Welcome to Spooktober!
The /co/ thread for all things Halloween! Discuss films, cartoons, comics, and everything related to the spookiest timer we just left behind...

This collection is continuously being updated, as some of the files have been purged by ControlC or Pastebin. We would love it if the writefags archive whatever they can, old or new, and link it in the threads to add to this list, please.

(The /co/llection will only grow if you help it too, share what you've got so we can add it in)

>If you see a troll, hide their post and move on.

>A new thread shall not be made until the bump limit is reached, and the thread reaches page 10.
>Any attempts to lessen or expand the number of threads beyond what we need will be banished from Halloween and boiled in Christmas pudding while listening to Mariah Carey on repeat.

Thank you anon. Oof, I gotta say, I don't think I have ever seen a Spooktober thread die off no where near the bump limit in the middle of the morning when most were awake. And it took hours for a new thread to be put up. It really is a telling sign 4chan as a whole is in the crapper.
I think this is maybe thread five or six? The numbers are all off this year since the first thread started in the middle of a spook thread that was up, and now previous one died super early.
My thoughts are previous thread would have taken us to 30/31 and then we have one last thread on the day off that cools out to the start of November. Still down from the 8 threads from last year, so maybe 6 or 7 threads in total this year(?). Not a good sign.
>>
>What is your favorite scary /co/ movie?
so far it's the disney sleepy hollow.

>>156065243
For whatever reason the board went turbo in new posts earlier I think which is why it died much faster than usual this year. Also you’re welcome

That should be enough to keep a thread afloat you'd think.

Bonus stream tonight!
We'll be watching movies from Japan, Hong Kong, and Spain: Three of the most legendary nations of all time! Also, all will be subtitled so unless you speak Japanese, Cantonese, or Castillianese you will have to read!
Expect five hours of martial arts, slimy beasts, and some pretty cool European animation!
(The stream's schedule will be "Alien vs Ninja", "Encounters of the Spooky Kind", and "Birdboy: The Fogotten Children")
Stream should start in about 15 minutes

Yeah, it does get annoying sometimes, but they've been doing that ever since the beginning and I don't see them stopping anytime soon. Honestly, I just wish Disney would try more original stuff at their parks instead of constantly relying on preexisting IPs.

I don't really remember much scary movies that are animated even from the streams. Coraline might be the default answer for me. Mad God is another one but I prefer watching the Joe Bob Briggs version and with a group of friends to talk about it with.

More thoughts on these as usual

That’s another all time classic Tunes short right here and one of the very few where Sylvester doesn’t talk, I really liked it when he was proven right in the funniest way possible.

And yet another 1960 popeye short and perhaps the earliest appearance of the sea hag looking more like a traditional wicked witch than usual.

You're thinking of Tweetie Pie (1947). Funnily enough he was silent in that one as well.

Sylvester is my favorite Looney Tunes character but I honestly think he's at his best when he doesn't speak (or speaks very little). Unlike with Bugs and Daffy where witty dialogue is an integral part of their dynamic, much of what makes Sylvester entertaining stems from physical comedy, and I prefer it when that essentially does the talking for him

Did you meant late use of the voodoo zombie? It was definitely after Night of the living dead that Romero’s undead became the popular norm, supposedly when Zombie 1979 was in its earlier parts of production it was gonna return to the roots of the classic voodoo zombie but after the success of Dawn of the dead in Italy (which on its own caused a phase of pretty bad zombie films down there) it was retooled into something more closer to Dawn right down to the producers changing the name to “zombi 2.” Speaking of voodoo zombies, one film I saw recently was monogram’s King of the zombies and it definitely doesn’t take itself seriously, my favorite part was when a character who thinks he became one and quote “Move out of the way boys im part of the club now”.

Spring-Heeled Jacqueline was always my favorite because it's such a great pull. Everyone should know about the daredevil prankster and his Moon Shoes.

