There are a lot of people who don't seem to understand how from Book 2 onward the spirits make it real clear with Korra they're not friends and how all the shit that Korra does for them is entirely thankless. Do the spirits hate Vaatu? Yes. Would they like Korra to stop Vaatu? Yes. Are the spirits gonna reach a common ground with Korra after Vaatu is defeated? Fuck no and why would they?Avatar Wan made this clear. Spirits believe their world and the human world belongs to them because the humans went to their own dimension with the spirits hoping they'd finally start to "get it" this insufferable delusion from them how spirits need to force humans to live to their standards that they cant realistically achieve which is why Kurek and Yang Chen ruined spirit relations for centuries. >>156165735Oh I've studied Wuxiang extensively and I think it would be very different from the Hermetic triad. Earth's understanding of the elements is based on Chakras, Chi and a four-material distinction, which doesn't have to be the case in all the other planets that we saw during the Harmonic Convergence. Wuxiang translates to Five Phases, so their users are less bending elements and more manipulating (or as I like to call it, "turning") phases, like Growth (wood), Ignition (fire), Settling (earth), Refinement (metal) and Flow (water). So these alien "phase turners" would be utilizing the same notion of Chi but applying it as a transformative property. Like, a Woodturner induces growth, he makes things grow (a morning wood joke may be made here). a Fireturner or a Waterturner are not Firebenders or Waterbenders. They deal with refinement, and all sorts of amalgams, such as polymers. What the Wuxiang fails to account for is Air, which is undoubtedly the most spiritual bending type, even without the Nomadic roots of its users. It's the fourth Chakra, the last one before the higher Chakras. And based on whether Air is treated as a pivot to all or a part of the set, you get either Turning or Bending, respectively.
