Tell me, what's up with the diy concrete lathe? Are you jealous and working for big lathe? I'm gonna make my own anti gravity flying saucer with this nice piece of kit because I spent my monthly tool budget on alcohol and cigarettes.
>>2993072Go for it bud. I get lathes dirt cheap and its not worth it to build one.
>>2993072>so amazing there isnt even a real example to show a picture of
>>2993073Exactly where? My old man still got the "take it off our hands and it's yours" deal. These days every boomer wants at least 1k for his beat up toy lathe.NO LOWBALLS!! I KNOW WHAT I GOT!!!
>>2993089Local auctions. Business going out of business? Auction. The old man died and wife wants to clear out the shop and turn it into a bonus room? Auction. Government getting rid of shit? Auction. School liquidating their shop? Auction. Business dumping old equipment? Auction.Brand matters. A LOT. Monarch? That is the lathe they use in the Warhammer 40k universe and is priced accordingly. South Bend? Mid range. Atlas/Craftsman? Low end. I got an old Atlas for free because a guy bought it for $50 and only wanted the back gears off of it.Remember, the bigger it is, the cheaper is goes for. A Monarch that runs on 220 volts and 4 guys can wrangle into a short bed pickup truck? 8 thousand dollars. A 75 inch engine lathe that uses 480 volts three phase and can spin the front end of a '59 Caddy while balancing a dime edge up on the ways? Minimum bid $1, unsold. If no one can move it, no one will buy it.You want a cheap lathe? Have access to a large pickup truck (preferably a dually), a gooseneck flatbed trailer, a portable gantry, a 10-ton chain hoist, a small team of competent men that are all missing at least one finger, and have a shop with a NEMA L16-30P outlet and a re-enforced concrete floor so thick OP's mom can walk on it without cracking it.
>>2993097Oh, wow. Yet another boomer who can't read and thinks he's above all. Go kill yourself with a warm handshake.
>>2993104so much seething for an actual useful advice from some manchild wreck that boasts about blowing money on drugs. at least your concrete "lathe" will be good for drowning yourself with by tying the block to your neck.
>>2993110>the strawman was real in my mindok, unc
>>2993097This anon is spot on 100% correct. You can either accept the facts or keep wasting your time...
>>2993104>boomer
>>2993097
>>2993097I have to agree with the other anon. At least in central europe the market for anything used has completely deteriorated. Any auction is scalped by full time pensioners "trying to earn on the side" and sandniggers shipping everything they can get their fingers on to africa or god knows where. Even the usual 1€ deals go down for literal scrap metal and parts. Nevermind most of police and customs auctions running at 11am work days. It's pretty ridiculous for a young working person.
