im looking at mining jobs in nevada and will likely get put on night shift as a noobie. do hotels out there accomodate for workers who need to check in at 6am to sleep and check out around 6pm? or do they expect us to pay for two nights? >i know i wont be getting that much sleep, but its an example of the odd hours i would need to utilize the hotel

another question. when youre obscenely tired, would it be that hard to sleep on a mattress in the back of a (white aluminum) campershell in a truck parked under the sun? should be in the 80's most days but could reach 100's in the high desertlack of shower is probably another issue as well.will i be harassed by police/security by parking on the side of rural highways 5miles outside the mining property?
>>2991114>>2991116i did two 2 week (14x15hr on 5am-8pm, 14 days off) shifts at a little gypsum mine in northern nv and they put me up in a unit in a something that looked like an old drive in motel in the little company town. it was just a mattress and nightstand and only medium disgustingly filthy. there was one bar in town to eat at and a kinda company store quickiemart. i was rebuilding crusher chutes and millwrong shit so would be fucking greasy and sweaty and coated in dirt even under coveralls and tired as a shithouse mouse. just enough energy to eat a plate of fried bar food go back shower and pass out. the hardest part was the 14 hr drive home after the 2 wk shift in a stiff spring t300 kw shop truck. usually have to stop 3 or 4 times in bfe and sleep some. only took 2 shifts of it to say no more. i was 27 and it paid $150/hr+perdeim in pre kungflu zimbabwe bucks but it aged me about 3 yrs worth in a month and a half
metabo router for 329 but comes with a batteryflex router for 299 but comes with a batteryDeWalt for 495 but comes with plungerorozito for $199 but it's a plunge router and has no battery but I already have a few batteries.it's mainly for building a few desks, I don't know how much I'll use it but seeing as I can do dados and whatnot with a plunge router I'm inclined towards the ozito or DeWalt? I don't have a table saw

i have stationary bike related and want to place it on a roofdeck, meaning up a flight of stairs and a short ladder. it would be easy if i could remove the wheel, which i think must be around 50 pounds.i have not been able to remove the wheel. i think perhaps the bolt is reverse threaded. i've stripped it out. my new plan is use j-b weld to stick an allen wrench in there and possibly bang it with a mallet. i've never used j-b weld before. will this work?
I picked up an old antique desk that used to be a store front display, its from the 1930s, solid wood.its in okay condition, many layers of paint. the table surface is bare.im gonna hit it with a sander to remove the flaking paint where needed. What can I paint the tabletop with to make it resistant to chemicals and/or durable?also what kind of paint can i use over the existing painted and areas that had flaking paint sanded off?
>>2991248>What can I paint the tabletop with to make it resistant to chemicals and/or durable?nah senpai you don't want paint on it. hit it with a coat of polyx oil and it will last for literally ever. make sure to get it super well prepared though also despite what anyone says you can't paint over paint and have a good surface, just not how it works
>>2991249>you can't paint over paintwell im not stripping the whole thing and some parts are gonna be bare after sanding the flaking paintwhat do?
Why does a 1 7/8" trailer ball even exist?
>>2991272>why do trailer balls even exist?
My car's paint is going to shit and I might be inheriting a massive house that needs to be painted. Can I get a spray gun or something for both of these tasks? Idc if I have to spend $1000 on a compressor and air tank (maybe even more) + whatever the attachment costs. I just want to be able to paint the house in a reasonable amount of time, and paint my car a new color whenever I feel like......How does changing the color work? Do I have to tell the DMV every time I change color?
>>2991275Mkay but I specifically asked why a certain size ball exists.
>>2991272>Why does a 1 7/8" trailer ball even exist?To fit 1-7/8" trailer tongue couplings
>>2991277>Can I get a spray gun or something for both of these tasks? You 'can' but the best tool for one is not the best tool for the other.HVLP to paint the car.Airless to paint the house.
>>2991281I feel like we got a communication breakdown here...
>>2991255why not? you're not hand sanding it are you? should be like a weekend project including the first coat of polyx.
>>29912771. Get hytech ceramic additive for the house paint. Helps insulate and reduce energy bills2. Painting cars is extremely difficult. You will need to make a paint booth with plastic that can enclose the car and provide filtered air. You also need to remove a bunch of trim. Ideally paint it the same color it already was or it's probably going to look weird.>DMVWho gives a fuck about those extortionists.
My wall is breaking.I was thinking about fixing it but it's corner.I think I just need to build it back bigger and then get it to shape with grinder?
If I buy sanding pistol can I just sand in my yard or will my neighbors complain about sand flying in their yard?
>>2991241No, JB weld is not strong at all and will break on the first hit. The bolt is almost certainly reverse threaded, they almost always are on bikes like this. Just get a friend to help you carry it up the stairs, retard. For the ladder, use a rope and have the guy at the bottom stabilise it.

