>>156138767The shows have different problems, which makes for interesting comparisons. LoK was extremely competently made in purely technical terms, but the characters were bad and the plots just never cooked right. 7H has glaring technical issues all over the place, but the twins aren't as actively hateable as Korra. Yet.
>>156139056...so korra is so shit that even if she found a way to go in the recycling bin and undo deleting the avatar state, she made it even more challenging for the next avatar to unlock their crutch powers after she let the apocalypse happened because she wanted life to be on hard mode for her new game plus
Seems most think Nisha is gonna be stuck in Ellora for most of the story til she either the Haven falls or Pavi comes back for her but do remember that the White Lotus members from other Havens urged Karthik to have her be sent away for training. I can totally see scenarios where she'll also go to the other Havens with the reason to further her training and then she'll deal with some of the chakras.

>>156138757My biggest complaint with the bending was that the animators no longer seem to have basic knowledge of physics. But to be fair I had the same complaint in airbender when fire had kinetic force?
I think I like big girls
>>156139191>fire had kinetic forceI always overlooked the fire somehow being even more kinetic than air because it was their way of having fire be less much less violent than burning people in a kid's show
>>156139191It's just a conceit of firebending that it's basically spicy airbending in terms of physics. I mean, why should a blast of fire have less force than a blast of air? The difference is that airbending is more flexible.
So what's the consensus on this show now? Better than expected?
>>156138648I hope they don't negate her killing her parents. It really kills the tension and danger of their powers.
Hehe I talk to bugs and rocks. The ground is my everywhere friend. I'm very quirky!
>>156139293I like it a lot. And there's plenty of world building to autist over.
>>156138699Her comics didn't sell well either iirc. Plus not really anything worth wearing but a korra shirt and even then most of the new designs are much more boring than the original. I think that new big art scene the crew posted would be a great poster for 7h though.
>>156138998I don't know. I don't suddenly have a higher opinion of Korra. I've always said for over a decade that Korra is amazing in everything except writing, which drags down the whole show. It's just depressing to see them slide back on all the things Legend of Korra didn't actually fuck up, while still having bad writing anyway.
>>156139293So far it's more coherent than Korra, which is all I'm really asking for at this point. Not that Kayoko's sudden despotism and the Faceless being portrayed as dindus isn't weak writing, but fuck my standards are on the floor for Avatar.
>>156139340>read Korra comics>Asami gets kidnapped in both of themHmm

>>156139373Yeah, as much as I didnt like korra's writing decisions, the animation and music were still top notch. It is disappointing that the remaining saving grace of the series was replaced with what resemble Steven universe more than it does avatar
>>156139374More coherent? Korra's writing was perfectly coherent, just fucking dumb because Korra herself was fucking dumb. Seven Havens is the one that has bizarre incoherent moments.
I think bryke really over estimate how much anyone thinks of asami. Even in the peak of korra she wasn't even popular most of her porn exist to fuck korra. Them saying "oh she's dead" no shit it's been 200 years and she was 40ish at the time of the collapse as well. But I hope they don't ruin s2 by over focusing on korrasami.
That scene where the queen sandbends and reveals the faceless hideout looked kinda stupid, she did a bunch of movements that did nothing before actually start bending the sand, reminded me of that first live action movie
>>156139485She was the most likable person in korras team avatar
>>156139051True, poor baby
>>156139293Decent but I don't like a single character. All of them are very bland and forgettable. I also think not having anyone from the old generation brings this show down by a LOT. I think one of Korra's biggest qualities were the old characters and their kids (or grandkids) interacting with the new gen. Hell, Korra and Tenzin's relationship was one of the best in the show. Interacting with Wu gave Mako a character. Seven Havens is missing out on that.
>>156139374It's a kids' show and having just rewatched all of ATLA, you faggots are either not remembering that show's faults, or nostalgia blinds you to them. I'd say that in terms of characters and story, SH and ATLA are season 1 are comparable. ATLA had to juggle with its episodic nature and focusing on characters that would SOMETIMES show up again way later, but at it at least developed Aang, Katara, Sokka and Zuko throughout it all somewhat. In SH, Jae, Karthik and the twins get developed much more slowly, but I'd argue that the plot is a lot more focused than early ATLA. >>156139293I'd say so. Stringing viewers along with its mysteries and reveals, and hard hitting moments are its biggest strengths. The speculation aspect is very fun, which wasn't really the case for Korra and I was just a dumb kid watching ATLA so I just talked about what bending was the coolest with friends. How will Pavi and Nisha reconcile? Will Pavi unleash the anomaly this time and Nisha will be the one that conquers it by letting go of her guilt, or are they doing the light/dark avatar thing?
>>156138729Man. I give Korra a lot of shit but sometimes it had really great animation.

>>156139495She was literally the most boring member as well she didn't do anything. Also she was cool until the relationship drama started then she just was the kinda smart girl. Jinora and tenzin felt way more useful and relevant than asami ever was
>>156139507Also, ATLA had 20 episode seasons to work with, a luxury neither TLoK or SH have. Considering they're sticking with the format that Korra had, the show could be a lot worse.

>>156139485Even back in LoK, I was wondering why she was sticking around so long, she felt like a 3rd wheel, and it was weird that her weapon of choice for years was some stun glove she looted off a random henchman. Glad im not the only one who noticed their overestimating of interest in asami, she was just a businesswoman who was fucking the avatar on the side...and it was 200 years. No shit she died a long time ago like every one

>>156139310But this way we're on track for Punished Karthik!
>>156139574Was that just me or was that stupid asf, she stole a glove that was literally made by the enemies/her dad and kept using it but she could barely fight and it needed you to be up close and personal. She had a whole company and barely contributed anything but a car or some small tech. She should have been better than sokka but she was less useful, why didn't she make a lightning gun or a tazer. Or some form of upgrades to her glove at least. She was the non bender and had way more resources than sokka but somehow did nothing with them til like the finale and that was more her dad than her. Literally half the time the materials they used weren't even hers but another political/rich characters things like the toph's daughter or tenzin's stuff.
>>156139485>>156139574Nah Asami was extremely propped up by the fandom because in Book 1 she got dealt a shit hand (boyfriend's cheating on you with the Avatar, dad's a terrorist) and was everything Korra wasn't, which was seen as a good thing. If you go look at what Datu fans are doing right now, basically describing a character that doesn't exist and getting mad over his treatment, Asami went through the same thing. So much that even now 12 years later people still think she was this amazing character. She had the least lines out of the Krew and even some like Tenzin and Jinora had more lines than her.
>>156139507The episodic nature of early AtLA is a feature, not a bug. It's not made to be consumed in one sitting like modern shows. Meanwhile the 7H is more focused, but to what avail? No one except the twins get any development and the plot has some of the most insufferable crawling yet breathless pacing I've ever seen.Plus AtLA has better comedic timing, which buys it a LOT more leeway than 7H on the humor.
>>156139145Jae is too much of a Karthik fanboy to not have secretly stolen some sort of long range communicator so that they can talk. Alternatively, I think that the red aurora streak is quite literally pointing the way the next Haven. This is probably the most promising aspect of the show for me - the fact it'll bring back the element of adventure and seeing the world that avatar had and that Korra downplayed.

>>156139574Bryke was setting her up for a villain arc, then decided it would be more interesting to have her dodge the cliche and stay a good guy. And they weren't wrong, it was cool in the moment. But then they had no other ideas to fill the empty space and never came up with anything interesting ever. So she just stays stuck in her place, like an NPC whose scripting got broken.
>>156139574True she literally is probably the one that ended the world based on the clip but somehow they'll say "she is feeling guilt and was well meaning just failed". I felt this anon like them trying to imply korra lived a long time or something like no shit they'd be dead they'd have to be 240+ years old they both were graying and had wrinkle lines before the 200 year time skip. Unless they want to set up super insane potential life spans I don't see the point.>>156139617I do get this and I liked her as well at first but like most people s1 holds a special place because I assumed they'd actually do something and she never lived up to the potential. I think at best you can say she was the most "pitied" character as korra cucked her like 2 times but that pity only goes so far. Also she chose the girl that cucked and ruined her life twice so she chose disfunction. But please god let's not start the korrasami bs today, but my point is she really is only "relevant" because ok looking female character and she bangs the avatar/brown tomboy.I think you are confusing "oh this is a cool bg character" with man this is the most popular character yeah you have the classic "Man bg character no2 with 2 scenes is a badass" comments like people hyping amow. But if amow never does anything she's just a guilty pleasure/cool bg character. But worse thing about asami is she is in a lot of scenes but is so forgettable tell me a truly good asami scene that isn't just her kissing korra.
>>156139645I can't see it working as well. The Gaang had Appa flying them around, so it made sense they could reach a new interesting location every episode or the North Pole within one season. Jae and Pavi are going by foot. Plus they only have six or seven episodes per chakra/haven.
>>156139716>so forgettable tell me a truly good asami scene that isn't just her kissing korra. She never even kisses Korra outside the comics. But the scene where she goes against her dad and saves every was pretty memorable. It's also the last time she has meaningful agency as a character.
>>156139616Now that you mention it, she was the engineer on the team(on a steampunk-ish time) and they couldnt find a way to make her lean into her one gimmick but to hold on to a stun gun for dear life and have her be a close range fighter in a setting full of benders.
>>156139708And possibly ate her sister's leg before Karthik found her.

