Sonorie hates spoilers
>>
>she is still working with them
I feel like they are both too smart to trust the other one not to kill them as soon as possible. Even with Ruck's Senet autism.

Queen status: about to get btfo?
>>
Reminder that Ruck used to be like the gay poolboy to an even bigger efheby who he backstabbed and stole his name.
Also he had to get some great info from devouring Cutter, no? He has tons of knowledge about Duane and Sette now.

According to the tumblr she’s just trying to lure him in to kill him.

This is the first time I've heard of this. Was this stated in one of QnA tumblr posts?

ENOUGH FROM THE RAPESNAKE

Also someone correct me if I'm mistaken, Duane hasn't actually met Ruck, right? He would have only heard his name discussed in the mines back during the Foi-Hellick Rebellion. Though this page gives the impression his infamy is quite wide spread

Unsounded is one of the only comics I read, or media I consume at all really, that is able to blindside me with these kinds of things. I don't just mean surprises, I mean the specific thing it does here where it does not reveal when or where characters learned certain information. I'm pretty sure this is the first time Duane has mentioned Ruck, but of course it's not that strange he would know, being the academic he is and with his interest in Senet Beasts. I also don't believe we've seen Sonorie get the information that Ruck is after Duane specifically, but it is also not strange she would know having interacted with him so much.

But together, it leads to a surprising conversation that I don't think any, in these threads predicted: that she was using him as bait/to negotiate with Ruck or that Duane would immediately be able to know which "creature" she would be talking about. A very good swerve. The best kind, that re-contextualizes previous conversation in the light that characters knew certain things we didn't think they did.

It also, again, reminds the reader explicitly that despite how much of a bleeding heart everyone keeps accusing the Queen of being, that she is accused of being on this very page, she will do insano shit those same people think is beyond the pale.

Yeah I honestly stopped trying to predict what's going to happen in this comic because it just made me feel like an idiot for how wrong I'd always be, and decided this is one of the few people who actually knows how to write
>>
>>155989810
Lots of people know how to write, they just tend to be employed by corporations rather than putting all their shit out there for free because I guess Cope is that obsessed with her OCs.
>>
>>155989930
Well some things are worth more than money and not everyone can see that. Money has a way of being a side effect of doing what you love.

I had been waiting for Duane to connect the pieces, myself. He's known about Ruckmearka ever since that war story in chapter 14, then he saw the motherfucker for himself kidnap the Queen, so what other snake would it have been. From his point of view it must look like the Queen's hens finally came home to roost.

What I'm wondering now is if the reason Duane's been so receptive for this conversation is because he understands if she survived and the snake is playing ball, then Alderode is finally just as fucking doomed as the salt lizard promised it would be. So this is Duane's only chance to put a word in for his people. Part of him must be shitting bricks. This is like worst case outcome of the scenario that's been hauntng him since the salt lizard adventure. Alderode really is done for

i hate finding out about well written comics on /co/ that make me feel like a mong. i come here to see absolute slop that a toddler could improve like BCB

really?

Pretty sure Cope has hinted that Ruck, Salt lizard, a yet unseen whale and Sessine are common folk-lore in most of kasslyne.
And in this very thread we've discussed that they may have been not just worshipped millennia, but their worship eventually transformed into the Geffen faith.
Example: A non-descript crescean peasant recognize the silver beast as related to sessine, and recalls a folk parable that describes her senet personality to a T as soon as it shows up.

It's no surprise that Duane can put 1 and 1 together. The real question is what kind of Leverage could Ruckmearkha have on Sonorie at this point, after the murder attempt and collapse of his own plans.

The surprise is in the blindside outside of the context of the scene. Anon have spent weeks pondering the direction of this meeting. Whether the Queen would somehow be able to make Duane do her bidding. Whether she'd just throw him in a cell. What her plans for him were.

The surprise is not that this happened, but that we anons ourselves weren't able to think outside the box enough to make that supposition. It's about how the story can lead the audience and direct their attention and then slap them from the other direction with something they should've pondered themselves.

This isn't even the first time Cope has done this with the Queen and Ruck. Ruck is introduced mid mind rape of Roger, then it's revealed the Queen was behind this (before the additional reveal that Roger is a willing participant, at least after everything else that happened). Then we find out Ruck is fucking with Bell too, only for Toma to reveal he knows this AND the Queen is connected already. Then that the Queen was behind that too. Some of these are treated as dramatic revelations, but often there's more going on that the audience was not privy to seeing in person.

That's what I'm talking about. The way the comic is able to portray its characters doing things "off the page" in ways that aren't awkward in retrospect. You just didn't think about how they might've been thinking of that until it came up.

>He's known about Ruckmearka ever since that war story in chapter 14
Yeah, I'd forgotten that. I was wondering if Duane had encountered the name in a way we'd seen, and forgot that he was there for Salty Lizard's plotting. I'm not sure if directly saw him around the Queen, even if he didn't, he'd know of it from the flashback and probably looked into him himself since.

>A non-descript crescean peasant recognize the silver beast as related to sessine
Wait when was that?

Sonorie still needs whatever's left of Roger, and she's probably thinking she can force a trade by offering the tastiest morsel. Cutter had a chance to look over Duane, so Ruck's going to find the offer of eating the dead man who keeps bouncing into the khert irresistible.

Could the Effeby even eat Duane? The venom maybe works through whats left of the spinal column given the available meat/port access, but would eating the pymeric and busting it inside work? Ruck's made out of first materials so whatever's left of Duane's soul should be trapped inside with a closed mouth, plugged nose, etc.

I was just wondering if Sonorie's angle of attack against Bell was going to come back to bite her.

The Soud angle is interesting because the Soud are probably a hot bed of "I am NOT like those fucks off the coast." That is, the separatist Tains who still try to maintain their old culture. So a radical Soud movement would be in a weird place, politically, distancing itself from the Tain but also they're not fighting against the main line Alderode, so where does that leave them?

Everyone was scrambling through the night over the PHP vulnerability, so the thread went up late. It's how I found out something was wrong since I'm temporalily offset from midnight EST myself, not being able to find the thread during the usual time and realizing everything was frozen.

I don't think Ruck was a part of that, he's a Johnny-Come-Lately. There are connections (not necessarily a shared identity) between Ilganyag and Tirna, Shaensigin and Yerta, but the other two were a tree and a fish. No snake.

Having that conversation would just have Duane shouting YOUR GODS ARE DEAD repeatedly until they inject enough pain in him.