i often try to turn on my laptop after ~12hrs of no use and it is completely dead. it is a cheap used thinkpad with windows 10.battery life is good as i can use the laptop for a solid four hours before battery drains so wtf?this never happened with my previous windows 8 or earlier laptops. sometimes when i would just shut the laptop it might lose 5 or 10% charge over the course of 24hrs, but now if i close my laptop without doing complete/proper shut down then the laptop is dead within 8-12hrs. do i need to adjust some sort of setting so the laptop stops consuming power once the laptop has been folded close, or after ~30min of inactivity? is this a windows10 issue or a default settings issue? halp
i never really drive in the snow ever and im parked off a dirt road and its snowing over, maybe an inch of snow. weather report says its gonna turn into rain. will this make for an icy road? im driving a 2wd truck on bald hwy tires ...at least its a manual if that helps. does that help?its a pretty wide road on a somewhat mild incline, i just dont wanna end up driving off the road :p
>>2991317is there nothing else? could it be soldered?
i left my laptop on a ryobi 150w charger + 4ah battery for a couple hours and it drained the ryobi battery two bars and the laptop got warm but did not charge at all. what gives? laptop only turned on when i plugged it jnto a jackery 300w powerbank. the charger is currently pulling 11w, but iirc will usually pull about 35-40w. thinkpad laptop is currently at 0% battery but at least it turned on.the ryobi charger has previously worked fine to charge the laptop, i am not sure what has changed. i prefer not to use it when plugged in becuase the usb-c ports are so fragile. i imagine when the battery on this laptop finally dies, the laptop will be trash /sigh
>>2991363>if i close my laptop without doing complete/proper shut down then the laptop is dead within 8-12hrs.It should be going into sleep or hibernation mode depending on how you have the settings for "close lid"Hibernation doesn't draw power but Sleep does.If your battery is losing capacity it may not have enough power to last more than the hours you've mentioned.Set it to hibernate instead of sleep.https://www.notebookcheck.net/When-to-sleep-hibernate-or-shut-down-your-Windows-laptop.1023907.0.html
>>2991373>i left my laptop on a ryobi 150w charger + 4ah battery for a couple hoursHow do you connect a Ryobi charger to your laptop?
>>2991378i forgot the pici left laptop plugged into jackery 300w power bank for an hour and its only pulling about 5 to 10 watts.i just opened laptop and turned it on and battery is still at 0% but now the laptop is pulling 20to40watts.... now down to 10-15watts after boot up.any idea whats going on? i am sitting in the back of a truck in the snow :/perhaps battery is having trouble charging due to temp?afaik the temp is in the low 40's. i thought snow only fell in 32 or below, hmmm, how about that. super cute stuff.
>>2990159I did, and this is the only documentation it has. Cleaning the filter is easy. I can't remove it from the wall.Do I spray foam cleaner and spray water on the outside to clean it? As for the front, I cant remove the panel, but I've ran compressed air inside and I've wiped it down as much as I could. Not sure what else I can do to eliminate a fishy smell and get get the temps down.
>>2991363Like other anon said make sure it goes into hibernation, not sleep. Sleep pauses the system state and keeps it on. Hibernation saves it to storage and powers off.>>2991384Snow is a definitely a factor. It's also probably a shitty modified sine wave. I don't understand the purpose of that product desu.
>>2991385Fishy smell? Probably mildew or mold. Try spraying it down with vinegar to break up and kill that stuff, then rinse with soap and water.
>>2991387>Try spraying it down with vinegar to break up and kill that stuff, then rinse with soap and water. All on the outside coils? Also what kind of vinegar (does it matter)?
>>2991372No. Either borrow a welder, or just find a friend to help you lift it.
>>2991384>i thought snow only fell in 32 or below,You're seeing ground temp. The clouds where the snow is forming are much colder. In my experience and in my area, when it's about to snow it usually begins at 35° F.That's cool enough for it to reach the ground and not melt immediately. The snow starts collecting on the grass and forms an insulation layer for the rest of the snow falling. If it's snowing hard the collecting snow will chill the air allowing it to stay and buildup.
>>2991384>i left laptop plugged into jackery 300w power bank for an hour and its only pulling about 5 to 10 watts.>i just opened laptop and turned it on and battery is still at 0%Sounds like time for a new battery.
does this imply battery suddenly shit the bed sometime in the past 12hours? i tried the lenovo/thinkpad hard reset, still wont charge. and iirc at somepoint my laptop bag got a decent whack against the truck while shifting things around. possible loose connection?
>>2991384>sitting in the back of a truck in the snowcold can reduce the battery performance. The battery's computer will disable charging if it detects any conditions are unsafe for it to be charged, like being too hot or cold. Low 40s is probably too low. Let it warm up in room temperature for like 12 hours and try again. It's important to give it plenty of time because batteries are dense in matter and take forever to adjust, and we don't want condensation in the computer while it is powered on. Don't let it get this cold again cuz extreme temperatures fuck up the battery chemistry Check power settings to make sure it is configured to go to sleep when closing the lid. Install the latest drivers and firmware from the manufaturer. This might be a known issue and the updates might fix it. I notice a lot of newer computers (besides macs) kinda suck at their sleep power consumption now days, so it might just be poor design on the manufacturer's part. Most computers now days are lucky to make it 3 days in sleep.Otherwise check the battery's health. In Windows this can be done by opening power shell and running powercfg /batteryreport and then opening the file it displays. I usually swap out batteries once they get to 60-65% healthFinally if the battery health is good (~70% or more of design capacity), open the computer, unplug the battery and plug it back in. If still nah, I'd be looking at a replacement battery at this point
>>2991359so mostly ignore what I was saying, I thought I was in a different thread on a different board and was giving you advice based on aesthetic . polyu will be less porous than polyx and a good choice for inertness. remember thin coats and let it dry way longer than you'd expect unless the humidity is low. id random Orbital the top for a bit.that said you could use a chemical paint stirpper but idk how bad if at all it will fuck the wood up
buying a new hardhatlooking at the studson shk-1 full brimthoughts on colour? was thinking of light blue
>>29914000% (not charging) normally means a "bad battery." In your case you drew it to 0% then the cold dropped it even more. Warm up the battery room temp or in your coat and the voltage will rise enough for the PC to think it's safe to charge.
>>2991364>does that help?it does, actually when you feel her begin to slip, downshift and hit the gasyou'll stay on the road
>>2991384>let's take a 19v recycled lithium battery, invert it, then smps that back into 19v dcgood shit
>>2991359i bought oil based outdoor spru polyurethane sanding it nowshould i stain it first, or leave it natural?i got barn red and ipswich pine