An the set up and fact they say pavi is the focus in most of the og lore stuff implies it'll stay this way. Even her win seems to be focused on her causing another tragedy for herself.Plus now pavi hates her she will dog walk nisha in front of everyone expose the fraud twin kek.
>>156139731You act like they won't open with Jae saying something like "We've been traveling for a month now". I remember someone calling it that Kayoko was gonna immediately say "We've been searching for two weeks" the episode after Nisha got revealed.
Ngl I think the "Asami died before the show haha" thing is an accidental hint the theory she died before the cataclysm and therefore Korra has legs.
>>156139555It's pretty annoying how Daemin and Jae are competing to see who is the new Bolin, but at least Jae gets to actually do stuff.
>>156139762Why do the Ellorans love Nisha at all? They know it was Pavi who disarmed the anomaly, right?
>>156139687>alright now rip their heart out
>>156139606True but I prefer karthik remains well meaning moral gray none of this killing your parents or secretly did something. Plus pov just would be massive plot leap for them to both to be alive and for karthik to have planned it. It would be a true character shift and assassination more than what some say about pavi.
>does nothing>gets spirit cancer>dies
>>156139712>like an NPC whose scripting got broken.Like that unit you recruited but just sits there because you already seen all of their dialog trees
>>156139626>comedic timingLMAO!Dude the only thing that actually made me laugh watching the show again was the Ember Island Players episode, Sokka's quips at most got a chuckle out of me. Speaking of, what was even the point of him learning the sword? He learns how to wield one, and the one thing he uses it for is to throw it like a boomerang. And I think I posted once before I was rewatching the show maybe you or someone else said something similar, but I disagree, at least as far as season 1 goes. It's the show at its rawest and most unfocused. The goal is clear since the get-go: get Aang to learn all 4 elements. Meeting Roku reveals by when he should master the elements. I didn't need Jet's episode to become aware Sokka and Katara wouldn't be into indiscriminately killing Fire Nation citizens. Katara's growth as a waterbender is also weird - it happens offscreen. She can barely bend save for outbursts of anger like cracking ice in episode 1, teaches Aang her basic moves which me immediately masters, gets the water scroll to learn the water whip and then boom - at the south pole by the time she challenges Paku she is better at waterbending than Aang by a country mile. Zuko's episodes where he ISN'T chasing Aang are the best and most important in S1. The rest? Not so much.
>>156139756They had a really fucking hard time threading the needle on finding situations where Asami's engineering know how was useful. Like, she's the team pilot/driver and then she knows some tricks when she and Korra are captured on an airship. Otherwise Varrick completely eats her lunch in S2 and S4.
>>156139756Exactly and she wasn't even a ty lee type see if she was some type of genuine martial artist and had the shock glove or baton then it'd fit. Shit they showed exactly the type of build she could be aka the equalist fighters imagine if she learned from them and became a bender fighter mix of chi blocking and steampunk gear. But no she was just the kind of snarky rich girl who barely did shit.>>156139751I barely remember that sadly I know the scene somewhat but basically can't even remember it all that well. Like I know she suffered but thought it was more korra that put her dad on blast then asami later found the proof.
>>156139731Anon, it's a fucking cartoon. They can bend time however they want. We're not gonna see Pavi riding Geet and Jae running behind them for 5 minutes straight to get a representation of them traveling far to reach the next Haven.

>>156139712I would've preferred if they didnt make mako a cheater and korra a gross homewrecker who dates all her friends. >>156139787With Kayoko completely red eyed and crazier than usual the anti-Avatar sentiments seem to have turned in favor of the Avatar saving them all. Nisha may not have done as much as Pavi, but being the twin of the Avatar and an Avatar herself would get her support by proxy, plus Karthik is likely playing up the angle that she stalled the dome and helped save people. It's true, but one cannot help but think that if Nisha hadn't kept running from the memory and faced her fear they wouldn't have been in that mess.Poor kid has too much Korra in her, I guess.

I like the art direction they've got for the avatar kuruk show, I hope it stays like that and it doesn't become fully voltronified like Seven Havens, but I'm pissed that they made him a little kid. Is he even supposed to know he's the avatar at that age? What about his team? They'll have to make an avatar series mainly geared towards the people that grew up with it eventually, right?
>>156139869What bait? I'm trying to have an honest conversation with you here. My point isn't that ATLA sucks actually and SH is better and you should feel bad if you think it has problems - it's merely that at least as far as season 1 goes, ATLA was a lot more unfocused and suffers from some of the same issues as SH because again, they are both shows for kids. That's all I'm saying. I dunno if it's nostalgia or what that keeps you fags from seeing this. Like prior to my rewatch, I hadn't watched ATLA in almost 20 years. The show is still amazing, don't get me wrong, but it does have issues and I think Season 1 is when those issues were at its worst. Where it really felt like it was just Saturday morning cartoon villain of the week tier, and I think that hurts the show because simplicity is the show's strength, not mindlessness. And I think S1 walked often into mindlessness with moments of Aang's main journey sprinkled throughout. From S2 on they got much, much better at doing what they do best: taking a simple story anyone can enjoy and telling it very well, and dropping some nuggets of wisdom like Iroh does. To me, a character like him is what SH is sorely missing.
>>156138873>How could you do that to your family?>I dunno Pavi. How could my family do that to me?
>>156139900I think the joke is that Mako is essentially useless and largely superfluous as a character. The only thing the poor bastard had going for him was his pretty face, and that's all he's got left.Bolin is useless too but he's the comedy relief buttmonkey so he never had anything going for him.
>>156139293>Better than expected?Certainly. Rough in some spots sure but better than I thought it was going to be going in. Needs some tighter dialogue and a better animation budget.
I would expect that people who were indoctrinated their entire life about how the avatar is the antichrist would show a bit of resistance to the idea that she's actually based but I guess not WHOOO GO AVATAR WE LOVE THE AVATAR WHOOO

Shame the animation quality doesn't do it much justice. The twins antics are definitely the best part, so it's a shame that they now have a wedge between them. I'm a bit soured about the season ending. Pavi's had a personality shift and they seem to be pushing this into the Pavi Show. This could all go Dragon Prince on us very easily. Or, hell, Voltron. I don't do social media, is there a horde claiming they character assassinated Jae's boyfriend or are people happier that he's single again?

I wish there was a way to guarantee having twin daughters. I feel like twin siblings are the best kind of siblings.
Is Jeet a guy? The wiki page says yes but I don’t recall his gender being specified in the show. Also it took my like 10 episodes to figure out Ruhi’s name.

>>156139986I mean she punched the fuck out of the doom dome destroying the only known habitable spot in the region. She also went into a bending frenzy whipping civilians to safety left and right, and that really plays with the little guy.Considering Kayoko is likely outed as the reason behind the dome after she murdered a dude and dumped toxic spirit waste into the ruins beneath the city, the only big leader left is Karthik who no doubt is playing up the Avatars for all he's worth. Ellora has a council, but they don't seem to do much of anything.
>>156140039>and they seem to be pushing this into the Pavi ShowIt is the Pavi Show, they confirmed it in an interview that the story is mostly about her, but Nisha still has a huge part to play. I'm guessing she's going to be like Zuko in terms of importance.>>156140094Geet and Ruhi are girls.
>>156139964S1 is definitely when they're still finding their footing and there's still pure kid's show stuff happening from time to time. But even so, I still think it holds up shockingly well. I have a very hard time thinking of any of it as true filler, aside from the Great Divide. And I'm consistently entertained enough by the episode plots that I'm not dying from only modest progress being made in the overall plot. The breathing room to go on adventures is refreshing to me in comparison to something like ASH being so claustrophobic and breathless, while somehow not actually telling that much more story in that time.

