Some parts of this really show when it came out, couple real "erm, that just happened???" lines. But to this day I still love that Epilogue. The twist with SpongeBob is the best part, adds a lot to the rest of the story. It's the moment this thing ascended to true kino

>>156041850It's not entirely out of character, the author has hinted that it's possible that Spongebob didn't know things were going to get so out of hand and only wanted to let his best friend know about what was being done to him (and possibly get revenge on Krabs). In that interpretation Spongebob is definitely taking advantage of the aftermath though even if he didn't originally intend to cause such destruction. The author has refused to outright state Sponge's motivations either in case he ever makes a sequel