>>2991278for smaller shit you retarded faggot>why do people use less material when the larger ones are better and more sturdyto save money, you double retarded faggot.
>>2991315That looks like just stucco / spackle formed into a corner. There's no edge trim. If you just want it to look nice, remove the broken section, replace with [insert material here], sand it. it doesn't look load bearing or structural so honestly id chip it out. I assume it's interior, so spackle will work fine. If its high traffic and takes a lot of hits, you can install a corner bead before you cover it up.
>>2991275>>2991281>>2991283I use them on my small low-speed stuff pulled around the yard by the 4-wheeler. That way some fucktard might think twice about hooking it to a vehicle and blasting down the hwy with it...

>>2991657If I was planning on doing a lot of house painting id splurge on one of those graco airless sprayers that you stick into a 5 gallon bucket of paint.

Capacity, Chrome: $14.99>>2991672That makes sense.
>>2991657airless sprayer for paint.also remember that the paint is only as good as the surface. if it's not a new build you must spend 90 percent of your time sanding
>>2991657Airless sprayers pull product straight out of the bucket and put in on the wall. I've ran 5 gal of primer in an hour. The only downsides are that sprayers will drop paint dust, the paint will drift and vignette other surfaces if you don't mask, it takes almost a pint of product to even prime the gun, and airless shoots slightly lower quality than cabinet grade. It's perfect for ceilings and when a house is empty. Don't even waste time with the handheld sprayer with hopper.
>>2991675YOU are missing the point, self-centered retard. It saves the manufacturer's money at scale, since they can make 1000 shitty products instead of 900 less shitty products, or whatever % material they save. Final price often has very little to do with actual value of materials and more to do with logistics, labor, and what the market will bear. Using it as scale for whether something should exist or not is retarded.
Does it make any sense to change the shower to the other side in a basic bathroom like this? My mom is getting her bathroom renoed and the guy told her>he'd flip the shower head so the toilet doesnt get in her way>cast iron pipes were just floating there>shower head switch will be behind the water heater/ac closetShe's letting him do whatever tf he wants since she just wants it to work, he even mentioned he'd use leftover tile he had from previous work for the shower. The shower never drained properly and it leaked into the wall so he'll fix that too, but it doesnt make sense. Idk if I'm retarded, my mom doesnt care but I've had my own weird ass corner walkin shower in my apartment that I dont know if it makes sense.
>>2991696IDGI. You mean flip it from the left wall onto the right wall? Then you'd either have to clamber over the toilet to get in, or if you didn't move the door, water would spray onto the floor any time the door's open.
>>2991696>dude mentions he'll use leftovers from previous jobs>mom just nods in agreementimma be honest, both of those people sound like retards.>so the toilet doesnt get in her wayhow is the toilet getting in the way? think about it
>>2991699Yea, like the shower would be on the right so she'd just step in. It'll be a walk in shower without the curb, but now that I'm writing this, I think he's doing that because her current shower has a drain on the other end rather than underneath your feet so if it was kept like that he'd have to move to the drain.>>2991700Bro I asked her if she had any ideas or like dream tile or some shit and she said no. And about the toilet, the last place I lived in had the shower opposite the toilet but all the pics I've found have it on the toilet side like my mom's in the pic so idk. Maybe he meant in an elderly way. Or it's the drain thing
my dishwasher is broken. the cycle starts but it doesn't fill with water. if I open the door mid cycle it feels humid inside, and at some points I can hear the sink gurgling, but there's no water at all. I checked the floater and it isn't stuck. what else could be wrong with it?
>>2991749Pull off the side panel and watch the water flow into it. Sounds like it's getting stuck and being drained off.
>>2991753how do I do that? do I have to pull it out from under the counter? I had to move it once before when the recirculation pump broke.
>>2991754Find the manual for your model, and yeah, you'll have to pull it out. I assume the "floater" you're talking about is the flood protection one in the pan underneath it? There should be another one in the side chamber that can get gunked up too.
>>2991755you could also check on how to enter diag mode and display any error codes. might spit out something informative
>>2991203would go wired as much as possible for consistent routing. also, buy once cry once- buy the best you can afford
>>2991238by loosening the wingnut, the support bar lowers and the wheel comes in contact with the ground. thus the exerciser ends up no longer stationery.
>>2991330kek.
>>2991657Use rollers and back brush it. Rent a sprayer to the trim before the walls. For a great finish you will spend 70% of your time sanding and filling, 20% prepping and masking, 5% painting and 5% cleaning up.
>>2991696he has leftover tile that just happens to match what your mom specified? other than that, it could be helpful for her to not reach over toilet to turn on water
>>2991779the battery models are no good? seems like everyone is battery now for their routers, unless you go for the real cry once pricing (but $1000 on a router is kinda wack to me)