The Avatar is still a person, it would not make much sense that just because the one we follow first, Aang, only learns (more like has mastered) one element by 12 it means everyone else has to be like him.And still, being a master airbender at 12 is fucking crazy. Also, there was doubt with Kyoshi because she was alive at the same time that earthbending dude that was doing crazy shit was alive.
>>156140100"Who wants to see the avatar go on a journey to learn more about themselves, the new world, pick up new friends and foes along the way? We already did that shit in atla, so lets fix what isnt broken and never do that again"-Bryke(probably), 2011
i think nisha should become a destroyer avatar
>>156139939Maybe seeing pavi being mean to nisha will be cute.
>>156140104It was the Pavi Show since the first hints of the series, back when it was just known she'd be traveling with Jae which didn't even happen until the last five minutes of the season. And I fear that will be the problem. People seem to really enjoy the two girls working together, Team Avatars, so Pavi getting chosen and Nisha being pushed aside will feel like bait and switch. Especially if Pavi's personality shift remains.Spending an entire season building things up in one direction only to do a rug pull. If season 2 is weaker than the first one (and it very well good be given who is running the show) on top of that things won't look good for the future of this series.
Yeah but dude…she’s nine
>>156140110The Kyoshi Island episode feels a lot like filler to me, as well as the Northern Air Temple but I can agree with you that even if I think it hurts the show because it goes from simple story (good) to just kiddy conflict of the week stuff (bad), it was still entertaining. I do think both ATLA S1 and SH ended on strong points though. I disagree with your take on SH feeling claustrophobic, and again I think the fact they left the Haven is a good think and they're going back to something that made ATLA such a memorable show: exploring the world. And again, SH and Korra didn't have the luxury of having seasons of 20 episodes where you could have what is in essence a sidequest show maybe twice in a row where a character gets to grow in some way. I think SH told a good, interesting story in 13 episodes, it made me care and become invested in the avatars, and I didn't roll my eyes at the faceless conflict and philosophy. I do wish Jae and Karthik were a little stronger and had more moments of growth, but I'll take adoring Pavi and Nisha for now. Also, thanks to my rewatch I think S2 of ATLA is the show at its best. Despite the episodic nature, every single show feels like its building up to Aang's main goal, Ba Sing Se was very interesting and I didn't mind the extended stay there, the stuff with Appa was very emotional. The Tales of Ba Sing Se is so good. Azula is a great new viilain. Just peak Avatar with great bending, the characters growing and plenty of emotional moments.
>>156140137Back in AtLA, there seemed to be more emphasis on actually having to learn a bit in order to bend at all. It was a skill that took time and effort. They've been lowering that threshold for producing useful results since LoK.
After Korra, the writers have made the bold decision to have the new avatars be literally 9 years old, allowing any criticisms of their actions to be easily hand waved away because they’re literally nine dude.
>>156140292Playing Devil's advocate, how is that not the case in the newer shows?Even normal benders have to know they can bend an element without any teaching, because then they'd go their entire lives possible without knowing they can bend. Korra's dad could have taught her water bending, his style was mostly using ice like an earthbender and that could have translated to earthbending. With the twins, the White Lotus test shows they aren't masters at all, it just shows they can bend all 4 elements. And in Aang's case, he doesn't struggle at all to waterbend to the point it's weird how he didn't do it all and technically he does it when he encases himself in ice while in the Avatar state.Jeong Jeong teaches him to breathe and to pose, stuff I'm sure he learned while airbending. Aang was bored out of his mind. He really didn't need to learn much in order to firebend right away.Earthbending was his only real struggle.
I have the suspicion this series is going to go full Dragon Prince. Decent world building at first but none of what is actually on screen manages to reach even the levels of the damn fan speculations, which is just sad. It'll also have very poorly thought out messaging because the people running the show are hacks who got lucky one time with the first series and consistently failed to match it despite numerous attempts. It'll all end in a massive wet fart. But, hey, maybe I'm just being cynical.
All I know is if didn’t see someone else shoot fire out of their asshole, I don’t think I would have ever attempted to shoot fire out of my own asshole. That’s all I’m saying.
>>156140361Congratulations, you're getting Karthik as the final boss using fartbending and you'll damn well like it.
>>156138729we didn't know how good we had it (or how bad it would get)
>>156140361>tfw you will never shoot lightning or fire out of your cock
Technically both Korra and Nisha spent more time actually learning the other elements than Aang did. He learnt the remaining three in less than a year.
>>156140383I think their point is more about the other Avatars being able to use the other elements seemingly at will with no training. Cue Korra bursting through the wall like the Koolaid Man and bending three elements at the same time. There is a difference between fully trained in an element and instantly being able to manifest it at all. Korra just weirdly lacked airbending. The girls, meanwhile, have the full set of elements but aren't fully trained yet. Nisha is further along than Pavi, at least until Pavi suddenly last minute levels up against the dome.
>>156140380
>>156140324In a recent interview they said that anyone who didnt like korra was just a racist/sexist/homophobe as well. So maybe the reason they dumbed down ASH was so they could use the "it's just a kids show l" defense for when people call it shit this time
>>156140283>I think SH told a good, interesting story in 13 episodes, it made me care and become invested in the avatars, and I didn't roll my eyes at the faceless conflict and philosophy.I'll agree that they managed to make me care about the twins more than I expected, but I don't think the story of Ellora was very good as a wrapper for the twins' story. I just don't give a damn about the Faceless once their motives turn out to be so mundane and they're just kinda dicks. I don't care about the brigade because most of the characters therein are just shockingly flat for how much screentime they get. Kayoko isn't interesting as a villain, zero charisma. Her only truly memorable moment is killing that scientist guy simply because it's so out of left field. You could replace every single character in the show besides the girls and Karthik and I wouldn't care in the slightest.
>>156138710>cut the bindings on the manacles>manacles themselves also disappear
>>156140292>there seemed to be more emphasis on actually having to learn a bit in order to bend at allThat was not a thing for any character at all ATLA. The only reason Aang didn't easily pick up earth and fire in book one was because of his unique personality
>>156140402And yet I already explained Aang actually does water and fire bend basically at will. And he's a master airbender at 12. Korra calls herself a master of 3 elements at 16, but technically she didn't pass her firebending mastery test, and again, she's older than Aang. This is just revisionist history to justify disliking the newer stuff at its finest.
>>156139520Jae went around pushing them out of his ass before they started the jail break
>>156140436Only when exposed to people showing him. He did, however, do better than Katara at first with the water whip.
>>156138873>Nisha, how could you do that to your family... to me - your 9-year-old twin sister, Pavi?
Looking back it is kinda funny hearing that bryke being such divas had creative differences with shyamalan and the Netflix live action creators and walked off both sets. Both the movie and Netflix show were (terrible but) held to such an extreme scrutiny by bryke loyalist, but now when they get a new avatar show that has terrible writing they are have nothing critical to say about it.
>>156140448He did it again huh posing lmao
>>156140426Eh, I mean it wasn't anything spectacular, but I think Kayoko really made the faceless' point for them becoming such a fearmongering cunt. I disagree with the idea the brigade gets a lot of screentime to the point its disproportionate to how developed the characters are. Like when Yuki gets captured, I literally went>whoWhen Jae and the girls went around looking for them. Kayoko isn't a villain per se...more like the representation of the irrationality of fear. Like the ugly side of the root chakra personified. Aside from that yeah, I wouldn't die on the hill that the characters aside from the twins are good, Jae and Karthik had their moments but I wanted a bit more at least from them. I kinda have my doubts later seasons will do much for them but we'll see. For better or worse, SH is going to be all about the twins. For now, given how much I like them, I don't mind.
>>156140448>>156140498>she killed them again huh
>>156140473He fucking encased himself in ice in the avatar state, and used a fuckhuge watersprout in just episode 1, prior to ever seeing Katara waterbend. With that logic, surely Korra and Nisha/Pavi saw other benders, rendering the argument moot and hypocritical then.
>>156139507>Stringing viewers along with its mysteries and reveals, and hard hitting moments are its biggest strengths. No? On top of the fact that the show is predictable as shit its also so thoroughly unengaging.
>>156140547Oh sorry I wasn't aware the master of the universe was in this thread.
>>156140436>aang was a air master at 12 and spent a year learning the other 3>korra was a master of everything but air at 17 and spent what was probably a few months learning itAll avatars are natural benders that still need a teacher, but Aang's circumstances made him have to learn it earlier than most compared to korra in a time of peace. I also think that the "korra mastered things too fast" is bullshit too but theres plenty of reasons to dislike LoK.
>>156140532Also, Jeong Jeong never teaches him a progression from stance > breathing > bending. He gives him a fucking leaf to practice with and Aang firebends at will.
>>156140353>Even normal benders have to know they can bend an element without any teaching, because then they'd go their entire lives possible without knowing they can bend. That's sort of the point. In AtLA, it felt like you could go your whole life without knowing you're a bender just because you never had the opportunity to try. Like never learning you have a knack for archery because you never had a reason to pick up a bow. The fact that some people just don't got it even if they tried just adds to that feeling.Aang didn't learn waterbending on his own because it's a completely different skill from what he's learned. He picks it up quickly because he's the avatar, but he still needs someone to actually give him the starting point. Thus with earth, thus with fire. But then that's just not a thing anymore. Getting results from bending is just easier now. Bending is just something you can do instinctively and the skill aspect is just doing it better.
>>156140594>In AtLA, it felt like you could go your whole life without knowing you're a bender just because you never had the opportunity to tryIt never felt like that to me
>>156140532Avatar State is pure cheatmode, so it's pretty moot. Remember the Avatar State gives him access to all his past selves, to the extent that Roku even briefly took over Aang's body and wrecked an entire fire temple. It's just not a good argument to run with.
>>156140435And Roku only knew fire until they told him he was the avatar at 16. I guess he and Aang and all the other previous avatars were just stupid.
>>156140578The White Lotus guy straight up says she didn't master firebending. To be fair to both, it seems that at their young age they've only truly mastered one element: Aang air and Korra water. Still, the idea that the girl avatars are these special snowflakes because they can bend elements earlier than Aang could, but Aang "airbending master at 12" isn't, or that outright mastery over an element isn't impressive or snowflake shit at all is retarded.
