Are Russian manga-inspired comics /co/?
>>156193033I mean...there's no fundamental difference between this and say Serenity or Empowered
>>156193033Hm... Depends, how far east in Russia was it made?
>>156193033A Jojo knock-off?
depends on whether you think western russia (where most russians live) is in europe or asia>>156193963yeah, not only are there「STAND」s, but the author is using japanese for the sound effect thingies. i'm liking how it's starting out with just school-related bullshit where he uses his stand on regular ass people like part 4. the english translation is posted on mangadex.
>>156193033If it doesn't come from japan then it's /co/
>>156194715manhwa and manhua is /co/?
>>156194757Yes as /a/ won't allow them to be talked about unless they have an anime Though manhwa and manhua are too boring for most to care about anyways
>>156194757Manhwa Is just a pariah on 4chan in general as neither /co/ nor /a/ want anything to do with it.
>>156194757No. It is not Western origin nor is it Japanese origin.
>>156194824It's a samurai pizza cats situationMade in japan but has more relevance with /co/
>>156194757Slop that shouldn't be posted about
>>156193033Russia isn't a western society. All of west has had Russia sanctioned. Its not even west part of europe>>156194757Manwhack breaks /co/'s number one rule. Always report it
Isn't it illegal for you to post your Russian work here? Sucks to live there
>>156193033I mean we've talked about soviet animation before I don't see why not
>>156194860Stfu, fagtard
>>156194800i had no idea! that's surprising to me. in my head, manhwa, manhua and manga are all sort of in the same pile, even if they're all very different.>Though manhwa and manhua are too boring for most to care about anywayspersonally, i find most comedy-oriented manhwa way funnier than comedy-oriented manga. a lot of the time in manga the joke is just>look at the boobies haha aren't boobies funnywhile manhwa tends to be more slapsticki think korean and chinese GL comics are better than japanese ones, whereas i prefer japanese BL. the action comics are roughly equivalent imo. i've been reading this one called hand jumper on webtoon and it's kino>>156194811>>156194824>>156194854this is so fucking sad...>>156194860understood. checks out
>>156193033It's interesting that Russia has a large animation legacy but it's comics didn't have much of a history.
>>156193963I've got mixed feelings on this, on the one hand I've become more aware how much Japanese media has been inspired by JoJo, not just Part 3 but in general, and while I'm not a fan of blatant examples I usually don't mind.Conversely this and DIESEL somehow just feel egregious, I guess because instead of just being inspired or a parody it's unapologetically a lift.Which I can't speak for Araki, but given how his inspirations gradually developed into what everyone finds so beloved I can't help but feel he'd find it a step down to chiefly stencil something instead of integrate it.
>>156193033I thought Major Grom was Russia's only comic
>>156194959Well, after reading Manga, Manhwa, and Manhua, I can say they are very different if you get below the surface. If you boil those mediums to it's basics, Manga is escapism, Manhwa is melodrama, and Manhua is bit tricky because they were published in different regions, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, now a part of China.
>>156194695Hичeгó ceбé!
>>156193033Honestly I respect it more than when an American does something like this cause at least they're ripping off a popular current anime.
>>156194695Surprised I haven't heard about this before. Is the English translation released at a glacial pace or super far behind or something? I'd usually expect European comics to just never get translated and because of that build no audience online.
>>156193033OEL manga is /co/. Someone did a storytime about twilight knockoff comic from Tokyopop.
>>156196175Or should I say, ORL (original russian language) manga.
>>156196129it's caught up with the raws, but the translations got dumped all at once like a week and a half ago. they were also cross-posted to mangadex
>>156196214>it's caught up with the raws, but the translations got dumped all at onceWow that fucking sucks. Big dumps like that really make it hard to build an audience. At least there is translations. Maybe it'll catch on eventually.
>>156194811a truer statement hasn't been spoken
>>156193033>>156194695What's this even called? I'm trying to do research on this.
>>156197313Filename says Moscow Calling!, add "Manga" to the search and it should pop up.
>>156194849>Made in japan but has more relevance with /co/No fuck offDubbed anime is still animeA heavily changed western cartoon in Japan is still a western cartoon at the end of the day
>>156197442And now that I've skimmed search results myself I see an alternate name was JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Moscow Calling, so I think the reason this is just JoJo is because it's fanwork.Under that lens it technically is more /a/ than /co/ as the intent is to actually branch from manga, rather than western work inspired by it.
