>First series is a masterpiece>Everything since then has been absolute dogshit>We never saw what was going to happen in book 4What went wrong?
>>156175304>Everything since then has been absolute dogshit Wrong.
We already have a thread for this OP.Besides, Airbender has plenty of flaws to it. Like how Ozai reaches a level of one dimensional behavior where you basically have to turn your brain off after awhile. Ozai is fun in a YEAH DESTRUCTION kind of way but his depth as a villain is basically if you gave Beavis actual fire powers.
>>156175304Book 2 > Book 1 > Book 3 take it up with the Spirit World
>>156175957>his depth as a villain is basically if you gave Beavis actual fire powers Lol damn, that is such a perfect and succinct way to put it
>>156175939Nope
>>156175957He's an evil genocidal dictator who's there to show some people can't be reasoned with, not everyone can be Zuko or even Azula. Otherwise you get the diamonds in steven universe. It was already kinda an ass pull to just take away his bending, he doesn't need more dimensions.
>>156175957I hate complex redeemable villains. They should just let villains be villains again
>>156177516>It was already kinda an ass pull to just take away his bending,Honestly this is one of those things that you can just handwave as being broadcast on a childrens entertainment channel. Like, if it were ATLA by hans christian andersen, that fuckers extra dead and theres an entire paragraph on how brutal it is, but this is the ATLA disney movie.
>>156175304>First series is a masterpiecelmao no
>>156175304>First series is a masterpiece
>>156175957Ozai lost his aura as the show went on, in book one he is a cold an ruthless emperor in flames in book 3 he is a psycho who weasel his way into the throne.
>>156175304The comics are true garbage Korra is enjoyable but heavily flawed (mainly in the structure of the story) Seven Havens so far is really good plot wise but the animation is bad (at least it's not "Invincible" levels of awful...) The Avatar Books are decent to really good
>>156178428I hear only the Kyoshi books are good. As for the comics, Azula in the Spirit Temple has its defenders. I might read that one.
>>156175957I think Ozai works almost perfectly for the role he's in. He's not some complex villain, he's legitimately just a schemer with his own personal ambitions that happened to be born in the right time. He didn't feel any particular way towards the war, it's just been going on since his grandfather's time, it's his regular reality. All he really did was cover his brother's spot, and when he had the chance he took it, and everything after that was just him going with the flow while enjoying being king. He has no real personal beef with Aang, he's not complex or sad, he doesn't really give a shit about the war beyond his personal legacy. He's just a guy, and that makes him a stronger symbol as the main bad guy that Aang needs to take down because it's very true to real life, because often opposing figures in war don't even really know each other, they're just doing what they're supposed to for their side. I don't know, I personally thought it was a neat way to go about it.
>>156177516To add, AtLA is interesting in who they allow sympathy towards, and I don't think it's unreasonable. It goes out of its way to show you that most Fire Nation people are normal human beings who aren't pure evil. The villains it shows any sympathy towards are literal teenagers, like Jet and Azula. Ozai isn't given any of that. He's a grown man, a tragic backstory or family issues doesn't matter to someone who's done that much damage. Same for a ladder climber like Zhao.
>>156175957>>156177152>If [VILLAIN] does [VILLAIN THINGS] this means he's not LE COMPLEX
>>156178782That is correct, cope and seethe about it.
>>156177516Aang removing his bending powers was never an asspull. The show went out of its way to show there were different type of powers besides the 4 elements. Firebenders managing thunder, earth benders managing metal and water benders managing blood are some examples of that. Spirits themselves show they had powers that were not bending and Aang was warned he shouldn't die in avatar state because it would damage the link between the avatars. In season 4 we we're supposed to see the consequences of Aang removing Ozay's bending with his powers starting to make a change in his personality and making him more aggressive. Meaning this would have been a power with a hard cap of use to it. But we we're robbed of that because of Korrashit coming and destroying the entire worldbuilding of the show.
>>156178804Bad people exist in the real world, sorry if your favorite replacement for a father figure groomed you with a shit opinion son.
>>156178863>Bad people exist in the real worldYeah and they're just as boring.Let me guess, you're one of those "muh realism" shitters who look at 4k DLSS ai slop and goes "waow looks so good, look at how realistic it is! that's the only thing that matters!"Let me tell you something, kid. You'll outgrow it eventually.
>>156178965Goalpost moved. You changed your language from "this character is one dimensional" to this "character is boring". You not liking an evil character because you lack a personality and very likely being a korratard doesn't mean the character is badly done. Try next time with another subjective non-argument not given to you by your e-boyfriend.
>>156175304book 4?
>>156179210The series was planned to have a fourth season (book 4) in which different mysteries of the series were going to be resolved, and other characters would complete their arc. Like Azula having a redemption arc. But also with the main characters see >>156178852 and pic related. Maybe I will post more info later.