>>156140594>That's sort of the point. In AtLA, it felt like you could go your whole life without knowing you're a bender just because you never had the opportunity to try. Like never learning you have a knack for archery because you never had a reason to pick up a bow. The fact that some people just don't got it even if they tried just adds to that feeling.Did you fags watch some alternate version of the original series? Or are you asking chatbots to generate you some bait?
>>156140552No I'm just right,
>>156140581Aang has seen plenty of firebenders in action, though, not just all of the troops constantly trying to kill him and his friends, but back in the day he used to hang with the hotmans, flameo. The leaf was also already burning, the lesson was to keep the fire on the leaf from burning to the edges as long as he could.
I hope we get more amow and pavi interactions
>>156140594I think it felt like that to you because there was the occasional subplot of how the Fire Nation would round up/kill any water or earthbenders they could find. Being any bender besides a firebender was rough during ATLA, but not the norm for the world setting. Especially since a lot of Fire Nation mooks were benders and the NWT's city basically relied on waterbenders to function.
>>156140616One guy being an outlier doesn't disprove anything. Especially not when said guy lives in an isolated nation like the fire nation.
>>156140608It's a great argument to run with actually, because then the earth nation general or whatever the fuck he was that wanted to force him to go into the Avatar state was right. Or, Roku could have simply told him>learn to control the avatar stateand finding Guru Pathik would have been the entire point of the journey, because even with all the elements at his disposal, he needed to enter the avatar state to stop Ozai. The argument that the girls are skipping steps or somehow better because they can bend but aren't masters is just extremely stupid. The goalpost has been moved a lot by this retarded argument.>>156140648Right, and again Aang was bored that Jeong Jeong was pussyfooting about. Katara at least demonstrates bending her element in its entirety. Jeong Jeong doesn't. And again, in both cases, Aang bends both elements basically at will. So no, you're not going to convince me that what the girls do is somehow special or diminishing what ATLA establishes, when Aang only struggles to learn earthbending. He literally shows Zuko he can produce a flame, he simply choses to not do so again because he burns Katara.
>>156140649I hope Amow has a boulder fall on her. Literally every scene she's in is about her being a thief or rat, she has no friends or loyalties, and her shtick got really old by her second appearance.
>>156140696To further prove my point: your logic, to me, is like watching ATLA and getting mad Aang doesn't want to kill Ozai at 12 years old despite all the avatars he talks to telling him>yeah i'd just kill him lmaoAnd some retard here going "hurr durr why is Aang talking back and diminishing the Avatar legacy by not fucking killing Ozai when even an airbender told him to put aside his feelings for his duty."
>>156140607It felt that way to me because they put a lot more emphasis on technique. Katara struggles a ton early on until she gets the scroll to start learning proper forms and then she's fully off to the races once she has a master. It paints a pretty clear picture of how hard bending is supposed to be to just rawdog even for someone with immense talent like Katara.
>>156139293Surprisingly pretty divisive. Granted there's going to be shills and people who have no standards but outside that people are pretty ho hum about it which is a far cry from TLOK which even at its lowest moments still had retards defending it whereas with SH the only people praising it are pedos.
>>156140744You're arguing against yourself because you're talking about mastery. No one is saying these people are masters. Katara literally had no one to teach her but herself and yet she can bend water. Toddler Korra's most impressive feat is the earthbending I guess, and then again it's not like she bends a mountain.
>>156140676It's not one guy, it's every Avatar prior to Korra started with their natural element, then learned the others. The whole fucking point of Korra's introduction was to demonstrate that she was a crazy natural even among avatars by figuring out multiple elements all on her own. But now we have Pavi and Nisha bending multiple elements as toddlers too because that's just how bending works now.
>>156140402That’s normal though. How is bending any different from moving your arms and legs? You won’t need someone to teach you how to move. You just do it on your own.
>>156140772>ery Avatar prior to Korra started with their natural element, then learned the otherAnd no one is saying otherwise retard but you're saying it like you have to learn the forms and train before you can even attempt the bend when that has never been the case. There so many random earthbenders in the first two books that very clearly live normal lives and don't train are you going to say its some plothole that they can bend?
>>156140772No the point was ‘shit we can’t do the toy test in the water tribe. How do we show the discovery of the new avatar? I know have her bend all the elements, except air so that we have a reason for her to go to republic city and since aang didn’t have to find a teacher for that one’. It had nothing to do with glazing her.
>>156140696Not really. Pretty weak handwaving that just because Aang went into the Avatar State before he had the ability to do so at will means nothing, it's still utilizing the Avatar State. Not to mention you're overlooking that the Avatar State is also the Avatar's primary weakness. Which should come as no shock since they didn't want him overusing it to solve all his problems, and it was even taken out of commission by Azula (who momentarily killed him to boot) and unlocked again by happenstance when Ozai knocked Aang back against a rock that just happened to hit the chakra point that Azula had struck. The funny thing is I doubt many would argue that Aang can't pick up actively using elements (different again from mastering them) because he always COULD generate them. The ability was there, even if tapping into it is another matter. This doesn't negate that using Avatar State moments is completely torpedoing your case because it's a condition in which he can draw knowledge of his past lives and exceed his own knowledge and skill limitations. He's literally using other people's knowledge to do things he normally can't.At the same time it's a silly hill for you to choose to die on. Korra may have busted out multiple elements when she was basically a toddler, but she still didn't have them all. Even when, yes, an Avatar might display elemental control without training, it's NOT A GIVEN. Hell, I wouldn't go so far as to say they were just stupid prior to Korra. It's more that they were raised in isolation and tended to stick to their people's element. The nations being more insular was a plot point. It was more open in Aang's time, but still existed. By Korra the people of the nations were very free to move and intermingle. Less pressure to stick only to your particular culture.
>>156140787>And no one is saying otherwise retard Literally the guy above you is saying bending is as natural as moving and breathing. If that's the case how could Aang, Roku, etc. not know they were the Avatar from super early on? How could the tradition of waiting until the avatar was 16 to reveal their nature ever become a thing since all of them would naturally discover it before then?
>>156140829>If that's the case how could Aang, Roku, etc. not know they were the Avatar from super early on?They never tried
>>156140783You're evolved to use your arms and legs, to the extent that even if you're missing them your brain will feel phantom sensations as if the limb is still there. Quite a lot of movement is also automatic. You don't consciously load balance your body as you move, all the calculations are done under the hood. The brain even does "simulations" of potential problems while navigating around a room so your body can react without thinking if, for instance, you trip. It's pretty cool stuff, but definitely a lot different from manifesting extraneous physics defying abilities with your mind.
>>156140829Because they never had any reason to assume they could bend any element than their starter element
>>156140805Anon, the toy test wasn't the only method for discovering the avatar. That's just how the Air Nomads did it as a reference to Tibetan Buddhist traditions. There's a King of the Hill episode about the same thing even. Other nations had other methods.
>>156140815I like to think that Pavi and Nisha helped each other learn the elements because it's a cute moment when we see them playing with waterbending. Two people working on the elements at the same time, sharing what they've learned, and generally having fun with it could easily accelerate the process. I do shudder to think what games they made up with firebending.
>>156140841With your mind AND kung fu. Important point.
>>156140815The biggest weakness of the avatar state is that depending on how Bryke were feeling it takes a long time to access or it can be something quick like when the earth kingdom general buries Katara underground. Because realistically, Aang generate an air sphere producing hurricane level winds is not something any normal bender will overcome. So I maintain my position that it's a great argument, because again, Aang needed the Avatar State to overpower Ozai and take away his bending. So mastering the Avatar State, being able to make sure Aang can get in it in the blink of an eye and him being able to bend all elements with the combined might of all his previous lives would have made him not only the strongest bender of his time but assuming no other avatar unlocked the seven chakras, the greatest avatar ever, period. But back to the original point: it's a stupid argument to say that Aang is less special than the girls or that bending is easier or changed from ATLA because the girls bend multiple elements. These things are all stipulations of the show. Airbenders are supposed to be spiritual, Aang is an airbending master and yet he says he knows nothing about spirituality. Why would he need to see statues of past avatars for him to realize the Avatar state is the combined power of his past lives? ATLA is a journey of a boy mastering the four elements. Both Korra and Seven Havens are going on different angles - thus the switch to the girls being able to bend, in a rudimentary way I should add, the other elements. And none being masters of even their original element at 12. Like you wanna talk about snowflakes? The shit Kyoshi and Yangchen are able to do is something Korra, Pavi and Nisha can only dream of. Stuff that would cause Aang to have nightmares knowing he can wield such power.
>>156140838Bingo! And simply trying blindly doesn't guarantee results either. Bending isn't just thinking "I wanna shoot fire" and punching. Bending depends a lot on the appropriate mindset too. Bending is about both mind and motion. Things have to align just right to bend accidentally.
>>156140917That's a retarded thought, because then people wouldn't ever discover they are benders. And remember, every single style has an animal/celestial object that is the foundation of that particular bending style. Things that can't speak and tell people to assume a certain stance or mindset to bend. This argument is very stupid anon. You're confusing mastery with just bending. Even in Aang's time there's lots of just mediocre benders. Like Haru and his dad. Not everyone is a Toph or Azula that just woke up, got taught a little and then reached heights no one else could reach. This is a thought experiment. How would earth and fire benders find other earth and fire benders? You expect an earthbender to bend a boulder at a kid? A firebender to shoot a fireball at a kid?How did Katara, ever discover she was a waterbender with literally no one to teach her then?
>>156139504>I also think not having anyone from the old generation brings this show down by a LOT. I think one of Korra's biggest qualities were the old characters and their kidsHaving the old cast make cameos was one of the dumbest things. Lin and Su could have had 0 relationship with Toph and nothing changes with their characters. It was unnecessary and didn't add anything. It was just pandering.
I already know that with that ending the longer they take to release season 2 the more I will dislike Pavi for abandoning Nisha at her lowest point and the more I'll love Nisha. Even so...sex with Nisha and Pavi! Pavi Is getting angry correction sex though.

