Is it safe to say that Marvel peaked in the 2000s now that it's been 26 years?
>>1561568071980s
>>156156807Marvel peaked as a brand in the 2000's but the comics reached a nadir that only deepened. I will say tho, the branding and marketing of prior decades has more soul at points.
>>156156807What? No. That's giga-retarded. It's the 70s. Anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't done the reading.
>>156156807Not for comics but this is the greatest Marvel vidya ever made and nothing has surpassed it since. The Blur Studio cutscenes mog all the movies, too.
Yes, only dorks say otherwise, the writing of the 80s and before is terribly dated and the art is boring.
>>156157634Jarvis, bomb this retard and make sure to use the bunkerbuster (not a suit, just a big missile with a drill on it).
>>156157634You can say the exact same thing about the 00s and it'll be more fitting.
>>156157697You’re meaning something based off 2000s era Marvel.

>>156156807Elaborate.
>>156161161>Tons of toys>Tons of merch>Movies are good>Cartoons are good>Video games are good>No politics or blatant manga pandering>Popular on YouTube (stopmotions, amv, and tributes)
>>156156807If you're a complete fucking meathead that smells of axe and has a barbwire tattoo.
>>156156807Spider-Man peaked in the 80s.X-Men peaked in the 80s.Hulk peaked in the 90s.Silver Surfer peaked in the 90s.Punisher peaked in the 2000s.Captain America peaked in the 2000s.Fantastic Four peaked in the 2010s.Guardians of the Galaxy peaked in the 2000s.Ghost Rider peaked in the 90s.Thor peaked in the 80s.Doctor Strange peaked in the 80s.Avengers peaked in the 2000s.Black Panther peaked in the 2000s.Iron Fist peaked in the 2000s.Luke Cage peaked in the 2000s somehow despite not having his own book.Iron Man peaked in the 80s.Daredevil peaked in the 80s and stayed peaked from that point onwards with only two major exceptions.
>>156156807I’m not gonna pretend it was all good but Disassembled to Siege was the last time the entire line felt like it had a consistent narrative.

>>156162298>avengers peaked in the 2000'sYou better be talking about Busiek and even then, the 80's and 70's stuff is near it.>>156158269Nice english, ESL. Jarvis (butler), send another bunker buster using the mansion computers.
>>156156895Pretty much. I enjoy Silver Age Marvel but almost everything seemed to hit in the eighties.
>>156156992The 2010s were bigger by virtue of the MCU, there was some good stuff in the 2000s but nothing earth-shattering and plenty of garbage too
>>156164165Yeah I know 2010's is the peak financially and wider in popular culture/conciousness but Idgaf. 2000's movies, the vidya, and the merch/toys were way cooler since it was more rare to see as a kid, and you'd catch reruns of the 90's toons. 80's and 90's were surely more soulful but...00's is my peak for a reason. It just sucks Quesadilla's rape squad decided to tank all of superhero comics forever.
>>156161976We didn't know how good we had it.*coughs up blood*What a life.*fucking dies*
>>156156895CALMDOWN unc
>>156162298All wrong btw
>>156156895This anon posted the truth.
>>156166264I'd say he's got three or four cases, but yeah just overall horrific taste.
>>156165050There is a YT channel that has reuploaded/archived some of old vidsif the thread is still up when I get access to my pc ill post a link
>>156166264>>156167863Refute it, then.
>>156164165>>156164205I want to agree that 2010s were bigger for Marvel as a brand but the more I thought about it I don't agreeThey did extremely well for the movies, but the movies were primarily Avengers + GOTGSpider-Man did okay in movies and Far From Home's box office outperformed the prior movies, but people have been more disenchanted with Far From Home than they were Raimi Spider-Man 3In TV shows I think Agents of SHIELD initially was popular and people liked Netflix Daredevil, but looking back it seemed like the TV shows were affected by the war between Marvel Studios and Marvel EntertainmentIn cartoons Marvel fucked most of them up and they were behind the Disney cable paywallFox's X-Men lineup had four decent or at least passable films but the rest were really badFantastic Four had a really bad movie with a really troubled productionAnd Marvel put in the effort to put a halt to X-Men merchandise while cancelling the F4 book because of the petty war with Fox. From a branding standpoint, that's pretty bad.I would say that 2010s was peak for Avengers and GOTG as brands, though.
>>156156992>Marvel peaked as a brandThe thing that matters most is the comics.
>>156169537You mean this garbage?
>>156165050>>156167996Here it is:https://www.youtube.com/@NostalgicSpider-ManArchive
>>156169574That is NOT garbage!!
>>156169574If the comics are garbage, then the brand is worthless.
>>156168194or else?
>>156156992>I will say tho, the branding and marketing of prior decades has more soul at points.Early 90's prior to the bankruptcy was peak soul. The Impel cards alone had soul to spare.
>>156156807Has marvel invented any new superhero’s as good as Spiderman or Wolverine, or hulk?
>>156172491Their last genuine breakout star that wasnt forced diversity was probably Deadpool. The problem is Marvel doesn't give writers or artists an incentive to create new, potentially popular characters if the creators don't see a dime of that while Marvel makes hundreds of millions, if not billions on the characters. Jim Starlin got more from WB for KGBeast showing up for a split second in Batman V Superman that he's ever gotten for Thanos in the MCU. Their business model as it currently exists is unsustainable, and yet they still won't introduce a decent creator royalty program, despite being the standard in publishing outside of comic books.
>>156172323Or else that anon is correct by default and you two are labeled non-reading contrarians.
>>156162317Siege felt like the conclusion to the entire line in my mind. That Heroic Age and Fear Itself era fell so flat. I basically noped out of Marvel at that point.
>>156172589Deadpool is just Spiderman
>>156172936How?
>>156156807God no.
>>156162298>Daredevil peaked in the 80s and stayed peaked from that point onwards with only two major exceptionsWhat are the exceptions? I thought that Waid's second run (the one that relaunched at #1 and had Matt in San Francisco) was complete garbage and there are significant chunks of Nocenti and Chichester that are just 'okay' (and there are a handful of issues from Nocenti that are genuinely not very good). I like the majority of his run personally, but I know that Bendis also gets a lot of flak. I also recall Diggle being viewed pretty negatively and Shadowland being a complete letdown. I think a lot of the runs post Nocenti/Chichester and pre Bendis aren't really acknolwedged or talked about much either (Kelly, JMD, and O'Neil).
>>156174731I was thinking of Diggle and Ahmed specifically. And you're right, there may be a dark period somewhere around Marvel's bankruptcy era in the 90s. I liked the brief Smith/Mack stories.