The moth lady is also doing it for me, though she pits my love of mothgirls against my disdain for Mothman interpretations that take the name too literally. It didn't really evoke a moth much at all in the sightings. They only didn't call it Owlman because that was taken. If you think it actually was an owl like Big Skeptic wants you to think, remember that it kept pace with and then escaped from the sight of a speeding car. The Flatwoods Monster wasn't an owl, either, because its face is a circle within a spade--the opposite arrangement from the owl with those features. It's also rather insulting to think that rural West Virginians wouldn't be able to recognize one if it was.

Igora warms the heart. Also I can't help but be captivated by Mothgirl. At first she looks standoffish but then it comes off as a "I'm not bad; I'm just drawn that way" kind of allure. Woody Woodpecker (2018) - Haunted Hijinks (2020)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8BaxHTS9_A
Woody's niece and nephew bet Woody he can't spend the whole night in a spooky old house. Woody doesn't believe in ghosts and thinks the bet will be easy, but he'll soon be proven wrong.
Here we have the late Eric Bauza voicing Woody and the ghost. The world always needs more Christopher Walken impressions.
>>
>>156092248
Yeah, the film’s also got a more adventurous feel to it and the audience resonates with Kong more (not that audiences back in 1933 didn’t resonate with him) but here it was done intentionally. The parts that were arguably scarier than the original was probably the skull island natives and an actual on-screen depiction of the spider pit sequence
>>
>>156094791
How does the newest woody shorts fare?
>>
>>156094791
And of course it’s time for my personal opinions on these to ‘waltz’ through.

The opening to this is clearly influenced by the skeleton dance that I’m almost convinced it’s the same graveyard lol. This was the era of shorts where Oswald still had his Disney design that was carried over and the style still has that look, a mouse even looks just like Mickey. And that’s no ordinary phantom, it’s the 1925 version with some elements of his red death look. It ends quite awkwardly with him making a joke and just disappearing but I guess he did what he had to do.

The 90s really were the animation renaissance with almost every classic cartoon character making a reappearance and woody was no exception, this one definitely emulated the classic shorts and I’m surprised I didn’t watch this earlier, poor Wally getting the short end of the stick once again.

No comment on the 2020’s short but at least it shows he’s still around and pecking
>>
>>156094818
i admire the effort but i dont think they had the budget to stick the landing

>>156095025
the 90s was like this like all the stars aligning
-execs wanted their own piece of the roger rabbit pie
-boomers who grew up with classic cartoons wanting to revive them for their kids
-asian outsourcing being simultaneously high quality and dirt cheap
-and the explosion of cable bringing in more and more money from reruns
sadly the good times came to an end
>>
>>156091762
Oh snap, is that you, Z00k?
>>
>>156095523
Perhaps someday they’ll be another renaissance period given time. Anyway with the month almost unfortunately over I think some of the bigger shorts are coming best for last
>>
>>156095523
>i admire the effort but i dont think they had the budget to stick the landing
I remember watching some behind the scenes thing on that 2018 Woody reboot cartoon, and I recall seeing storyboards and character drawings that were full of life and soul and...the end result is just souless as fuck. Also why were there so many episodes focused on him going to Brazil?

>-asian outsourcing being simultaneously high quality and dirt cheap
Was it really? Maybe you have a skewed version of this as TMS set the bar really high back in the day with things like TTA and they really were sore on cash back in the day so they had no choice but to out source to the west.

I'm asking out of genuine interest; has a good comic come out since 2012? Because cartoons have been irredeemable garbage around that time too, but comics surely had a head start on decay. Now both mediums are dead and the board is nothing but Hellaverse and Glitch.

