I've heard/read so sporadically across the years. I think it has to do with how greasy though the Mexican equivalent, chicharrones, doesn't sem to have such rep in Mexic itself.

I am also somewhat fond of the 2nd one, but with some conditions (I prefer it when it's a child shrunk with a parent or aunt, and when it feels like it might be arguably little disproportionate for what they actually did).
