Was having trouble deciding the best board for this.
I'm honestly surprised it took a year and a half for this to happen, but my parking spot is next to a giant concrete pillar. I was a millimeter off and scraped the shit out of my door.
2025 Nissan Leaf. I already ordered a "Nissan touch up paint pen" and hoping that works.. if it doesn't I may need to pay 700-1k to get the door panel replaced.
Asking /diy/ to see what you would do.

Is it that deeply scratched? If not I might try to polish it up.

That thing lost 20% of its value the second you signed the paperwork at the dealer. In 200k miles it will be worth negative money as you will likely have to pay someone to get rid of it. Who the fuck cares if it is scratched? It has zero effect on its ability to operate and the value of the fucking thing is sinking like a stone every day that goes by. Drive the fucking thing, do the maintenance, and ditch it when it costs more to fix than it is worth. Scratched paint means nothing. Literally more effort than it is worth.

I don't do car paint . But to me it looks like those scratches can be buffed out

go to an auto parts store. Those dont go into the paint later, smoothing (lightly samding) the clearcloat and wax will hide that better than a paint pen. Therell be kits with several steps, but youll be surprises.

then to address the issue, i saw everything from comforters duct taped to pool noodles used to address this in condo buildings. just get creative.