I need something to cut out couple of fairly small square holes, maybe 50x20mm, onto what I believe to be steel plates about 2mm thick on my computer case so I can cable manage. I've been thinking bout getting something like picrel but all the ones I found seem to be for polishing or sanding anyone here knows if it'd cut through or if there is any better way of achieving such holes? I do also have an angle grinder but that will most likely get very messy
I am trying to buy a new dishwasher using my good boy points at work.I am avoiding anything with wifi. these cunts have cancelled my 3rd order saying the product is not in stock, yet it remains on their website available to order. fucking hell.I am running out of non-wifi enabled dishwashers to choose fromI am currently looking at a Whirlpool, Maytag and LGLDFN3432TWDTA50SAKZMDB4949SKZLooks like the Maytag and Whirpool are the same except where their controls are placed.which of the 3 is the lesser evil?

i just bought one of these to keep in the car, but i am also learning that the high temps in the car will destroy any batteries i also keep in the car. whats the solution here? i also keep flashlights and a cellphone (to use with obdii scanner) with lio batteries, and those seem to work fine. i know my car gets left in the sun and gets hot af in my moderate climate area, but sometimes i take it to sunny, hot-as-shit environments for days at a time as well. what do?
>>2991842could be differences in insulation thickness ...cut it open to find out.
>>2991850I figured it out. Bigger one is 2/0 AWG and the smaller one is 2 AWG
>>2991849I have one of the handheld ones. I keep it in my truck with one battery and even bought one for my mom to keep in her car. I've worked and lived in southern Arizona. I have about 7 Ryobi batteries, all are fine and haven't failed me thus far. I never left all of them in my truck all day except for that one. Just used it about a week ago to air up my lawn mower tires.I think severe cold is what will really kill batteries like that. Most definitely do leave them in the open sun. But you should be fine.
>>2991864>Most definitely do leave them in the open sun.I mean DON'T leave them in the open sun.
why wouldn't this work
>>2991870Try it bro you got this. Do the research and report back
>>2991849I think low temp bricks the ryo tool batteries. I have a 6 port charger and go through 2-3 cells every other year. I don't have any data for you. The last time I looked up this stuff, I remember it said draining the batteries entirely is very hard on them. So don't store them drained or run every last ounce out of one.
uggghhhhh i have people using my tools doing work for me and they always drain the batteries to a stop, then keep trying to push more power to it. thank god theyre not storing the batteries for me as well. my gf runs all her device batteries to zero then waits till next time she needs to use them to charge them.
One side of the garage door cable snapped off a month ago, and now the garage door no longer opens. Is it possible to replace the cable myself, and can I open the open the door manually without endangering myself? I know I should've taken care of as soon as that cable snapped off, but I'm just looking to see if I can do anything about it.
I live in a country with long cold winters. About 50 feet from our main house we have a small 2 bedroom sleep cabin with a bathroom. The sleep cabin is not insulated and I need to drain the pipes every fall before winter.I want to add a shower, but I need a solution for hot water. Is pic rel a decent idea? My plan would be to remove the hot water tank every fall when I drain the pipes and store it in the main house. Is 2.5 gallons enough for 2 people to shower in the morning?
>>2991843my man, a strong breath will cut through a pc caseif you have a drill just drill through it and then file the rest out>>2991906>10 litres for 2 people to showerget wet and scrub off, maybe, but no more than that

