the original argument about women in fridges is that the woman in question usually has no character, no backstory, and is rarely ever brought up again after they die
whereas male characters usually have full developed characters before they die

uncle ben is one of the only actual male characters who get fridged, existing only for a single issue, dying, and doing little else other than being a totally swell foster parent to get sad over before they die
whereas such characters are far more commonplace with women characters

so yeah, women care about men dying because they tend to have more emotional depth when they die in fiction

These are the same "people" who reject the idea of extending the draft to women.

another day, another made up word from feminist normies we are all meant to pretend is real

>another day, another made up word from feminist normies
anon, Gail Simone is an industry veteran, she has worked on the Red Sonja comics for a while, you can't dismiss someone who's been in comics for a damn long time.
>>
>>156211059
Yeah you can.

Comics have been shit a damn long time

What's it called when Kamala sinks anything she's featured in?

What a weird worldview.

How dare you, you've never HEARD of fridging?
>>
>>156210725
The only example off the top of my head isn't even /co/, Joel and Ellie from LOU2.
Otherwise... Does Katana and her dead husband count? Ryuko and her dad from Kill La Kill maybe, but that's still not /co/.

People get killed for dramatic tension all the time in fiction
It is frequently a woman because the main character is a heterosexual man and cares about that woman in a way that is relatable to nearly 98% of the human race
I always saw this argument as an autist's objection to character drama and not a legit feminist critique of male writing
>>
>>156210765
Ah, so not Jean Grey, a well developed character with lots of backstory who is brought up time and time again after she dies?

The husband in the Babadook was fridged

Gail Simone is a hack. I can dismiss her the same way I can dismiss Slott, Gaiman, or any other hypocritical faggot that thinks they are an authority on what comics are.

She looks like she knows her way around a fridge.

>Now he’s feeling sad about something.

Bitch, she was his friend and he loved her—not to mention that he was forced to kill her to save the world.
It’s because of things like this that female characters written by women will never be popular.

Gail's Sonja smelled like an open sewer and bought slaves for sex.

Fridging only applies to women. When men die, it's because all men are rapists and deserve it.
>>
>>156210907
All words are made up fool
>>
Fridging is a stupid concept. Supporting characters get killed off all the time for the sake of the main character to have something to react to. Who gives a shit if it's a woman or not?
>>
It feels like some people are trying to deconstruct old ideas and coin new terms without very much thought or research into a subject they aren't truly passionate about. All in an effort to "make their mark" and justify the degree they got in college.

>>156210640

I find the concept interesting because the perception that it happens mostly to women in male-lead media implies that women-lead media, presumably made by and for women, does not typically deal with the death of a loved one as a source of drama.
>>
>>156212022
Women will watch a thing called Batman,Superman, Spider-Man, Conan and get mad that the female side character isn't the hero of the story.
>>

I just did faggot

>the original argument about women in fridges is that the woman in question usually has no character, no backstory, and is rarely ever brought up again after they die
No it wasn't. Read Gail Simone's actual site. https://www.lby3.com/wir/
She just came up with a list of random bad things that had happened to women in comics. No scientific process, no argument.
>>
I love that in the MCU, Bullseye put a girlfriend on the fridge

>how dare men care about women so much that her death motivates him this is heckin sexist!!
There is no way to spin this complaint that isn't wickedly bad faith

Women are too self centered for something like that. It's why most of them make bad GFs, wives and moms.