You don’t get to berate me about ‘lying’ if you’re just going to ignore the fact that the incident was an accident. Nisha couldn’t control what happened to her parents, but Pavi could control how she received the news. The fault of the fallout between the two sisters is on Pavi and Pavi alone.

>Asami died before the Avatar: Seven Havens series startedAren't they basically confirming that Korra is actually still alive then?
Haven't checked any threads til now... we agree that the writers gave up in the second half right? Incredibly shallow concept-focused slop. Writing started around average korra tier and ended at "The Great Divide" stretched over 120 minutes.
>>156140292The second episode of this series literally had a child not bending earth at all despite being an earthbender, so the rules of "you can't bend elements without learning first" are still there. The Avatar is just exempt of it now.
>>156141094That's just the colour of the Root chakra. In the leaked S2 storyboard you can see Nisha going full Vatuu with red eyes and violet energy beams.
I literally loved this show and the writing. I don't get what people are exploding about. I actually really enjoyed the fact Nisha killed the parents on accident. The pacing was decent too. It blended together nicely. Idk what you people want. You can't recapture your childhoods with ATLA.

Gonna ask to real questions now. What female avatar character looks best in diapers?
>>156141324I'm aware of the spoiler but that's a huge cope with the 'color of the root chakra'. Pavi's eyes were orange just like Unalog. I fully would believe If both Pavi and Nisha have a part of both Raava and Vaatu

It's a amazing what a difference it makes in perception when the dumbass emotionally immature protagonist is 9 years old instead of 17 years old.I think Pavi existing also helps a lot to balance things out.
I feel like the writers are gonna backtrack on Nisha murdering parents and go with "ohhhhhhhh they stuck in the spirit limbo so you can all be one happy family again".And I hate this. I kinda want Pavi and Nisha go full DMC mode, girly version of Dante vs Vergil
They're not going to sideline Nisha and have her job while Pavi gets all the wins...right?
APOLOGIZE TO NISHA RIGHT NOW!!!
>>156139293Better than expected still worse than Korra.
>>156141645I was always team Nisha
>>156138721They are race swapped DEI transplants
>>156140747Damn, Bryke doesn't have journo connections? What a bum.
>>156140747>confusing worldbuildingIt's as simple as a brick. The problem isn't that the worldbuilding is confusing, it's that it's inconsistent, just like the rest of the show. Characterization, plot progression, power scaling, bending skills, everything shifts whenever the plot needs it to. The story doesn't follow the established rules, instead the rules follow the story.
>>156141645She deserves hugs and positive affirmations.
i don't think they're reconciling in season 2 for the simple fact that a true avatar vs avatar fight is too good of an opportunity to miss. the unalaq fight didn't have him using all the elements and then it transitioned into a gay ass giant spirit punch on. but imagine two people that can bend all the elements going at it. but the only downside is the animation is so ass it will hit like a wet fart.
>>156141324So when Pavi has red eyes it's just the root chakra. If Nisha has red eyes it must be Vaatu. Only Pavi is allowed to unlock chakras.
>>156138873Pavi is a big fat liar, what else is new.
>>156141804The same studio makes Dragon Stiker and it blows SH animations out of the water. If it really comes down to budget we can only hope that Paramount pulls their head out of their ass and gives it a proper one, people clearly still love the franchise.
>>156141825Different kind of red eyes, my dude.
>>156141804I think they'll make up, only to fall out over something else, and this same bullshit will keep going until the show's over.>avatar vs avatar Yeah, too bad they probably don't have the guts to go all-in on that.
>>156139293I enjoy it.
>>156141838To be fair the scene isn't even done. Who knows how the endproduct looks like.

>>156141926>unknown
>>156141948Well it's as early as November RIGHT NOW
>>156141951Just wait a bit. You probably haven't watched Korra ongoing because we had almost same stuff for books 3 & 4. Except with Korra it was soft cancel, not leaks.

>>156142118maybe they're both the real avatars and the fake avatars
>>156142026I'm assuming it was before Datu went nuts. They did look cute together.
>>156142067Hopefully she CAN redeem herself
>>156141838I don't see how they could logically get to this point Karthik has been a good guy arguably the nicest of the bunch. He has seen Pavi do this so he wouldn't misunderstand. Plus giant pull of evil energy is word of god said to be from Nisha's original crash out. So where the fuck did they get a second one?
>>156139520The wall is also made of rock..
We don't really know shit about the dark avatar so it'd probably be more interesting to follow her story. Maybe this chakra state nonsense is a dark avatar thingy for ex. It'd make more sense than explaining why in a gorillion avatar lives no one else did that
>>156141948>>156141951>>156141998>>156142072maybe im schizo, but didn't they first announce this as a 26 episode season that was gonna release all in one go? I was under the impression that they decided to split it up into two 13 episode seasons pretty recently and that S2 is basically already ready to go.
If Nisha is to be a good girl we need an unalaq redemption arc.How would (You) redeem unalaq, /co/?
>>156140373yes we did, everyone agreed the red lotus moments were awesome, even the biggest haters admited that. The finale was shit and s4 was as bad as s2 though, and thus any hype that was died down immediately
>>156142162you arent schizo, season 2 is basically finished. i have no idea why they would just let it sit in the studio for 1 year or more
>>156142162Originally yes. However at the same time it probably wasn't going to come out in october. October 9th was the date the Animated movie was suppose to come out but it got moved up after the leak. Presumably this pushed season 1 out before season 2 was fully cooked. Not to mention the audience was against dumping it all at once. Which is probably why we got this three episodes a week thing.
>>156142149Maybe he figures out that sucking up all that energy in her body hurts her or turns her nuts like Korra. He wouldn't turn against the Avatar without a damn good reason.
>>156142042I don't get why Pavi blames Nisha at all. She says "How could you do that to them?" when the memory clearly shows that it was an accident and that Nisha wasn't in control of herself. If they reconcile later with Pavi being all "I realize now that our parents were trying to abandon you and that their deaths were an accident you didn't intend," that would be annoying. Contrived drama from an avoidable misunderstanding.
>>156142156>gorillian90*
I miss the political complexities of korra
>>156142247>fascism is when your village isn't being raped by bandits>t. Zi
>>156142247This. If Korra was an adult dealing with the same political issues and antagonists, the series would be so much better.
I just want less spirits asspulls, but it’s all they do now. Every since Korra S2, it’s contrived spirit shit after contrived spirit shit. I need a list of rules explaining exactly how all spiritt related stuff works and I need it pronto.
>>156142247people misunderstand unalaq in my opinionthey act like he was this theobro trying to establish authoritarian control to keep his tribe's traditional beliefs in power, some super radtrad dude, but in reality his religious ideology was the opposite of the traditional religious beliefs of the entire avatar world, and rather than a defender of order he wanted complete chaos and revolutionary change not just of the political status quo but of literally everything.he was in practice seeking some form of spiritual revolution to get rid of every single established power and tradition to give power to the opposite of the traditional and religious worldview of his world.he's less like an ayatollah enforcing Islamic rule in an Islamic county and more like a satanist wanting to overthrow every religion in the world to establish rule by demons he's far more revolutionary than zaheer
>>156142247Capitalism stays winning.
Aangbros lost.