My new house in NE PA only has electric baseboard heat currently and our heating bills this first winter were insane. I'm looking at options for something more efficient moving forward. We don't have any existing ducts so Central air/heat pump are probably out of the picture. So I'm trying to decide between mini splits or window units that have both AC and heat. I know that both of these options lose efficiency when it gets colder than 35-40 degrees, and stop entirely around 0-5F, so we would still need to fall back to baseboards during cold snaps. My impression is that Mini splits would be better overall, but the cost to have an HVACbro install one is a bit too much. While there are pre-charged units like the Mr Cool that I could DIY, I heard they are absolute garbage tier and will fail after a couple years. So I'm wondering how good Window heat pump units are, since they would be much easier to just throw into a few rooms. Have any of you used these before? There seem to be extremely limited options... Only a couple manufacturers even carry them and there must be some reason why. Would it be worth giving them a chance or should I bite the bullet and get a mini split or two?
i have very hard to access spark plugs that come with a plastic handle for pulling them, and the handle broke off. then i tugged on the wire with extendo pliers and the wire ripped out of the boot. then i started tugging at the boot with the pliers and little chunks are now tearing out. advice?
do these smaller tubes of sillicone have a better shelf life than the big tubes?they cost roughly the same as the big tubes for some reason and i really only need to use a little bit most of the time so it would be nice if the entire tube didn't solidify whenever i needed it.
>>2992028It's the same stuff. If you close them well, they'll last a very long time. When you forget to, it's normally just a matter of digging out 3" of solid silicone on the top before you're good to go again.
>>2992034well i was hoping the different container would prevent it from drying out like the tubes do.
Turns out the bonnet nut on a faucet is important and you really can't go without it.Huh.Any suggestions on how to quickly dry a flooded bathroom?
>>2992039i never had tubes dry out entirely, i don't think it's even possible without messing something up. as other anon said, it's only some silicone on the tip that sets, you can pull it out with a piece of metal>>2992043mop it all up and rent an industrial drying machine for a day or two

My AC this year suddenly stopped working. It flashes all the lights when plugged in and then turns off in a second. Weirdly if I push ON within that second and keep pushing buttons, it'll keep running. But once I stop changing settings, it'll shut off.Am I screwed? Only solution I see online is to cut a wire which will keep it running but I lose all ability to change temp/speed. I suspect the board is the problem and not the motor or power supply, but I can't find a replacement.
>>2992142Find an old turbo controller and wire one of the turbo buttons to one of the control pads on the board...Fan speed would probably be the least disruptive to its normal operation. Then tape the controller button down so it constantly toggles it. Or do something similar with a Raspberry Pi using GPIOs and a Python script but the turbo controller would look much cooler.
>>2992150I appreciate the creativity, but that is effectively the same thing as cutting the wire except way more convoluted and there would be a constant beeping sound whenever a button is pressed. I understand you think this would allow me to keep the functions but it doesn't. Smart ACs like this don't implement changes until you stop pressing buttons for a second. But that is exactly when my AC shuts off.

every time I replace my whole house filter I get murky water out of each faucet, which ends up clogging my aerators.is it beneficial to close all the faucets water lines after changing the filter and run water out of higher flow faucets like the bathtub, or will murky water still accumulate in all the lines regardless?also is it better to open the faucets furthest up and at the end of the line, or the one closest to the filter, or both to let all the crap out?

Need a non return valve for the hose feeding the garden, could I just use two radiator valves to create a double check or is that not good enough?
>>2992391You can probably unscrew the trim plate and then rotate it 180 to flip the red and blue marks. Usually these plates aren't glued to the wall or just have some light silicone caulking that peels off.Another method would be to shut off the water, remove the handle, and twist the valve 180 like pic rel. Usually for those models there is a tiny allen screw on the bottom holding the handle. You may have to turn the handle to reveal it. Or look up a video for like "single handle hot cold shower removal"Trust me it's not as scary as you think. You aren't going to have to hammer away the wall or anything. These things are designed to be repaired.

going to replace the 1 inch chode screws in my front door with some 3 inchers to make it harder to kick in, just in case. should i use coarse or fine thread? mcmansion in the southwest, so door frame is probably pine, possibly oak but doubt it. also does plain steel vs stainless make any difference with strength? stainless is much harder but would it make a difference in this case? finally the hinges are #8, is it worth it to seek out #10 screws with #8 heads for more strength or is it not worth the cost and effort?
>>2992427>should i use coarse or fine threadI would recommend wood screws

