>Only 10% the space of a regular fridge, still uses half the power or more.Post inefficient appliances that shouldn't exist.
Basically every time I've ever seen one of those, they're on someone else's power bill. A dorm room, an office etc.
>>2987943I'm not posting a picture of my wife, anon... Nice try.
space consumption is an aspect of efficiency
>>2987943they would have more room if they put the compressor under, on top of, or behind the unit.
>>2987943>still uses half the power or more.A standard fridge uses about 5 amps max.small ones like that you 1 amp max.so 1/5 the power.
>>2987953A chevy tahoe with a 1 gallon gas tank vs 40 gallon doesn't use less gass just needs to fill up every mile. Hope my analogy works for you
>>2987943Maintaining cool air uses the same energy in an insulated space.
>>2987963space is smaller so easier to cool.
Your complaints are valid but it lets me have cold drinks in my garage/shop, where a full-size fridge would be impractical, so it's worth it to me.
>>2987946>thanks for playing fact hunt
>>2987943cause its a peltier coolerthere exists cooling cycle noisy mini fridges tho
>>2987994every dorm fridge ive had was a regular compressor/refrigerant system
>>2987943Should be we toast bread on a heat pump?

I worked for a small appliance manufacturer, not going to tell you which one, and about once every two or three years we got a complaint about our >1W vampire current draw. Out of about a million units sold every year.
>>2987945Yep, that was me. Had a cheap peltier type fridge under my desk at the office. My employer, a top law firm, was incredibly rich so I didn't care about the electric use and doubt they would have either.
Samsung claims their AI fridge makes peltier cooling efficient in a hybrid construct.https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-unveils-new-refrigerators-with-innovative-ai-hybrid-cooling-technology-at-ces-2025
>>2987953Yeah this is silly. They’re way cheaper to run. >>2987943If you somehow got a messed up one just attach $5 of insulation to the outside.
My 20 cubic foot LG LTCS20020S is running between 50 and 60 watts for a total of around 0.75kwh a day. If it didn't have to defrost it would probably be around 0.5kwh a day.