>>156138337>My paternal instincts whenever someone’s makes Nisha sad.
Too many sad Nishas in the last episodes.
>>156142405I hated her guts until the last episode, but then she turned into the woobie underdog, so she got all my support now. Even if she Korra-junior
Has someone working links to the previously leaked storyboards (from around a month ago)? I would like to compare, which ones appeared in season 1 and which ones we are yet to see.
>hates her sister for killing their parents>makes no mention of their parents abandoning a literal nine-year oldare pavi/nisha's parents the worst parents ever?
>>156142516they're 9 now her parents abandoned her when she was even younger
What rating would this need?
>>156139293Its hurt significantly by the producers insisting on making the show "second screen compatible" or whatever. Basically, they've completely abandoned the pretext of "show don't tell" and all of the dialogue, especially in the first half is so ham-fisted and dull, so that someone on their phone still knows what's going on, at the expense of any subtlety and actual good dialogue
>>156142554how did the dark avatar even get all 4 elements? unalaq could only bend water and energy
>>1561425664 elements is shit Wan came up with, Raava never told him to do that.
>>156142563the show's meant for nine-year olds
>>156142598So was ATLA. That's no excuse for it to be garbage. Kids deserve kino too.
how will everyone react when this happens?
Portable sports
>>156142598so was the orginial, yet iroh didnt have to tell the watchers that he was beyond disappointed in zuko when he betrayed him, one look was enough. if that was avatar seven havens, we all know what would have happened
>>156142598I mean from the corporate perspective maybe. But they know damn well that the majority of their viewers are adult nostalgia watchers who were fans of ATLA or LOK.ATLA was made for kids too. When I was on my flight yesterday, I threw an episode on the screen cause it was available, and goddamn, it is like a night and day difference in the quality of the writing and dialogue. Its literally all shows and films coming out nowadays, not a unique problem to this.
>>156142598This show is meant for childless Californian women working as cartoon writersAnd Bryke
Yeah nah, FUCK NISHAI am team PaviNisha lied and ruined everything (AGAIN)
>>156142598>daddy, why did that woman throw that man off that spot and into the red goo? Is he alright?
What if... The power rangers get seasons where one of them's the main focus, and the other three are sort of sidelined except for a few lines and fights, or as plot devices.Like, we got Jae this season. We'll get Daemin next. Then Lan. Then Uki. See what I did there?
>Karthik knocks the dust off of Kayoko’s pussy and forces her to be in wheelchair for a couple of daysHow does the show change?
>>156142627Some months (years) ago Matt Daemon said that new shows are written with smartphones in mind. That they expect viewers to not pay attention and have to repeat sentences multiple times to make sure everyone can still follow the plot.
>>156142669only daemin will get any relevance, no one gives a single shit about lan or uki
>Your sister constantly berates you for trying to find your missing parents>Refuses to let you help the existential threat that is going to destroy your home because "she doesn't want you to see it">Turns out she actually killed them, and also was the person who permanently disfigured you (even if unintentionally)>Knew about it the whole time and kept it from you>You only found out by accident, she was never going to tell you. Gee why is Pavi being so unreasonable? why didn't she just forgive her immediately?
>>156139787That seems to be the direction thry are gonna go. Nisha contributed and mattered but she will have imposter syndrome because Pavi did most of the real work.
>>156142677I hate normies so fucking much. They're driving up the price of everything, they made my protein powder double in price because they can't lose weight without GLP-1s, and now they're ruining my shows just because studios care more about the opinions of people too stupid to pirate shows for free.
>>156142701>no one gives a shit aboutas of now.
>>156139964>and dropping some nuggets of wisdom like Iroh does. To me, a character like him is what SH is sorely missing.AgamAlso I agree with everything you said. Idk why people are so unwilling to fairly assess the show. Its still a great show.
>Thanks Ulan, it's a good thing we conscripted you 11 episodes ago, and that Lan managed to recruit you into to the mutiny!>Damn, he's kind of cracked for being 10 years old, taking out all those mooks who were giving even the HUMAN WHIRLWIND trouble...Was it good writing?
>>156142669I'd rather want Shilpa and Hamka than Jae's squad to be honest
>>156142542I should be the one doing that to Korra
>>156142705>why aren't you excited about finding more about the parents that abandoned you as much as meeee??>Nisha is afraid Pavi will drop her if she learns the truth>Pavi promises Nisha that she'll be with her no matter what>Nisha is proven rightGee.
>>156142750Forgot moving picrel
>>156142750>his mother wanted him to weave baskets though, and isn't freedom the most important thing?

>>156142759Shouldn't have broke that twin promise
>>156142750It could've been an easy fix. Have the envoys help subdue the White Lotus, and have Ulan take the mooks by surprise and everyone else leaps into action instead of standing around watching him.
>>156140402I dont get where people got the impression that you need training to br able to do bending AT ALL, when the series since episode one with Katara makes it clear it is a genetic spiritual gift you are born with, and training is about being able to use it effectively, not simply do it.Its like people watched Bitter Work and is rewrote their brain chemistry into thinking Aang struggling with Earth is how everyone is with bending in general. Its "Master The Elements" not "Learn the elements".
>>156142776Jae is already a slut>lets daemin get all close and personal while he is dating datu>yeshe could have literally had her way with him
>>156142778Pavi breaks it too.
>>156142614That's one indian Nisha.
>>156141838Something serious must had happened to make her lose control like that. Which one is the next chakra? Could it be the new crystal shot him and he blabbered something to the girls? Is guilt the next on line? If it is, what could it be?:A) His meddling separated both girls (an intentional meddling). Would be neat if under some twisted sense of justice fron White Lotus to lead the Avatar he resorted to coercion or some underhanded shit to get his hands on Nisha.B) Somehow it is revealed their parents survived but he sent them far away to keep Nisha for his White Lotus agenda. Bonus points if he noticed Pavi under those rocks too but "left her" behind on purpose.C) Parents survived but left both of them and Pavi behind to nab Nisha. Bonus points if they died but could have survived had he helped them. He chose not to help her family to "lead" an Avatar without any other strings attached to her.D) Basically same as C) but he "finishes" off their parents right there in cold blood
>>156142816feather montain plot will just be jae trying to nicely tell yeshe that he is gay
>>156142816Don't forget Karthik, his broad-shouldered personal hero gay awakening whom Datu resembles a younger version of.

>>156140039>is there a horde claiming they character assassinated Jae's boyfriendYes lmaoIt's hilarious, half of them are just mad their headcanon'd personality didn't make it in the showI admit I did think they might've had Datu change his mind on the avatar when he hesitated in attacking Nisha but with the scene of him be the first to run away in the 12th episode, it's more clear the hesitation was clearly meant to be just Datu being a pussy
>>156142566Vaatu was reborn inside Raava who had the magic of all 4 elements inside her
>>156142886datu honestly didnt even need to be in the show, just give jae a cute guy that makes it in pavis team avatar party and then build a cute slow burn romance
>>156140324Or maybe your criticisms are in fact dumb and the 9 year olds are in fact written like they are 9?
>>156142926So why isn't she resenting Pavi for being picked by her parents instead of her
>>156142926that makes no sense, yes they are 9 year old but also written by adult writers and not real 9 year olds.
>>156140772Im pretty sure thr point was moreso to communicate that she was headstrong and fully in on the idea of being the avatar and that the show wouldnt be her needing to learn about those elements since we saw that with Aang. Korra is general is written to be the opposite of Aang. We never saw the principles of Air in ATLA because Aang was already an Air master, so that is what Korra is made to learn.
pavi is a hypocrite.
>>156140772I think people created this image in their mind that learning Bending is like learning spells in Harry Potter because that sounds more familiar to them in their tropebrain, even though that isn't how the show ever portrays it. It just easier for some people to make the mental leap that its like learning a move in a videogame rather than learning to properly do a thing you can technically already doEverything else is people just making up stories and rationalizations to make that assumption sound like it was more justified than it ever was.Benders are born and always have been.
s1 of atla annihilates this slop
>>156140815The AS past lives thing was always a dumb concept that people only glaze for powerscaling vs debate reasons because at that point, the Earth General was right and needing to learn how to master the elements is a meme. Im glad 7H seems to be saving it for the end of the show and has these Charka States instead.
>>156142886Datu's third scene ever was him shitting on the brigade and people genuinely thought he and Jae wouldn't break up? The brigade that was 90% of what Jae had to live for until he joined the White Lotus.>>156142922He served the purpose of giving Jae some personal drama/stakes in stay involved with the avatar, and they were supposed to be two people with similar ideals who eventually got to a crossroads ie they both grew up with the propaganda and Datu stayed steadfast to it while Jae learned and grew past it.Really if anything they should've done more with them because other than Jae spilling spaghetti everywhere while lying to him and Datu thinking nothing to it, nothing really happened until Jae finally confronted him. They could've used them to explore the anti-avatar propaganda they existed for the children of Ellora, beyond the play where the Korra actor got beat up.

