Whatever happened to modular, prefab homes? I live in Connecticut, USA and they're still building shitty McMansions everywhere and gutting/renovating shitty 1950's ranch homes for more than this would cost.

All homes should be built underground. Then you could pretty much remove all of the energy spent on heating and cooling, which is the lions share of all energy spent. Towns and cities become transformed into giant sprawling parks. Your nation becomes bomb proof. Digging out the soil someplace where it is otherwise unneeded, like where they don't have to worry about frost heave, is a huge cost increase too. What if you want a second or third story? The deeper you go the more the cost goes up.
