>tin snips
Fucking suck to use , jam up in the material, edge finish looks like shit , can't go through folds

> Double cut shears
Fucking suck to use, jam up in the material, edge finish looks like shit, can't go through folds, but faster than tin snips

>Angle grinder
>Sparks everywhere, NOISE, FUMES, HOT METAL ALL OVER YOU, shitty quality edge

>Nibbler
>Shitty quality edge , need a good compressor or you're always waiting for recharge, leaves sharp pointy bits of metal all over the ground

Is there any not shit way to do this or what? Jesus Christ, it feels way harder than it needs to be.

Shear or Beverly shear depending on what you're doing.

Score it with Stanley knife on both sides and wiggle until it breaks. Will cost you a blade

Ive cut 1/4" cast iron and 3/8" mild steel with it. Ive also cut a lot of sheet metal, like taking the metal off the side of a stove or a filing cabinet to reuse.
Works great, highly recommended

Also I have a portable bandsaw mounted on a table with a throat plate on it. It will cut sheet metal like butter, but you are stuck with ~5" depth of cut, flip the piece and make a second cut for 10" total.
You can cut longer runs if you are throwing waste away on the left hand side of the blade, you can push past the tool body on the right.

It also kicks ass cutting pretty much anything else. One of the best tools in the garage.
You can buy a real metal cutting bandsaw, but the throat depths arent super huge with those either, unless you buy a monster machine.

holy fuck man are you trying to cut the maginot line?

A carbide tipped ferrous blade on a worm gear saw works bretty gud on stuff too. I really need to get one of those Milwaukee metal saws though. I was originally thinking corded, but how do you like the cordless? I'm already in the m12 and m18 ecosystem so it wouldn't really matter either way to me.

I also bought a few of those 4x6 bandsaw with intentions of turning them into stationary vertical saws... Just haven't done it yet. You can usually snag used ones at auction for ~$25. I've read you can modify the blade guides so it doesn't have the twist and that will give you a bit more "throat depth" on the left side.

>Score it with Stanley knife
This works good on thinner gauge materials.

My go to most of the time is a grinder and zip disk. It is the everyday problem solver that is always handy and close by.

These create a much cleaner edge than the jaw/scissor type metal nibblers.

Once you get it started an oscillating saw is pretty good. Still loud as all fuck though.

I work with standing seam roof. These rip all day.

That's cool , I love standing seam . How do you cut the seams though

People on YT seem to actually like the drill attachment metal snippers
>>

>the drill attachment metal snippers
Those are identical to these in how they function:
>>2996904
>>2996917
Only they're a drill attachment rather than their own standalone tool. I can see using the drill attachment if it's something you don't do very often, but the standalone tools are easier to work with.
>>
Anyone tried this thing? Looks good as fuck but it's expensive too

It's just a drill powered can opener
>>
>>2997084
A super $500 can opener
>>
>>2997221
No fucking way in hell is that thing worth $500. It's a right angle gear in a housing with a cog and a blade on the end. I could see maybe $150 at most, but $500? Absurd.
>>
use a milling machine, and sandwich it with a sacrificial material
>>
>>2997224
Nobody else is making it and it's clearly the best tool for the job
>>
>>2996855
This is the answer.
>>
>>2996848
Bolt it to a fixture, score one side with a 90 degree mill drill, flip the sheet then cut with a. Endmill

You score it and it gets rid of the burr

So it comes out fucking clean

I generally don’t like to cut sheet metal in a cnc machine though because it can fuck up your chip conveyer or coolant pump with the stray chunks
