i was talking about the venture bros and this came up: when jj was inside rusty he was conscious but not only was he conscious he was also aware of what was happenning outside as he immediately recognized brock even thoo he never saw him before. There are other signs like how easily he got his doctorate and learnt supersience that you could dismiss as jj was just smart but the fact that he knew brock is evidence that he either had access to rustys memories or senses.Thing is in the episode when he has to arch the monarch jj has no idea who the monarch is calling him mister evergreen on a floating pinecone and sure maybe jj didnt always pay attention, maybe he forgot a couple things but he wouldnt forget the monarch, not after all the kidnappings and murder attempts. It doesnt add up
>>156185821You ever not cared about something so hard you forget everything about it?
He had subliminal knowledge. Brock was a close colleague. The monarch was just one of the crazy costumed people who always try to kill him. He was also taking the diet pills to suppress his anxiety. Might have messed up his perception and might have lead to him finally choosing to escape.
>>156185821I always chalked it up to the learning bed giving both clones the original rusty's memories, but you have a point about Brock. are we sure he recognized him? I mean he did attack him, something he wouldn't do if he knew Brock for shit. Brock's unbeatable, but he can be tricked, and has been several times.
>>156185821Given he has Rusty's memories as well could be just like Rusty, JJ doesn't really think about the Monarch compared to every other costumed villain that showed up on the front porch He probably got lost in the midst of the various other ones
>>156186635that really is one of the funniest things about the show, the dynamic between those two.. one completely obsessed, the other giving zero fucks, barely seeing him as more than an annoyance. and when the coyote actually catches the fucking roadrunner, he doesn't even enjoy it.
>>156185821I wept when JJ passed...
>>156185821Since Rusty is a clone did all the Rusty clones have a JJ inside them?
>>156188163Maybe some of 'em.
I know the hint is dropped, but is it ever definitively established that Doc is a clone?
>>156188163My theory is that JJ was supposed to be a personality thing for Jonas to take over Rusty's body in the invent he died but Rusty is such a failure that his body mutated and made the back up personality another person
>>156189085YesHelper 2 made that clear and they straight up say it in the movie
>>156188163Jonas built the cloner, so I kinda imagined it functioned as unethically as possible, like it was originally designed to produce twins and terminate one embryo to feed to the other like in Metal Gear Solid.
>>156188163Pretty sure that was one of the fuck ups Jonas' original cloner had. IIRC, when Ben is first introduced, the stuff he lists of that Dean DOESN'T have matches with JJ's body.
>>156189967Except for his mention of the science word for huge eyebrows, which Monarch has.
It's worth remembering that JJ was a tiny little man bearing the brunt of every recreational drug Rusty and his raver's metabolism were ingesting. Every Monarch encounter was probably immediately followed by some cocktails, alcohol and/or otherwise. Some Brock exposure was just nice pancake breakfasts or whatever.
