My mom has these cardboard flower pots. This is the second year we've had a 100% failure rate of every single seedling put into them.
I think it's because the roots don't actually manage to penetrate and the whole thing gets mouldy but I'm not sure.
I've asked her to switch to plastic ones but she she didn't do it.
Mind you I think she also used coco coir rather than soil in most (I kinda managed to keep them alive with fertilizer while she was on vacation but she stopped using it I think) but even the ones with soil eventually die.

Note: She just watered those. In her mind they're roaring to be planted.

Might also just be the windowsill because these are in one of those soil tablet things and ended up dying too.

I use coir+perlite+vermiculite to start all my seedlings every year and the only time anything really suffers is when I forget to fertilize or overwater because coir retains a shit ton of water. Nothing has died until well into it being planted out since year 1. It looks like you might be using pure coir which would be even easier to overwater, so could be that. Sometimes I have to wait a week before watering, drpending on pot size. I rec 1 part vermiculite, 1 part perlite, 2 parts coir and make sure theyre getting nutrients. Also, do all of these actually manage to get window sill space when theyre bigger and up potted? And if youre moving some outside due to space constraints, are you hardening off?

Assuming your pots have drainage holes, theyre probably fine and it's probably not those. I've grown cat grass in a random cardboard box with holes drilled for drainage

They don't have drainage holes. Left has been soaking for 4 days and is only slightly damp at the bottom and on the side where I spilled filling it.

Poke a couple holes then just water the entire lot from the bottom.

Those are intended for shipping seedlings. Buy plant. Remove from cardboard pot. Plant in permanent planter with drainage or in the ground.

Ah yeah these cardboard pots are total pieces of shit imo, Ive had nothing good from using these. The seedlings get root bound and sits in the soggy wet soil on the bottom till either the plant drowns or the mold sets in and kills it. The cardboard then also steals the water while then increasing the mold buildup.

This is just about ready to be transplanted, i would have already replanted at this stage. the only purpose i see in these tiny pots is to conserve soil while being able to handle/transport heaps of seedlings , then pick out the best ones to replant.

yes and id agree with you. however they are sold here as a bio degradable alternative where you can just put it straight into the ground without transplanting the pot.. its a lie that doesn't work either..ive never had a plant live long enough to be transplanted in these things..oh yeah also the roots sometimes cling to the bottom of the cardboard and then you cannot remove them easily without ripping. total fkn fail those cardboard pots i dont recommend to use with anything.

i'd say she's drowning them
have drain holes
>>

so basically theres not enough holes in the damn thing it sounds like, oP poke holes in it like a fucking pastry. that should let water drain and help avoid an arguement with your parents

Just use plastic like a normal person.