Last night my wife came to tell me the dishwasher soap dispenser "suddenly exploded" all on its ownI came to find out what actually happened was she put soap into the dishwasher, finished loading it, forgot whether or not she filled the soap dispenser, and then forcefully pried the door openThis caused the door latch to shoot into the dishwasher. This model does not make it easy at all to get to the filter or grinder, so I spent all morning taking it apart to get thereI recovered the latch, but when I put it back into the hole it came from, nothing holds it in place. If I close the spring loaded dispenser door, it slowly pulls the latch outSo am I missing a piece here? Or is the dispenser assembly just internally fucked?tldr what is supposed to be locking the soap dispenser latch into place?
>>2992439And here's the recovered dispenser latch
>>2992440Fuck women. all she had to do was turn the latch.Open the door and try shoving it in again and see if there's something to push on from the other side to slide it in properly. You can probably google the modle number and get some part diagrams and repair guides. Remove the bottom kick plate and see if the installer left the guide in there like he's supposed to.See if there's evidence of a break on the piece that goes in the hole.
>>2992435k ill just grab whatever the hardware store has then. i was also going to put the same screws into the latch and lock jambs too to enforce those as much as possible.
https://files.catbox.moe/j3hz9r.mp4Just moved into our new house. HVAC is right in the middle of everything. Fan is constantly going during the day, sounds like this. Am I going crazy, or is it way louder than it should be? If I turn the unit all the way off, it goes quiet, pretty sure it's the intake fan. Kind of assuming it's a bad bearing, but wanted second opinion
>>2992449Took the door apart after putting the filter and wash assemblies back togetherTurned out the blue latch goes into this white piece on the other side of the dispenserThey very weakly click together but other than that there is nothing holding them together beyond thatLuckily that cheap plastic shit didn't crack. Just popped em back together and now I think I'm good to go
>>2991906You would have to use a heavy flow restricted showerhead. For example, a 0.5 GPM rate would last 5 minutes with hot water. I am not sure what you currently have but anything less than 2 GPM I find impossible to properly shower with. For 1 GPM showerheads it literally is easier to get a bowl and a rag and wipe off but maybe you have a more efficiency way to remove soap suds than I do.

just double checking that i'm doing this right, running a circuit from a subpanel to a garden shed. it's a DIY job so i'm basically going as fancy as possible:>12/2 NM-B romex from subpanel to crawlspace under addition>staple the bare wire to the ceiling (this is okay and my electrician did this for a 30A circuit)>terminate in 4" metal box, grounded, with 1' of slack inside>12/2 UF romex buried 18" deep in 1/2" grey PVC conduit>pop cable through hole in shed floor to a 2" box inside the shed>run cable to a light switch and 2x 20A outlets at the entrance>run another cable from the light switch to a porcelain bulb socket with round metal box

I have a 55" TV that I got for free and I want to mount it on my wall. My wall is concrete block. ChatGPT is recommending using a backer board, while my friend whos done construction says that tapcon screws will hold it just fine(and per the specs, a single screw should hold the weight, I realize sheer strength is another factor). He even said that screwing in in the center of where the blocks meet would be safe enough, but that seems sketchy. I would only screw directly into the block. Am I being too overly cautious?
>>2993559IDK anything about mounting, but I always follow "Better safe than sorry"
>>2993545I got one that clamps onto the rim and has an adjustable bubble level on it. Used it once to set caster and camber. Most of my shit is solid axle stuff so I just set the toe and don't worry about the other unless I think something might be bent. You will need some turning plates to pit your tires on so you can turn left and right.
>>2993559I wouldn’t worry about the backing board. If you can get 4-6 beefy tapcons in the block, you will be fine. I’m in South Florida where every exterior wall is block and I hang stuff with tapcons day without issue. There are other types of concrete anchors too that are even stronger but probably overkill.
>>2993559Its not a matter of safety, but long term versatility. You got a shitty free TV, one day if you get a job and actually buy a nice TV, you might want to buy a real TV mount too. A backer board lets you do that easily as opposed to repeatedly drilling into your masonry every time you want to move or change something.
>>2993559if your block is open cell (which it probably is) get a pack of zip ties from the electrical aisle when you pick up your tapcons. after you drill your hole, stick a zip tie in about as deep as the tapcon will go and then screw in the tapcon. you won't strip a single screw doing it this way.
>>2993576post picsalso how accurate is a bubble guage for setting camber
>>2993608https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sps-91000It is something like this, probably a different brand and anodized burnt orange. Will try and snap a pic of it if I can remember today. If you get one make sure your rim isn't bent and you have it fully seated at all 3 points on the rim so it is perfectly in plane with the wheel. Basically you turn the tire so many degrees one direction, level the bubble, and then turn it back so many degrees in the other direction and read the bubble to check your caster angle. An accurate bubble level should give you a good read on your camber as long as your vehicle is on a good level surface to start with and you have a flat surface (brake rotor, or a flat spot on your rim clamp tool) For toe my college shop instructor always chalked the tire, and spun it while holding a screwdriver on a block to lightly scribe an accurate line around the tire. That way if the tire mold is in anyway funky it doesn't matter, you should have a precise line straight line to measure from. Then grab a helper and get to measuring. A slight bit 1/8" of toe in is recommended, that way any bit of slop and wear should equal a zero toe and not a toe-out situation.
How bad an idea is it to make a fridge that's filled with water or another liquid? Think pic rel but sitting horizontally and the gel replaced with a less viscous material. You'd have to stack things vertically in it and most food would have to go in watertight containers. But it would solve two problems: cold air tending to pool in the bottom leaving top shelves warm, and escaping whenever you open the fridge door. Water is a much better heat conductor too.I guess water displacement could be a problem.
>>2993622>How bad an idea is it to make a fridge that's filled with water or another liquid?technically pretty bad, since i'd imagine a fridge isn't meant to be filled with liquid, so it isn't watertight and is probably going to start leaking from all that weight. you have things that "technically" use water to cool and store things, like those beer chillers you fill with ice and water. there are also some industrial machines that work like thatif you want to increase the thermal density, you could just store a shitload of water bottles inside a fridge, instead of flooding it. it'll achieve a similar effect

