Tried to manually decensor a recent Uno Makoto pic.Surprisingly, I found the edges of the shaft to be more difficult to restore than the veiny, detailed parts, and they ended up pretty rough if you look where the bars used to be, but perfectly following the shading from the surrounding areas is beyond my skill.

If the Hidarikiki anon is here, what exact procedure do you use to decensor those works that have semi-transparent bars? I found some Uno Makoto pics where they're not completely opaque so I wanna see if I can clean some of them.

There were a few that needed extra work cause he layered something wrong, but using GIMP the vast majority went like this:First, lasso select the edges of the bar. Having one that lets you click points only and draw the lines automatically makes a huge differenceSecond, brighten the area with Colors -> Levels or equivalent. If there's a solid color like a background that goes underneath, check how close you are with the color picker.And then third, I just used the paintbrush and painted over the feathering, CONSTANTLY re-picking the color from a few pixels adjacent. Blend color first, then do your best to draw smooth lines after.I've checked out Uno before and gave it some thought but I haven't taken it on yet cause first only a limited range is workable, late 2019 to late 2023 which is about page 2 to 20 I think of the panda Fantia gallery. But more importantly, the bars are tiny, cross over a lot more complex shading, half of them are sketches, and there's gotta be at least 5 times as many bars on average. It's doable, but you just need time and patience, and a lot of it, so I say pick your favorites instead of going on an autism quest for all of them, which you seem to already be doing at least.

You're seeing the color banding I mentioned though, unfortunately the combo of dark bar plus JPEG crust crunches the gradient pretty badly. Most of the time I left it as it was, but for the really bad instances I hit it with a very light and carefully placed guassian blur in large areas of only color, definitely no lines. It's annoying but that's just how it is, pixel perfect recovery isn't possible so just blend that last 5% as best you can.
