>loses the ability to star in movies because his face is disfigured
>gains shapeshifting powers that not only allow him to fix his face but also turn into literally anything he wants at any time
>"OH WOE IS ME! MY LIFE IS FOREVER RUINED! I'LL NEVER ACT AGAIN AND THE ONLY SENSIBLE APPLICATION OF MY NEW SUPERPOWERS IS TO USE THEM TO MURDER PEOPLE!"
And people say this show has great writing.

>And then laugh off the horror of the womans face as he then turns said tentacle rape cluster penises. Into a normal jacked 10" long 8" thick perfectly shaped white penis

Fuck normal acting and pedowood. Dude could become the most legendary porn star the GOAT'd period no one would ever beat him. Being able to star in whatever crazy shit some coked out director comes up with. Millions of dudes&women would be furiously masterbaiting to the insane filth this guy stared in.

Till clayface goes fuck it and creates his own studio outside of America to bypass all laws. Producing the greatest smut ever made he would be in every video. But he wouldnt even have to be fucking. It would turn into a wheres waldo type situation, as dude hides himself in every scene while also splitting his body into the camera man. Hiding as the bed, a carpet a fucking toilet. Dude would be rolling in money for the rest of his life and legit remember forever as the guy who made the greatest porn ever the most fucked up porn ever the guy who created dozens if not hundreds of new genres of porn/film

The guy who made a 50 million dollar budget porno and 3-5X'd his money. Then a few years later one up himself by producing a 250-300 million dollar literal epic the most degenerate porno known to man with a 10k orgy all captured on IMAX 70mm film something only a hand full of directors are able to produce because their is only a few cameras and like 3 dozen projectors in the world. The cost of making the spool of film in theatres is insane because only a single company can do it shit weighs a literal ton and is km's long

As far as I know, him using his transformation isn't something simple, he has to physically exert himself to maintain a form, like he is flexing a bunch of muscles all the time just to keep a human appearance. Even disregarding that, it took a toll on his mind, too.
>>
>>156074572
I did and I actually liked it a lot but I think Clayface's motivations for wanting to kill Daggett didn't make any sense.
Imagine I give you superpowers with no drawbacks. Why would you waste them killing the guy who gave them to you?
It's not even like Hagen can't live a normal life again either. He could totally just shapeshift back into his old self and return to being an actor again.

>>156074624
>he has to physically exert himself to maintain a form, like he is flexing a bunch of muscles all the time just to keep a human appearance
Given the numerous times throughout the episode where he was able to take on a convincing human form (the security guard in the hospital, the old woman in the audience of the talk show), I don't really see how that's true.
>>
>>156074680
I do think it is stated in the comics that it is physically and mentally straining, like, it makes him tired, and if he gets hurt or pissed or loses focus in any way the transformation starts to fail, but you know how it is, the story needs to happen so that only happens when it is convenient for the story.

Nta but I don't think you understood how the only reason that he kept is disguise when trying to kill Dagget was because he had nobody startling him and even before becoming Clayface was shown to have very little self-control. And all of this was before he was starting to break down and couldn't even hold his form in public for long. When Matt realized how hard it was to keep a form without a goal such as getting revenge, he gave up and simply wanted Dagget to pay, until he tried to get a cure which obviously mean not asking Batman che help and commenting crime.

The cartoon for children outright explains that he can't hold on to his form indefinitely, outright explaining it's like tensing a muscle. Are you dumber than a child?
Did you not catch the follow up episode where he's stealing chemicals that will allow him to keep a shape indefinitely and Batman's trying to stop him because he's doing it through stealing?
>>
Unrelated, but I only started watching BTAS for the first time recently and I'm surprised that the gangsters in this show use actual guns and how dark some of the stories are.
Compare this to other animated shows of the time like Spider-Man TAS where the censorship was so bad that only laser guns were allowed and Spidey wasn't even allowed to punch people.

>Richardson: I think we had a tougher time with BS&P because of the realistic design style that we decided to use for Spider-Man, as opposed to the more stylized Batman series. I was told by BS&P that Batman was a cartoonier show; therefore the restrictions were a little more liberal. Batman was also considered a period piece, because of the style, so they got away with fewer restrictions because it was felt that you were watching something from another era.

>In addition, Batman started before an increased sensitivity to violence became more prevalent in children's TV. Also, FOX didn't have the magnifying glass on them like the other three major networks when they first started their big push into children's programming. But, eventually, everyone was affected by that new sensitivity.
Semper's gone on to claim that Spider-Man never punching anybody was his decision and not something forced on them by BS&P.
>>
>>156075203
Batman offered to help him at the beginning of the episode and Clayface said no. He was stealing, and he was going to use his upgraded powers for nothing good (Clayface then goes on to try to suffocate him to death), so he had to be brought in.

There's no guarantee the thieving murderer's device would have done what he was claiming it would. The state wasn't able to cure him when they caught him so it likely wouldn't have worked anyway.

Like all Batman villains, his experience drove him mad. It's like asking why Mr. Freeze doesn't just patent and sell his amazing cryotechnology, or the Riddler just use his genius to become rich and powerful legally. They're nuts. That's even the tragedy of the character, he finally has the means to be the greatest actor ever but he's too broken to use it.