>>156179197>You changed your language from "this character is one dimensional" to this "character is boring". You know both things can be true at the same time, right?Being one dimensional is what makes him boring.
>>156177516>It was already kinda an ass pull to just take away his bending,It was, and the consequences of that are never explored. Aang ripped his soul apart but oh, nothing ever happens!
>>156178604>As for the comics, Azula in the Spirit Temple has its defenders.I don't know why, it is still torturing her as a character and it goes nowhere in terms of development. It was sad to read.
>>156175304They kicked out Aaron Ehasz
>>156175957You just read the wiki, huh? Ozai isn't God's gift to literature or anything, but he makes sense. He's an imperialist dictator who inherited the throne in a forever race war where your race gives you magical powers so he decides to use the once in a century power up only his race gets (that they already used to genocide one of the four races) to genocide the remaining race that's proven to be almost undefeatable over the last 100 years, leaving only a handful of the only other race left who can be easily steamrolled, leaving only his race left to inherit the world with his family already considered their rightful rulers.
>>156178804> Bu-bu-but muh apologetic Zionist propaganda as a fail safe for when we lose powerNo.
>>156179261Ehasz is a hack.
>>156179848cry harder korracuck
>>156179306Calling a character one dimensional includes a poorly done and artificial characterization. If the character reflects the personality of real evil people from the real world, then the characterization is not artificial, is just merely not to your liking. I know this is hard to understand to you because your groomer gives you already-made opinions but try to keep up Timmy. Adults don't have any reason to tolerate your idiocy.
>>156179967I don't like Korra, but I did watch The Dragging Plots
>>156180018Why are you so upset? There's no need to seethe and shart your burning butt blasts all over the place just because someone called Ozai a one dimensional evil guy, sheesh.
>>156180053I explained why you're wrong. This is called an argument. One day when your groomer stops giving you opinions you may know how to make one too.
>>156179647Lesbos/dykes/yuritards hate women in secret. They're secretly envious of other women especially if they're more talented, pretty or smart. Since Azula was one of the most atractive and talented girls in the series but did bad things she doesn't deserve redemption. Instead she deserves constant scorn (unless you're Korra).
>>156180083No you're just having a schizo babble meltdown about some groomer or something, there's no argument in sight. This is why it's important to take your meds.
>>156180042It was drowning in DEIsm
>>156180120It's true, all roots in hate when it comes to her, sadly
>>156180179Insane. Because besides being sex incarnate she is also one of the best antagonists of the series. I feel like without her Zoku and Aang wouldn't have really grow as much as they did.
>>156180193GYAD DDAAMNN look at that massive fucking norwooding 5head nogginshe's at norwood 2 at 14 years old alreadygrim
>>156180193She is way better than Zuko in all aspects if you ask me.
>>156180232Her DSLs are fit to suck off an avatar
>>156180193>>156180232these are literally 2 different peoplewhat the fuck lolthis is some steven universe tier off model shit
>>156179833you're brown
>>156180219Still more sex appeal than Korra.>>156180232I appreciate Zoku for being a hard worker. Other shitty characters would have given up and remain seething against their sister forever. Instead he tried to become stronger and not just remain envious. In the planned season 4 he would have help her becoming less mental.
>>156179812Well-put. When you put it that way the guy was more compelling than you would think at first glance. He had a plan and it was working very well.
>>156180415I think one of the main things that throws people off (and one of the reasons that TLA is so good) is that Ozai is an institutional villain. He leads the faction, yeah, but unlike Shredder or Megatron or Cobra Commander or whatever other cartoon villain you'd care to name his interests aren't just himself and maybe a handful of mooks - he has an entire empire of people under him. He's a final boss and actually acts like it.
>>156180494That already puts him above 90% of villains I would say. Even "dark and mature" shows tend to have villains that act very one note or pretend to do everything by themselves. However in reality someone like Ozay wouldn't be able to build his empire alone. He needs the compliance of an entire country but not of every single individual. Dissidents and rebels get suppressed or exiled and the rest are incentivized to keep the line. Generals, engineers, not to forget the cowardice of other nations like Earth Kingdom. Through most of the story he is not even the person chasing Aang, but all the other loyal members of his nation. ...I guess this show is really well-written after all, damn.
>>156175304not the same writers
>>156180309Do you have more Azula pics Anon?
>>156182522I have some but I still need to organize all the screenshots directly from episodes
>>156183072I hope you can post them at some point
>>156175957It works if you realize the Fire Nation royal family probably had a lot of incest resulting in mental issues, that's why they abducted a nonbender peasant girl for Ozai under the excuse that she's Roku's daughter
>>156175304the entire series is overrated
>>156183175They didn't, they probably had many concubines. They are not the Austrias anon.
>>156178428>>156178604LoK is garbage and so are the books.