>>2993579I bought a pretty universal mount, so even if I got a new TV in the future, I imagine it would fit. The thing that sketches me out with the backer board is I can't see what happens to the block once we drill in. I'm scared of going the backer board route and having some spiderweb crack happen underneath the board that I couldn't see.
ron paul /b/i'm planning to build a shed, mainly for storing some random stuff, fuel, and maybe a car. i already have a small tool shed and this will be right next to it. i'm planning to have 10x10cm posts and whatever rafters are required. however i'm wondering about the joists(?), i was planning to use the same 10x10cm beams, but is 3 meters too long? as you can see i'm planing to have those 45deg braces everywhere, but i'm wondering if the posts aren't too spaced out. would 2 meter max be more reasonable? i'm in a country where it snows, so weight support will be a concern.
How can I remove this shower drain cover? Do I have to break the tile around it? Is it even installed right? This bathroom has a smell coming from it and I can see something down the drain. Its kind of hard to see in the picture. I tried search the brand (Oatey) but can't find any product page for this particular cover. All the ones I find are like a grate that you can just pull straight out which makes me think this one just wasn't installed correctly.

I just bought this combo pack for $58 because I never tried an impact driver before. I have always heard people say impacts are so much better and easier to drive screws with. Well I've been testing it and it's actually worse than the drill at driving screws into basic 2x4's. The only thing that seems better about the impact is getting the screws out. Am I doing something wrong?
>>2993906cuz ur using gayass virgin philips screws instead of chadmaster square drive
>>2993910>chadmaster square driveor torx
>>2993881quite possibly, but there's no way to tell from that pic
>>2993906>$58You get what you paid for I guess
>>2993906What makes an impact "better" for driving screws is that it doesnt require a ton of downward force, and it doesnt require a super strong grip. It just steadily hammers the screw in with little effort, while you have to push and hold the drill with considerable effort to get it to go.Whats the actual problem? Is it not actually driving the screws?
>>2993923>it doesnt require a ton of downward force, neither does the drill> It just steadily hammers the screw inlmao what
>>2993926Nigga, go drive a screw into an actual hard piece of wood. Your wood has to provide enough resistance to wind up and release the internal hammer for the "impact" action, hence the name. If your wood is soft, itll just drive it through without impacting.

I have a click plc from automation direct (C0-00-00DD2-D) and I fucked up by wiring the polarity for the 24v power in reverse. Got a smoke show.Anybody know where I could find the ID for the smd inductor and diode that broke here? Hoping I could solder on new ones or get a new board instead of buying a new plc for 100 bucks.
>>2993953
>>2993953>ID for the smd inductor and diode that broke here?>diodeWhat is the max current and voltage that can be applied?Double that and pick any diode that will fit on the board.>inductorIf the inductor burned out due to revers polarity, it's probably a filter for the DC input.I'd guess it isn't critical and just get whatever will fit on the board.(may work with just a jumper wire)If you replace them by guesstimation and it still doen't work, you aren't any worse off than you are now.
will the romex cable be safe above a stove where there's steam from boiling water? I have capped the wires and put them in a box and electrical taped the openings and sides.
>>2993993That's most likely your microwave circuit. Buy a single duplex old work box, cut it out in the upper cabinet, then pull the wire up there through the wall into the new box. Wire the new outlet.Install the microwave.