>Batman offered to help him at the beginning of the episode

That's one reason BTAS Batman is the best version. He's always shown offering to help his villains and actually caring about them and wanting them to be better. He only fights them when they reject it. "AKSHUALLY BATMAN IS JUST AS CRAZY AS THEM" or "BATMAN JUST LIKES BEATING PEOPLE UP" is so tiresome.
>>
>>156075338
Censors and parental groups generally care more about how close to home something is in terms of content. There’s a weird case of Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles in the UK having to ban Mikey’s nunchucks, because nunchucks were easy enough to get ahold of in the UK to be an issue. Not so much katanas or sais, so no issue was raised for those.

This was just something common for Batman in general in the past, Golden Age Batman lobbied to get prisoners work after serving their time, Adam West Batam episodes often ended with him making sure teenage henchmen of the villains were on their way to reform, 80’s Batman would try and set punks right(hell Jason’s second origin is basically that), and even Grant Morrison’s Batman had him get a misguided criminal a job in Wayne Enterprises to the point she became a recurring background character.
This concept has fallen by the wayside since the whole concept of prisoner reform has become lost in modern America, for a multitude of reasons people generally don’t see criminals as people who can reform after a crime and a lot of people take prison more as an angle to punish rather than to fix people and reintegrate them to society.
Plus there’s also the unfortunate thing that seeing these villains go back to crime makes it hard to feel sympathy. Even within BTAS it becomes an issue. Mad Hatter’s debut episode makes him a pitiable creature, but in his second episode only like two episodes later he’s putting Batman in a coma just to get rid of him, and by his last major episode in BTAS he’s just using his tech to steal money. Making these villains regular makes it hard to make them sympathetic because they need to do basic villain things to keep their story going.

>Mad Hatter’s debut episode makes him a pitiable creature, but in his second episode only like two episodes later he’s putting Batman in a coma just to get rid of him

The comic made a change to that plotline that I think makes it absolutely better.

Mad Hatter had absolutely nothing to gain, he just did it because he realized he had never seen Batman happy and it was the only way, in his own madness, he thought he could help.
>>
>>156075785
Yes they're meant to be crazy, but crazy people who get sympathy points in real life tend to be deluded crazies who shit themselves and arten't killing people.
Batman villains tend to be compulsive but put together enough to plan, it's hard to think the Joker is in a position of pity, he comes off as being aware of what he's doing.
>>
>>156075918
Because Lock-Up is a character tailormade for Suicide Squad that for some reason keeps showing up in Batman stuff.

Suicide Squad by design uses pre-existing villains, so if anything he'd have to start in Batman comics to move onto SS.

So, weirdly enough, there is a reason for this. The TAS crew combined the origins of the two original Clayface, the first named Basil who was just a regular actor who got removed from a movie, and subsequently started killing off the actors of said movie in the order they would die in the movie. He didn't have shapeshifting superpowers, he had a funky mask and that was it.

Matt Hagan was the first to have superpowers and his name was Clay-Face. With the hyphen. He just found a random radioactive pool in a cave and when he dunked in it he got the shapeshifting powerup. That's it. He just... found a random fuckass cave and took a dip and then was like "Wow I have the ability to do anything!... BETTER FUCKING DO SOME CRIME!" He seriously gained the power to do anything and his plan A was to grab 10K meant for a police fund, and being handed to Batman. Like he actually waited until the handoff to make his move. He also had a Cinderella time limit where if he didn't dunk in the radioactive pool every 48 ours he suddenly loses his powers.

So, the TAS crew apparently felt that "Actor who gets pissed off he lost a role" was more compelling than "Crime because crime" dude and combined the two, and here we are. Kind of fucks with the overall storytelling, though.

Alright, I'm going to assume someone already said it here but it bears repeating if so, there were very clear limits to his powers. He described the shapeshifting like tensing a muscle, it was impossible for him to maintain the appearance of a normal human being for more than a few moments, meaning he had to look like a lumpy mud creature nearly all the time.

Anon Clayface can't keep his original human form for very long, or any shape really. That horrible monster form is now the default. It's like trying to fix your posture or suck in your gut 24/7, eventually you have to relax and let the muscle loose. That and Clayface is vulnerable to moisture, extreme heat, and of course electrical currents. And if he REALLY exerts himself too far, he'll be a puddle for a while.

Being Clayface is not fun

>>

>>
>>156077777
There's joy in his sadistic performances, but that's really the only escape he has. He's not even Basil/Matt anymore, he imitates everyone to fill a psychological void. He can't stop being an actor, because he has virtually no identity of his own besides the criminal career that is Clayface. He's so pathetic that he's STILL chasing that dream of being a star again, and can't let it go
>>
>>156077899
This is beautifully said and that might be true for most Clayfaces nowadays but pre-Flashpoint Basil was already psycho before he willingly became the monster
>>
>>156077586
That was the movie, it was allowed to get away with a whole lot more than the TV anime. You NEVER get to see in detail, the level of body horror Hokuto Shinken does to people in the anime.
