Years ago, bought a house with a few acres. One acre was grass, had old, mud filled, busted impact sprinklers. Replaced them all with K-Rain rotors, and never really got even coverage. Brown areas and weird, green circles, despite theoretically good sprinkler coverage

This spring I decided enough was enough, and spent a bunch of money on Rainbird 8000 series rotors. Grass turned green within weeks.

You get what you pay for, I guess

Hello, fellow Anonymous, I also love my RainBird® 11000 Series Rotors and RainBird® ESP-LXIVM controller with Intuitive Touch Display. Before RainBird® my lawn was literally, figuratively and metaphysically a desert and now my RainBird® powered lawn is literally, figuratively and metaphysically an oasis, it was worth every dollar, and it sure was a lot of dollars!

nah all that other shit sucks
krain just sucks at rotors
their controllers might be ok, idk
can't be worse than rainbird

Hunter Industries MP Rotator

Lawns with poor sprinkler coverage can get soil differences which can lead to grass of different varieties growing, so it might be an indirect issue.

With sprinkers, heads that are impacted often dump water close to the head if not outright pour water onto the lawn. Which causes the same issue.

Often the technician who installed the system did everything right and the owner just never maintained it, so there's often a compelling reason to repair it without actually changing the set-up

The cost of many irrigation supplies is bullshit, they're plastic parts. Many are seriously overpriced. It depends if it's a critical application and if you're able/ committed to maintaining them.

Yeah, this is likely a mix of bad maintenance and 30 years of changes

I think next year I'll resod the entire acre, get some uniform grass. I already know it's a mix of cool and warm season grass

But I will say that the RainBird rotors and RVAN shit are actually greening things up again. Haven't put in hunter MP rotators yet, didn't want something tied to a tool, but might give em a try. I've been staying away from hunter because they look like more expensive krain.