>>156142247yeah, I think I prefer when the villain to defeat is political (Fire Nation/Equalists/Red Lotus/Earth Empire) instead of spiritual (Unalaq/Anomaly). But I doubt Paramount will alow any kind of politics in cartoons nowadays

>>156142995the problem is the show itselfin Atla they mentioned they avatar typically are not told until they're 16 that they're the avatars, meaning without anyone telling them, they wouldn't bend other elements until way into adulthood.Yet both Korra and Pavi were able to figure it out on their own as toddlers.

What do you think Unalaq and Nisha will talk about? What can Unalaq teach her, after 250 years of learning to chill out?
>>156143110or maybe you need to stop clinging to atla like your life depends on it. franchises are meant to evolve and get rid of the bits in favor of ones that work better. in 300+ years, roku is the only avatar to learn that fact at age 16. 500+ years if you count kyoshi as well, but I don't remember how old she was in her first book when she went into the avatar state on her own without being told about it.
>>156142942It'll come up for sure. Wait til next season.>>156142953What kind of argument is this? You can write 9 year olds without being 9 yourself. Everyone has been 9 before.
>>156141838>more Nisha sufferingAre they just trying to make her the more loved twin? Because this season finale and giving her constant suffering is how you make her the sympathetic villain. It's just like what Karthik was talking about with the other White Lotus heads, she's fucking 9 and pushing her too hard will just turn her into what they want to avoid.
>>156143146he'll tell her to keep the spirits aroundpavi will try to banish them
>>156139056Korra taken over by Vaatu momentarily, causes the cataclysm 200 years prior, then spends the next 191 years blocking every Chakra to create the safe space havens and preventing Vaatu from ever coming to power again.Pavi thinks she's on a positive journey until we get to the Lies/Illusion Chakras when things start to get revealed.
>>156143146>There are two kinds of energy in this world, Nisha.>Yin and yang; positive and negative; feminine and masculine.>For there to be harmony, these energies need to be in balance.>Yet in homosexual relationships, one energy dominates.>This corrupts the soul, brings ruin.>It took ONE lesbian avatar to destroy the world, Nisha.>Remember that.
>>156143071>in Atla they mentioned they avatar typically are not told until they're 16 that they're the avatars, meaning without anyone telling them, they wouldn't bend other elements until way into adulthood. If you exist in a segregated world where everyone is or is not born with 1 element with next to no intermixing, why would you even try and assume that you could? Korra and especially Pavi and Nisha exist in a much more advanced world with more intermixing. Korra straight up wanted to be the Avatar since she was small so it makes sense she would try. Pavi and Nisha exist In a world where bending is inter mixed and everyone seems to have mixed ancestry. So it makes sense you wouldnt just assume 1 specific bending and just fuck around and find out.Whatsmore is there is nothing saying that the Avatars never knew before 16. Just that they were told. Many likely fucked around, saw that they could move a ocl a little, got scared and kept it to themselves like finding out what fapping is when youre 13.
>>156143213but she saw spirit korra
Unalaq was killed during his Avatar state so he won't appear as a past life. Or maybe he will. But I'd prefer if he didn't.I think they won't back down from naming Book 2 Pleasure just because it's not exactly a kid friendly title. Joy is too kiddie. But that's my opinion. I'm an ESL so while I do understand the implications of Pleasure with a capital P being kind of awkward in a kid-friendly setting I don't think it's really that bad a name. Guru Pathik did call it the Pleasure Chakra back in the day. No filters.