why do medium size trucks use duallys but medium sizes trailers use tandem axles??
>>2994366the single truck axle can handle load weight but needs 4 tires for the rated capacity plus brakes are bigger and fit better inside a dually style rim. dual axle trucks are an enormous expense addition. twice the drive train parts to wear and much more complicated suspension trailers ride much better on 2 axles. single axles teter and bounce. plus single wheels have more room between the tires since width is limited to 102" overall. and trailer spindles are generally much smaller than a drive axle so a single is max rated at 7-8k which is also about the same as the combined rating of a pair of hd trailer rated 235/16 tires. super hd 17.5 tires and special axles will give 10k on singles but its exponentially more bucksand then theres mfg weight rating and cdl requirement
>>2992268>why do medium size trucks use duallys but medium sizes trailers use tandem axles?>>2992268>why do medium size trucks use duallys but medium sizes trailers use tandem axles?>>2991272>Why does a 1 7/8" trailer ball even exist?>>2994366Don't you want to ask about trailer balls again?
>>29943663 axel trucks have odd licensing requirements in some areas. They are generally expected to be very large trucks (over 26k pounds payloads) and having the third axle is sometimes enough to trigger these licensing requirements even if the vehicle is never expected to carry such loads. Oddly, things like air brakes can also trigger this. This is why you never see air brakes on smaller vehicles. Trailers, on the other hand, generally don't have these oddball requirements. Hell, in many areas you can literally chop the front end off of an old pickup, remove the cab, pinch the ladder frame together, put a hitch on it, and call it a trailer.>>2994376This varies A LOT by state. In my area, if you only have a Class C license the first and third picture will get you ticketed by any cop that is paying attention. Here, you need a Class B if the combined GCWR is over 26k, regardless of what is towing the trailer. If the trailer alone is over 10k that requires a Class A. The only time you need a CDL for these cases is when it is a non-private vehicle.

I'm looking to retrofit my e-bike to use more common connectors so I can service it more frequently and easily. I don't know much about modern mid-high power connectors and don't have a DigiKey account. What's a good connector to look up that>can carry 36v, ~800w peak without melting or exploding>has exactly eight or nine pins>relatively weatherproof (or can be weatherproofed)>I can get a pack of more than one but less than 20 of on amazon for relatively cheap>preferably fits one way or is at least easy to marki have a crimper and soldering stuff so that's not an impediment. it's for 3phase AC and 5 or 6 pins for sensors. i say "or" because i have a few motors available and i want to be able to replace it with either type as things inevitably fail without changing out the connector. the connector will be on the front fork of my bike so it has to deal with some splash and a variety of weather conditions. i'm not adverse to it being pretty big as long as it's flat.I don't wanna use the "standard" 9 pin "ebike cable" (picrel) because it's not standard at all and they fucking suck to inspect for damage or ingress, and you can plug them in wrong very easily if you don't mark it up yourself somehow (and any such mark is guaranteed to wear off in the first snowstorm)
I don't have a faucet on my porch garden, but I want to set up a drip irrigation system using a pump and water cistern. Are there any solutions that don't come loaded with an extra helping of BPA and PFAS?
>>2994436
>>2994394Connectors that handle both power and signal at the same time are far less common than connectors that handle one or the other. More importantly, there's very little reason to use specialty connectors like that if you don't have a good reason to do so. You'll have a way easier time if you just split them up into separate, weather-resistant power/signal connectors. All of your requirements are much easier to meet, cheaply, if you don't insist on a single connector.
What thread is the one on the left? The right one is a M6. The pitch is 1.25mm and looks like it has a flat top.
>>2994449looks like a chang bastardized version of 1/4-20 where they thread roll 6mm screwstock so its way undersize but the pitch is ok
>>2994445>Connectors that handle both power and signal at the same time are far less common than connectors that handle one or the other. yes this is why I am asking, becuase it's hard for me to think of one off the top of my head because they are relatively rare due to being an uncommon use case. it's just some passive sensors so i dont mind just having thinner wire to an overly beefy connector, the extra resistance should be negligible>More importantly, there's very little reason to use specialty connectors like that if you don't have a good reason to do soi listed several reasons>All of your requirements are much easier to meet, cheaply, if you don't insist on a single connector.okay, if i give up and just use a picrel for the 3-phase then what's a good signal one for 6 pins for data even if i have to make the current mostly unified cable into a breakout octopus mess

You /diy/ frens seen any clever solutions for a 'cat flap' when I'm in a (concrete + brick) new house with only glass doors, I need to preserve its AAAA+ energy rating, so I can't even do much about the glass without a big ass investment I would think.
>>2994498Do you own the place? The only permanent solution I can see is basically putting a big pipe through the wall somewhere, much like a dryer vent. I'm assuming there's insulation in the wall because a wall made of only concrete and brick would have a D-tier energy rating.Or swap one of the glass doors for a normal door. You could rig something up like a plywood board with a flap stuck in an open window, but it wouldn't be a great permanent solution as your window would have to stay somewhat opened at all times. You'd also have to build a ramp for the cats to get up to the window height flap.
>>2994501>Or swap one of the glass doors for a normal door.I suppose this would be an acceptable solution, not gonna be cheap but it would work.>Do you own the place? No it's regulated rental in yurp, but I can perform modifications within reason.