Kept getting a lot of threads
It comes out, someone decides to storytime it because someoen had to, and the thread immediately becomes vastly more populated and active than any other storytime that year or even prior on a near exponential level
MULTIPLE people spamming reaction images, disregarding Anons and the OP outright calling them out, etc
I'm kind of convinced it was a factor for the OP to quit storytiming
>>
>>156101300
It was a Storytime of Pain but you had retarded shills posting off model cheesecake and sometimes straight porno to try and convince anyone else it wasn't abysmal dogshit.
>>
>>156101118
I was always of the opinion that comic writing has always been shit, but comics remained popular because they were affordable compared to other means of entertainment and pretty readily accessible
Video streaming got better and cheaper while comics got more expensive and comic shops became harder to find
>>
>>156101118
Depends on what you want
There's still plenty of good stuff being made, its just not actively brought up on /co/
It's kind of eye opening when you find out other places are genuinely more interested in comics than this board

Reactionaries have been a immense cancer to pretty much any hobby space these days, I'm always baffled to see such hysterical behavior from individuals who are likely well into their 30s to later. If it's shit why give it so much attention?
No clue where people like that get their energy from, like the retards posting some randos vent comics for years on end just to circle-jerk and parrot the same mocking points.

TONIGHT ON THE SPOOKY STREAM
Given it is my tenth anniversary of streaming, and all the work that my friends and I have done to offer you a great spooky selection…I think I’ve earned a bit of self-indulgence. Tonight is the fifth anniversary of a certain horror-comedy, and I’ve decided after seeing enough posts and feedback that it’s JUST spooky enough to stream. First, before our main show existed, series creator Liam Vickers was known for other pilots with yet more spooky waifus, including a supernatural western, and a bloody, cube-shaped conspiracy.
Tonight’s DOUBLE-LENGTH MAIN SHOW needs no introduction if you’re familiar with me. But here’s one anyways. On a distant planet, abandoned after humanity’s fall, innocent Worker Drones build their own society, until their manufacturers strike back with a platoon of vampiric Disassembly Drones. When one troubled teen robot attempts to revolt, however, she finds an unexpected friend, and the traces of a much more dangerous, eldritch threat against all of reality. It’s my favorite cartoon, MURDER DRONES.
In our late show, we showcase further spooky highlights from Glitch Productions, the studio responsible for these robots. First, Caine’s attempt to make a more thrilling adventure entraps Pomni and Kinger in a hellish haunted manor. Then, the undead mob family, the Smiling Dead, makes a dangerous gambit for their reputation and for the safety of their youngest member…
Lastly, a further bit of self-indulgence fuels this stream’s bonus REAL EERIE picture. More and more, I find it difficult to do a year of Spooky Streams without this classic about a grave misunderstanding that has betrothed the living to the dead. Tim Burton’s swinging stop-motion masterpiece, CORPSE BRIDE.

A mod decided to effectively ban MD threads sometime before the final episode citing the show as "On Hiatus" and the threads as off topic. Neither of which were true. They moved to Trash before moving to Plus and creating the MD board there. Now threads are allowed again here and we have MD on plus. There also might be some tribe mumbo jumbo going on between them, but I dont pay enough attention to care. I just like drones.

Some posts there talk about it.
I had to register a burner e-mail to post on this place months ago on my desktop because my "temp" ban was no letting up. Ive been fine since.
But, got a new laptop earlier this year, connected to house wifi, made one post on 4chan, than bam, "temp ban for abuse please register an e-mail". Said fuck it, but its very inconvenient not to be able to post on 4chan when using my laptop. I think many people just drop 4chan entirely because its not worth the hassle anymore. It took a fucking MONTH for the temp ban on my laptop to come off by itself, and again, same fucking house IP as my other computer.
where its worked fine for a while.
The IP for my cell seems like every 3-4 months I get hit with a temp ban, never no idea how long its gonna last. I really get tired of it. It's not wonder people have stopped visiting.

Nothing.

There was some brief drama with a faggot Mod that targetted MD threads. Then they came back, then the show concluded.
There are still MD threads but there's a schizoposter that samefags and tries to shit them up with dishonest quarreling and "dramaposting" about the Plus4chan MD board threads.

That's about it. It's just that when the show was running there was loads of drawfagging, writefagging and discussion figuring out the lore and finding all the hidden details.