>>156143174I can see them trying to do a return to tradition thing if the fire avatar ever gets a show and he doesn't find out until he's at least 14 as a sort of bookends thing (Roku technically started this whole saga, the fire Avatar will end it) but yeah "they can only learn at 16 and it's physically possible otherwise" is kind of stupidly limiting.
>>156143452Less retarded more like shows pavi true nature She is 100% going to be the destroyer
>>156140353>in Aang's case, he doesn't struggle at all to waterbend to the point it's weirdAt first I was going to go with the idea that back then the nations were a lot more divided making it less likely he would have the exposure, but a big part of his backstory is how he has friends like Bumi and Kuzon from all over so he's already spent lots of time interacting with other cultures to not have even begun to do something even by accident.
>>156143468I hope. It was kind of hot when she grew ovaries, and the obvious subversion would be to give her Vaatu and Nisha Raava
I can't watch reviews of ASH because all the reviewers praised Korra and I don't trust their opinion anymore.
>>156143337>that makes it the real, right, correct avatar spirit guide instead of the evil kite loser. No it doesn't. The avatar isn't some moral platonic Jesus figure.
>>156143499quiet southerner scum, you lost the war
we need a new azula it's been ages since he had a hot evil woman in this series
>>156140448Okay, now I need to see Pavi end up in the spirit world with Kid Korra. Even if it's just a transition montage of her seeing Korra's life throughout the years.
>>156142247Amon>communistDid we watch the same show? Amon is populism. He never talks about redistributing wealth, in fact, he allies with Heroshi Sato, who was shown to be one of the richest men in republic city, and Amon has no issue with capitalism. He just hates benders
>>156143515we have ummmm.... kayoko!
>>156143515They keep redeeming the evil ones and making them sympathetic. It's horrible!
Saheli (Pavi's VA) drew teen Pavi fan art
>>156143515Here you go: Pavi.
>>156138360so manly, gross.
>>156143574I don't think the exotic dancer chic is quite appropriate
>>156143578>PaviSorry, I meant Nisha haha.
>>156141296>the writers gave up in the second halfAfter all that talk about morally grey characters then realising they need clear villains for the endgame tensions.
>>156141575Korra-tier writing. They were doing well all season
>>156141575Nisha lied about it, and that's worse
>>156143644>They were doing well all season
Why would I watch series if I can't learn anything from it?
>>156141804>a true avatar vs avatar fight is too good of an opportunity to missNisha having to talk no jutsu Pavi who is actually being corrupted by Vaatu.
>>156143185>pushing her too hard will just turn her into what they want to avoid. The writing is on the wall.
>>156143280Makes sense, neither him nor Vaatu got to visit the Lion Turtles.
Everyone keeps yammering about how Saumya didn't give Nisha a brooch but what if she had inadvertently destroyed her years ago, and Saumya gave hers to Nisha as a parting gift? How can you guys so confidently talk about Pavi and Nisha's history when all we know about them so far is a bunch of 5 second videos brought to you by the diamond of vagueposting and one flashback that's literally when they get separated. As much as I hate Pramodh for being a bum ass dad and saying heartless things about his own daughter, do none of you think about what drove him to say such things?
>>156143762And I'll love my lil' suffering retard jellybean until she gets put down by her does nothing wrong sister.
>>156143451Combined with how the memory was framed to us as the audience (and Pavi). If we (and Pavi) only saw Nisha shoot off the blast that caused the rockslide that killed the parents, without all the Nisha abandonment setup prior to it then it would've felt a bit more justified for siding with Pavi. This would've still left the unrevealed mystery of why would Nisha do that? And have Nisha herself questioning whether she is truly a monster.
>>156143280Hopefully he'll teach Nisha the waterlasso
>>156143555>tripsKayoko did kinda remind me of a post mental breakdown Azula in recovery but then when things fell apart she reverted back into her old ways.
>>156143574So she will grow to become a gigaslut
>>156143574They really love their baggy pants.
>>156143854Personally I find it wold people think their parents being killed is deserved for abandoning Nisha. Yes doing that was very sus, but that doesn't mean you deserve to die because of the same anti-christ being you fear sperging out.Nisha will worry about being a monster regardless because those were still her parents and she maimed her sister.
The mother cared more about Geet than about Nisha
>>156138729two things can be true
>>156143900>parents being killed is deservedClearly framed as an accident with all the context we were shown.Nisha might be more concerned with loosing control (further tying into the foreign lotus' words) than thinking she is a monster since from her perspective she knows it was an accident.
>>156143917literal tears from Nisha.
>>156142614I will respect this direction if they at least retcon the good versus evil angle they pushed in season 2. It isn't a bad idea to have vaatu paint the four nations as a stagnating world with no change and no innovation. The deseases that killed people a 1000 years ago still did after a millennia, etc. The world under exclusive oversight of raava stopped in time. Not sure how they can redeem Unalaq though, he was a simple 2d villain.
>>156139293If anyone wanted reconciliation between ATLA fans and LoK fans this series is going to make it difficult Pavi and Nisha are basically young Aang and young Korra respectively and they ended the season with "who was in the wrong here?" ending anywayPavi > Nisha
>>156143937I don't get your line of logic. She would obviously be worried she is a monster and ahe could lose control and hurt people again. Its like you have no concept of mind and just treat characters like pokemon.
>>156143954>he was a simple 2d villain.I sometimes wonder if you people actually watched Korra. He really wasn't. Unalaaq was right about how being severed from spirituality and traditions and junk was harming the world and causing the spirits to go wild.
>>156143969>who was in the wrong here?" endingThat clearly wasnt the idea. Thry want you to see it as both of them being understandable but flawed. You people are just immature and make everything team sports.
>>156143994I bet they're going to set them up to fight bitterly. I just know it.
>the brown gay is evil>the white gay is about to get conversion therapy and become straightseason 2 looking based?
>>156143969pavi will always be more likable to the average person. not to mention nisha is also the dark avatar what fucks her over twice
>>156144026>>the white gay is about to get conversion therapy and become straightmore like hes going to get fucked by at least 1 guy per haven to follow sokka and bolins footprints
>>156143985A few threads ago a retard here went on about how Unalaq was a "Disney villain". It's pointless talking to dumbasses that watched the show when they were three.
>>156144030Pavi seems flitty and fickle. She couldn't even remember her parents and now she's all distraught about them. The quirky rock talking schtick got old. On the other hand, Nisha fails and gets embarrassed and wants things and has things to lose.
>>156144042bro is traveling solo with a brown loli.... she isn't gonna be a virgin by the time they get to the next haven. aint no way jae will still be a faggot after that.
>>156144076Jae is a non-threatening bottom though
>>156144048I legit think they are saying this because they think he looks lkke Jafaar, and they brains turned off for the rest of the show.
>>156144076jae is not a pedophile, he is basically pavis moma.
>>156144076Just because you're a nonce doesn't mean everybody is.
>>156144094Might as well be Scar to Tonraq's Mufasa
>>156143477it would probably be pretty easy for him to assume skittering rocks, waves on water or candles going out, was all just airbending.
>>156144096>gay>not a pedophile
>>156143997I suspect they will eill cometogether but be ripped appart by misunderstanding and conflict until it reaches a boiling point.
>>156144097No, silly, she doesn't even think of you as the Avatar :^)
>>156144120>ripped appart by misunderstandingThey need to stop, misunderstanding is the worst kind of understanding. If they're gonna do this, please keep us in the dark as well.
>Pavi, my successor, you must emotionally crush your twin sister and do spiritual shit on other lands for dubious reasons
Will his cooking ever improve?
>>156144099the twins' sex appeal is the best part of the show. i assume everyone who watches this knows that .
>>156144160Some people were watching for Datu x Jae, I am told
>>156144151with barely edible ingredients found in the wastelands? hell no
>>156144151I'm sure his food is great, his ex was just lying to hurt him...
>>156144151jaes next bf better be a foodie that tells him his cooking is wonderful
>>156144176absolutely disgusting
With no more Datu or the White Lotus secret to maintain, his entire character arc next season will be becoming a master chef.
>>156144138>and do spiritual shit on other landsLol no. Her leaving is for the sole purpose of crushing Nisha even more. The other havens will turn out to be perfectly peaceful and in no need of the avatar.
>>156144190Gonna be funny, if he's now self-conscious about his cooking, but Pavi'll eat anything thrown at her so she loves it instead.
>>156144176cant believe that nothingburger relationship somehow became popular
>>156144151Not in a harshlands, he alwauys was fed by brigade. His husband needs to take a charge in cooking.
>>156144208>sole purpose of crushing NishaImma be a better avatar than you. *sticks out tongue*
>>156144136Misunderstanding is valid as long as it feels justified rather than contrived. No, TimeTravel isnt inherently bad and Amnesia isn't inherently hack writing either.
>>156143574Her VA is also an artist? That's dope
>>156143917>If we can survive the Harshlandsmessed up they acknowledge that they and Pavi might just die for nothing in all of this
>>156144227>Misunderstanding is validAs we roll our eyes waiting for the misunderstanding to be resolved. If we're kept in the dark and learn that it was a misunderstanding alongside the characters that'll be a much better feeling.Don't really have much of a problem with Time Travel nor Amnesia.
>>156141644It's Pavi's show
>>156144251Pramodh thinking it's better odds of surviving the harshlands than being near Nisha. Vaguepost King got some answering to do.
>>156144271I mean he was right
>>156144271I have to wonder how they knew Nisha is dangerous - Pavi and Nisha seem to be glued together 24/7 as kids, and Pavi was confused when they said Nisha needed help.
>>156144305Vaguepost King probably gonna reveal that Pramodh once tried to kill Nisha before but her avatar state protected her before.Failing that he tried to get the rest of his family far away from her fearing she'll retaliate. Then the vaguepost kings leaves us to wonder why he would try to kill her in the first place.
>>156144255>As we roll our eyes waiting for the misunderstanding to be resolved. You can say that about anything. It's annoying when people say "logical consequence of writing comvention" is an "argument".
>>156144332that would be absolutely goated writing choice, but i can't see it making pavi any fonder of nisha
i wonder if we get informations about s2 at the end of the year?
>>156144345Nisha is going to yell it all out at her during their epic Avatar vs Avatar fight.
Shitter screenshot but yeah I agree. It feels weird that Aang is just another past avatar now.
>>156144398To an extent we also got to know Wan though only over a short two episodes.
>>156138337
>>156138337Nisha gets panPavi gets animation.
>>156144398I wonder how much time it takes for an Avatar to become forgotten in the collective consciousness. Zseto was mentioned by the white lotus in a Korra comic but outside of them and some ancient paintings did people in Aang's era still talk about avatars like Salai or Xian?
>>156139293Yes, much better than expected in the end, and steadily built momentum. I'd call it more than the sum of its parts, the art style and animation and plot and dialogue and setting and voice acting are all mediocre or worse but the whole thing remains quite compelling overall despite that, it's quite remarkable honestly.
>>156144494Guess it depends on their impact on the world. Don't expect Korra to be forgotten anytime soon.
>>156144494people these days speak about older generations like they were bloodthirsty monsters instead of literally just people operating in society, so probably not any further back than 4. maybe a nation venerates its 'own' avatars better.
How come the pacing in modern shows is so break-neck? It can't just be the 13-episode format. You could cut down Book 1 of ATLA to 13 episodes. It would make the show worse, but the story would still be in there. And it would still develop more characters than this show, AND have more silly hijinks.Does the main plot of Seven Havens Book 1 *really* take 13 episodes to tell? With no room left over whatsoever?
>>156144712>How come the pacing in modern shows is so break-neck?People were complaining that the pacing was glacial during the first half of Seven Havens.
I don't like mean Pavi. I miss early season Pavi.
>>156144398And then in the next series Kyoshi will be pushed back to make room for Pavi.
>>156144712>You could cut down Book 1 of ATLA to 13 episodes. It would make the show worse, but the story would still be in there. And it would still develop more characters than this showI think a great deal is what you're left to sit with between episodes.Like the character development might be there but the focus of the week would end up being primarily on whatever conflict was being cliffhangered between episodes.
>>156140113identical ones, though
>>156140078>>156144764You'll get identical sons instead.
>>156144739I really thought they were going for the we can only defeat the anomaly if we're working together angle. Foreshadowed in The Storm and Night of the Aflicted, and then showing things not working out as well when they tried individually in The Envoys.Pavi getting over her fear of being outed as an avatar and joining her sister would've been nice way to end the first season. Leaving the inevitable breakup for a future season.
>>156144398Who would've thought that things change and less people are going to remembered over time? Sarcasm aside I guess it could feel kind kf surreal realizing that the aang the audience knows so well is now just another avatar spirit inside the avatar cycle, but LoK had all of this erased, so it just feels cheap with them erasing the cycle but still wanting to milk it with references
Kachori rather stale.
>>156144712ASH feels like it didnt have enough episodes to tell it's first season, but at the same time it didn't use its limited time wisely. We didnt need time filler like the pet bug or the "comedy relief" like the con artist kid or all the wannabe sokkas
>>156142247>political complexities
>>156144839Don't you know? This is the Pavi show!
>>156144839They thought they had 2 seasons so this is the half-way point.
