Does anyone here actually find her gags funny?
>>155992303The gags are hit or miss. The main draw is her design and personality.
>>155992303Yeah they're kind of amusing. I think to appreciate them more you gotta keep in mind that the communist block humour was very "working class-oriented", so it was about street smarts and finding clever ways to solve or subvert everyday situations. The humor had to be pragmatic and relatable to an average Joe. You couldn't have something like Calvin daydreaming about being a dinosaur or Charlie Brown wistfully reflecting on his shitty life, the party censor vultures would've seen it as pointless (it doesn't promote any good hard-working values!) and the normal people would've just thought it was too weird and out-there.
>>155992303Newspaper comics, especially 3-panel gag comics, don't have a lot to work with. Taking into account what they have to work with, it's perfectly serviceable.
>>155992303It depends on the comic. Some can be rather poignant like the one of her getting fired only to wind up comforting someone else who got sacked right after her.
