Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that the sequel was objectively bad and is an inferior version of the first movie?

It's so bad it killed Zootopia as a setting for me. Where am I meant to daydream waking up in now?

No, we can't agree on that, because that's factually wrong.

Then you might have a mental issue that needs working on. You are a fucking twat apparently. Zootopia 2 did a phenomenal job of adding to what the city was.

Not at all, it's an impressive movie both in story and visuals. You're pulled into the world instantly and given some really, really great characters throughout.

That's a pretty stupid personal problem of yours.

Both movies are bad. Judy and Nick and their chemistry are the only good thing. If you watch the movies, its because of them.

It is just a side-grade to an average film. I did enjoy some of the new environments, side characters and shots at Judy's ass. But I didn't like how they handled the emotional bits, the police aspect and the twist villain. I couldn't stop laughing and thinking "What did they mean by this?" when they revealed it was another twist villain.

They're fine but it is still Disney's by-the-manual archetypes and acting that I've seen a million times.

>That's a pretty stupid personal problem of yours.
Sorry, I can't take Nick and Judy's sad moment seriously when the movie itself basically mocks some of better moments of the last film and then later the writers start explaining to the audience what they're going through by having them give monologues about how they care for each other in a pseudo-psychological speech. It comes off as fun and stupid rather than emotional and cute.

>Who was handled extremely well.
He wasn't. If anything, pushing an anti-discrimination message by discriminating one of the universe's species was funny as fuck.

>You have autism

Not really. You complaining about the acting is especially bizarre, because it's really not.

It doesn't do that at all. You really are a fucking idiot.

> start explaining to the audience what they're going through by having them give monologues about how they care for each other in a pseudo-psychological speech. It comes off as fun and stupid rather than emotional and cute.
You miss the whole point of the movie and the scene. So that's not on the movie, that's actually a failure of you and you being too dumb to pick up on that. Are you even out of grade school?

>>
>>156214594
Objectively it was a good 7/10 sequel.

It wasn't EXCELLENT sequel, because it missed the mark in some things people expect from a good sequel.
>Characters/Releationships
Whiles Judy's and Nick's chemistry is great its exactly the same as the first movie, it didn't evolve, the romance options was just teased more, which isn't evolving relationship

>Continuity errors
-Missing Judy's leg injury at the natural history museum was a big letdown, Nick bandaging that up was so meaningful originally.
-Why does the whole city knows that Nick is a "crook" hustler, how would anyone buy into his hustles if he were as infamous?
-What happened to all the wolf, tiger and polar bear officers that were there on Nick's first day at the ending of Zootopia1, why is suddenly Nick the only named predator officer seen in the entire movie?

>Story
The story was solid fun mystery, though there could've been things done better with maybe a less obvious twist villain. There are a lot of Pawbert fans out there, because he was somewhat cute, but now he is pretty irredeemable, so if Disney would try to redeem him/bring him back it would feel unsatisfying.

>Worldbuilding
Most of my friends think this is the part that Zootopia suffered the most, because they liked the only-mammal worldbuilding, and making reptiles talking people too made the setting a too generic cartoon world. They chose to make zootopia an only mammal city to not muddy the message, and Z2 then muddies that message and buried 10 years of fandom work of trying to expand the universe. Many artists with hundreds of chapters of fanfics just quit over this, because suddenly their characters that say things like "everymammal" that is a cutesy wordbuilding element, suddenly sound like anti-raptile racist assholes. But I personally can ignore that, the setting is still salvagable

But birds need to be wildlife in Zootopia 3 otherwise there is no functioning eco-system on the planet of this setting, breaking the immersion

>>156215903
Yeah, mammals being the only sapients while fish, bugs and everything else was a regular animal was a tidy explanation for "What do they eat?". I don't like that being changed.
Also I really can't buy dolphins and to a lesser extent walruses being part of this society, you need legs to do shit man. How are you meeting anyone or doing trade or surviving wars?
>>
>>156216009
The walruses and dolhpins are fine, because they aren't really a foodsource for anyone. The ocean is massive. If Zootopia's planet is similar to ours and is covered 70% in water, I can buy Walruses and Dolphins having their own specialized underwater cities, same way there are bunny cities like BunnyBurrow. Imagine them like the Gungans on Naboo. And I think the movie did a good job showing the Marsh Market as a fishing town as one example of the ocean and land interacting. Irl that's where you would go to buy fish in bulk too. It's logical that waterfolk are better at catching fish than any land mammal. And try to conduct war on the ocean, it takes one Blue Whale to jump on your ship to sink it. So I think land mammals are pretty incentivised to leave the ocean-folk alone.

Bit more upset about reptiles, there was this really cool prehistory fanfic called "Rabbit Clan's Fox" where the bronze age society largely survived by hunting lizards, and making clothes from lizard skin and eating lizard meat. I mean, what did mongooses eat if not snakes? But maybe the ecosystem and food-chain can still work with only birds being wild-life. But if not even birds are wild beings, the jungles and forests of zootopia are ruled by giant spiders and giant snails...
>>
>>156215903
>It wasn't EXCELLENT
It WAS an excellent sequel.

1. Not a big deal, easily could've been removed after the arrest, etc, etc.
2.Why wouldn't they know? Nick's part of the big story, there's going to be info about him getting out especially as he goes into being a cop. It's all about the news. Use your brain.
3.They're still there, just because you don't see them on screen doesn't mean they're suddenly gone. Fucking use your head, holy hell.

>Most of my friends think this is the part that Zootopia suffered the most,
Your friends are idiots then.
> and making reptiles talking people too made the setting a too generic cartoon world
Oh okay, that confirms it then, your friends are fucktards and so are you.

>Objectively
There's no such thing.
>Inferior version
I think so, but at the same time the original movie was a lightning in a bottle that cannot really be organically created, considering the amount of setbacks and remakes it got.
The version we got probably got assfucked to hell several times, even not including the fact it was a cop movie. Change in directors and writers and just disney shit. You can see from many storyboards the story kept changing, but unlike Z1 they didn't manage to capture the same lightning.
youtube.com/watch?v=XYQuIWFcBdQ
And also unlike the first one, they had enough trust to put it out the door rather than the final version having people coming down to fix the movie.
Test groups probably had a bit of a hand on it too, like removing the version where they would topple the Lynx guy statue to put the Snake woman in its place.

>>156214660
Compared to Z1 obsession with keeping shit like different size mammals, different species specific things, etc, most the movie did was make the pipes for water mammals. Reptile stuff (the secret bar, the district) felt way less inspired compared to the rest of the city personally, yeah less screentime but the rat town/ice town/hot town were all just superficial exploration but you kinda got that the artists kept adding more details to sell it as a 'this city has tons of different animals living in it'.
>>
>>156216093
Maybe you're just a moron that gets hung up on shit and then tries to claim it ruins the movie.

Disney is the master of unsatisfying, so maybe that's what will happen. Personally I think he'll just join the sheep girl in being a butt of jokes/two-bit villain for attractions/merch.

Yeah, it was kind of a weird direction, I remember thinking Zootopia was pretty masterful in the art of restraint whereas Beastars and other series kind of lost its plot once everything and everyone was sapient.
