I have a feeling in the future houses "decorated" with solar panels like this with complete disregard towards looks will be a mark of an impoverished area
>>2989366no dumb ass the future of houses is solar panels made in the shape of roof tiles.https://getpuresolar.com/solar-roofing-tiles-innovative-photovoltaic-solutions-for-modern-homes/
>>2989376>what is reading comprehension
>>2989366just like that game cyberpunk, where cheap cars have a DIY solar panel on top>>2989376>poor people can afford anything
Better than graffiti
>>2989417>*sprays graffiti over solar*
>>2989366thats probably true. solar panels are free energy after costs, and the negative externalities of producing a solar panel are confined to shitholes like China and India. The cheaper they get, the more subsidies they offer consumers, the more commonplace they will be.
I have a feeling that there is at least 20-30 million luddites in this world who first learned about solar in like 2005. They looked at the cost of panels then, looked at the cost of electricity then, and then 20 years later they still spout the same ancient facts over and fucking over day after day on any online presence they have acting so adamant that they know something and everyone else is wrong. If you look at the data, since 2006, solar has dropped in price by 90%, while electricity costs at least in the US on average rose 73% form 11¢/kw to 19¢/kwToday right now this minute, if you own a property, and you DON'T have solar on it, THAT in itself is a mark of impovershment. You'd have to be fucking retarded not to.
>>2989505I'm rich so I don't give a fuck about the price of electricity. Your argument is invalid.
>>2989549Good for you
>>2989550Thanks. I'm not actually rich by the way, just making a point.
>>2989549One of my buddies is at 3mil total comp and bitches endlessly about his power costing 1200 a month and he even has solar lol
>>2989566>his power costing 1200 a month and he even has solar lowhat in the fuck is he doing? if he charges his e-car at home, fine. but if not, how would anyone have a bill like that?
>>2989505At this point you need solar in the next 5-10 years because the power company isn't making enough money to keep the lines working. Everyone is going to need their own enclaves
>>2989589Shit you're right. The moment they realize they can get away with dismantling powerlines that are expensive to maintain (plus all the copper is delicious especially at current copper prices) they will do it. It may take a bit of nudging grid connected customers by hiking the electicity costs but nothing too impossible>but how will they make money without grid usersThey'll find a way. Not having to maintain power lines will already make them quite happy
>>2989376I feel like small tiles would be an excuse to reuse defective panels but the real houses will get full size ones like this picture.
>>29895682 evs, massive house, hot cliamate, and lives in middle of nowhere so every drive is like 20 miles
>>2989592That won't happen for 15+ years. It will just become inconsistent. More public safety power shutoffs. Until we get to a point where we have power every other day like in the developing world
>>2989592In my city the phone company wanted to get rid of all of their pots lines because it was too costly to maintain.Last I checked they were at $1200 a month
>>2989686The city taxes them on every pair of wire in the ground working or not
>>2989686In my city, telco uses pots for lifeline service for elderly. The minute they replace it with fiber, broadband becomes "available" along that street. And every sperglord gamer wants service.>>2989687Simple. Telco installs above ground. In fact, they were stringing some copper pair cables near me a few weeks ago. But maybe to replace the cable that meth addicts cut down.
>>2989592>but how will they make money without grid usersAll the AI data centers will be built right next to the power plants. No need to transport the electricity anyhwere.
>>2989366I have a feeling in the future houses "decorated" with skylight windows like this with complete disregard towards looks will be a mark of an impoverished area. These people can’t even afford a light bulb, let alone the electricity to power it. Sad.
>>2989549no you are not
>>2989366That's a political opinion not a/diy/ inquiry.
>>2989704>data centers siphoning off all the electricity right from the nipple leaving fuck all for the population GENIUS
>>2989505why would you want to have solar panels on your house if your power company will most likely have integrated grid solar into their energy mix?
>>2990517>being cucked by the power companyjust make your own electricity. photovoltaik already is very cheap. will only get cheaper per watt in the future.throw some cheap battery into the mix and you can be independant
>>2989384the irony. maybe you need to increase your reading comprehension.
>>2989505I'm having solar installed. it will cost about $52,000 it would be $30,000 but I am having 2 tesla powerwalls installed. musk sucks ass though.
>>2989549except that solar is popular in rich neighborhoods. the richer they are the more solar. it is status symbol now.
>>2989566My electric bill is never more than $440 in the summer, and I don't even try to conserve electricity.
>>2989589my city is installing tesla Megapacks.
>>2989709my neighborhood was built in the 90's many houses have sun tunnels. they were quite popular back then.
>>2990517because when trump starts a war with china and the grid is damaged or knocked out. I will still have electricity.>>2990534>cheappic related
they already do
>>2991056>Bumping your own shit thread after ten days Get a hobby
>>2989505>If you look at the data, since 2006, solar has dropped in price by 90%Yes, for the panels. The electrical tie-in, the wiring, and the labor to have it installed have eaten away at or counteracted whatever savings you get from the reduction in cost of the panels. So it hasn't changed much in total cost unless you're doing DIY or small off-grid for a shed.Batteries to store the power you are collecting also have only marginally come down in cost.
>>2991060Wasn't me.
>>2992125>>2991066>>2991056You've now been seething for 17 Days.
>>2989366Nah in the near future you will need a permit to install them and half of the electricity generated will have to go to data centres.
>>2990606>they were quite popular back then.Could you blame them? Various media made them look cool as shit.
>>2989366topkek>>2989376Speak for yourself. The future of electricity generation for my house in the country is an Archimedes screw under an artificial lake (don't even need a really big one, more of a puddle) with a straight 4 meter drop,
>>2989376>solar panels made in the shape of roof tiles. That wont help Americans. We can't afford durable roofs as it is so we use asphalt shingles instead.
>>2989549what's you income and net worth?
>>2992618>>2992125>>2991066>>2991056You've been seething & samefagging for 20 days now
>>2992678Seething bout what exactly?
>>2992678keep coping.
>>2992487I miss that type of architecture. Feels awesome when I enter a house that is still looking like this. Many got completely reshaped over the last 30-40 years.
desu this is the worst design i have ever seen
>>2989366Oh, cool thread, here's a bump.
>>2990607>I will still have electricityno, i will have electricity. don't want to give me it? i'll simply burn your house down
