Pushed my bodyweight down fists first on some recyclable cardboard waste/trash without knowing there was broken glass underneath and shivved my knuckle straight through

Also had some petg printed spacers for a cheap storage hanger using m8 all allthread

I left the holes without clearance for the thread thinking I would fasten them in to the right length with a little grease + impact drill and a chuck attachment

Got annoyed at one point and tried to hold the spacer in my hand while drilling with the other, basically near circular sawed my hand

I smashed by thumb once so fucking hard i broke the bone at the tip. It was a cold winter and outside.

Worst diy accident? Wood shop in grade 5. I was using a drill press on a piece of wood. It picked up the wood and slammed it in to my wrist. Blood everywhere. Still have a nice scar.

Worst pain was gallbladder stones. Went to 4 different hospitals every time it happened, they gave me pain meds and it went away, no scans or anything. Finally had another pain attack, the worst one yet, and the hospital actually did a scan this time and discovered the problem. I am a young man and gallstones usually happen in older age and for females so my case was kindof rare. Searing pain in my stomach that fluctuated from intense to unimaginable and for hours at a time. Doctor said if it was not caught it could've turned into sepsis. No pain ever again after the surgery. Other than that acid reflux when eating the wrong foods makes my lungs feel like they are seeped in acid. No major injuries or pain otherwise.

I was chopping wood, and a splinter flew straight into my eye. It happened so fast that reflex didnt close my eyes. I was blinded in that eye for about 4 hours, and it hurt for another 3 days. And I was lucky that the splinter wasn't sharp and didn't pierce my eye.
Wear fucking safety goggles, lads

While splitting a small piece of wood using my knife as a wedge, I miscalculated and drove the knife straight through it, and into the palm of my hand.
Nice clean cut, 4 cm long and half a cm deep. You could stare at the inside of my hand if I stretched it out. Thankfully didn't need stitches, just a metric fuckton of steri-strips and a bandage.
So uh, wear your fucking gloves and don't be retards, anons.

currently i have an infected tooth root, it seems like
the dentists here don't take state health insurance and i dont want a root canal anyway
i've talked it out with chatgpt and it seems possible if heat up the tooth to around 116F it will stress the microbes enough that they might begin to die off, but not so hot that it damages the layer of biological adhesive that keeps the tooth root in place.
i have a sous vide device that i trust, and a small water pump, so it only remains to do it. i will get the resivoir of water hot enough, then use the pump to shoot a constant stream onto my tooth, hopefully heat it up and cook the microbes living inside. if it fails and i lose the tooth, its not that big a deal, the root canal would kill it anyway. my only concern is that even if i sterilize the tooth root, there is still a pocket of bacteria right there that will re-infect it. i dont know a solution to that yet

recovery was miserable but it ended the pain

my spinal fusion is coming up next month. what kind of fusion is that? looks like an interbody fusion with posterior fixation. based. they're gonna try standalone OLIF with me. basically the least invasive fusion method that exists. rods and screws will be added if it doesn't hold up

I had 3rd degree burns on my right arm. Luckily didn't affect the movement of my elbow. The scars were bright red and purple for a couple years, they've mostly faded now. Pic unrelated.

Most current boo-boo is shooting a brad nail almost all the way through a finger because my dumb ass didn't check the length of nails I had in the gun. Was under the bench adding some guide strips to a set of shop drawers so I didn't notice until the bite that I had brads sticking through on all of them. Barely hurt and the fingerpad sealed back up so no bleeding and didn't get infected. Just get to be pissed off about always just picking up the nailer and gettin'er'dun instead of checking what I have loaded.

Years ago I was working on cleaning a track bike, put it upside down in the absence of a proper bike stand as it is the custom. And made the second grave mistake of revving it up and trying to clean the chain with a rag.
Right Thumb, index and middle fingers were pulled toward and in between the chain and the chainring teeth. A big ass 56T / 14. My fingers were mangled, I calmly (mostly anger took over pain because knowing it was a dumb move) put some povidone into a cup with saline and let mi finger there for a good while. When mos tof the bleeding stopped I packed them tight and went to the ER, they stitched them and now after, maybe 12 years they seem to be perfectly normal.

Fugged up while punching holes in some craft felt with my HK6. Knife slipped and went about 1/3rd an inch into the tip of my thumb. No pic because I'm a pussy and I don't want to take my bandage off.
Only started DIY projects less than a year ago. Can people become more resistant to pain from injuries over time, or do they simply learn to fuck up less?

Both. My arms are fucking cooked from years and years of harsh sun and welding/grinding. There's not a day that goes by that I don't have blood running down my arms in one form or another. If I even look at barbed wire fence my arms are bleeding.

hit my finger with a hammer
took about 4 months for the damaged part to grow out to a point where I could cut it
as it grew and got away from the matrix it "split", so there were 2 nails layered ontop of eachother - top one had all the blood under it, and the bottom one was all deformed but solid, idk if the hammer hit split em apart, or after the hit the bottom one started growing under the damaged one
