder to bring in an audience these days. It feels like the only types of movies to get some decent audience are either ones with a lot of starpower behind them, kid's movies that have some nostalgia attached to it, or movies from already-successful franchises, and even so, it's a bit of a gamble in some cases.
Kpop demon hunter won.
>>155984034So, the reason movies need cultural representation is so people of that culture feel represented and watch it, right?I am not a member of the culture being represented in this movie. I do not feel represented and thus did not watch it.
>>155984494Thank you. This nepo baby made movie represent the jolog/high society Jugalo culture that has the cultural relevancy of pagpag and Burger king paper crowns. If filipinos themselves are escaping to other countries and dont want to participate in their high society jugalo culture then you shouldnt too.
>>155984494filipinos didn't watch it either lol
>>155984555>Jugalo cultureWhoop whoop!
>>155984332>>155984397I refuse to believe anyone actually bothers shilling cartoons on 4chan, the cartoon-watching audience is basically non-existent here compared to a decade ago, and the few that still exist are like 90% pirates, underageb&, third worlders, or some combination of the 3.
>>155984632I will now watch your movie.
>>155984034There's kinda no audience for this movie. It feels like they cast a super large net trying to catch everyone's interests but the net was just too big so everyone just swam through the holes.
>>155984034It's not enough for the movie to simply be goodIf you fuck up the promotion of your movie to the point that people will think it's boring or bad, most people won't be motivated to watch it in the theater
>>155985551This, the advertising looked really obnoxious and while POC characters aren't an immediate nope for me, when people praise something for "representation" I assume it doesn't have much else going for it and I don't bother.
posting this from last thread for anyone who didn't get the chance to jerk off to it
>>155984199Shut out by leftoids who want to put out ideas that flatter their received beliefs.
>>155985721>This, the advertising looked really obnoxiousI dunno how to break it to you but unlike Transformers 1 where they actually changed certain lines from the movie to fit the trailer or cut up serious scenes into a comedy reaction like the Bee running away thing, this one actually didn't do that. Those obnoxious scenes are in the movie as presented. It has other stuff BESIDES that, which honestly weren't bad even if I think the movie overall is mostly too jittery and ultimately falls flat, but those scenes are there and they're pretty much delivered as presented. They didn't discourage the audience by showing a fake scene like Transformers 1, they just didn't show the much better emotional beats that also exist.
Just watch that actual Filipino movie about the catgirl cheating on her boyfriend because she's a greedy slut.
